"Chippie Chipmunks" is the fifty-second live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the animated episode "Mario of the Apes."
Plot[]
Mario eagerly brushes up for a meeting with Mr. Gibbel, the leader of Chippie Chipmunk, a group whom he is part of. Luigi questions why he'd care about such a "silly group" but Mario justifies his loyalty. Mr. Gibbel comes to the door and reveals that Mario is just five points away from getting the honor of "Chippie Chipmunk of the Month!" To get the needed five points he must spend a day doing only good deeds. If he succeeds, he'll get a Secret Chippie Decoder Ring. After Mr. Gibbel leaves, Luigi admits that if Mario has to be nice to him for a day, then the group can't be so silly after all.
Luigi takes full advantage of Mario's need to do good deeds for the day and treats him as his own personal servant making him do a variety of tasks including giving him a foot massage. Finally, Mr. Gibbel shows up and talks to Mario about his status as Chippie Chipmunk of the Month. It turns out that Mario didn't have five points less than he needed but five points more. He congratulates Mario and leaves. Luigi mocks him for all he had to do and Mario retaliates by throwing a bowl of popcorn at him.
