Zroco

Zroco (ワニボン Wanibon) is a Zombie variant of Croco that appears in Zombie Outbreaks and Legend Stages.

Enemy[]

On top of dealing high Single Target damage and being able to weaken cats, Zroco has a remarkably short burrow duration and distance compared to other Zombies, leaving you with almost no breathing room before it appears right in the middle of your ranged stack. It has the same health as a Zoge, with slightly longer range but only one knockback, so he's dangerous if he spawns in the right place at the right time. The burrowing can destroy midrangers meant to attack other enemies, problematic against pushers like Lord Gravey and R.Ost.

Strategy[]

Draw Rare Cat Capsules to obtain Wushu Cat, which functions well as both an offensive and defensive counter to Zroco; or stack meatshields, as Zroco is single-target and will take some time chewing through each cat. The use of Li'l Flying Cat or Cadaver BearCat might be necessary to dispose of him in later stages.

Zroco's very short burrow can also be exploited for other purposes. For example, it can surface in a group of meatshields and give Slime a chance to fire its wave attack, while its revival means the next Slime you spawn might be able to exploit this again, as its low range means it's easy to pull off.

Trivia[]

Zroco's Japanese name, Wanibon, is derived from 鰐 wani (crocodile), 盆 Bon (a Buddhist festival held annually in August to honor the dead) and possibly bone.
Zroco is one of the only enemies whose species changes between versions: Its English description calls it a gator, while its Japanese description says it's a crocodile.
Whether it's an alligator or a crocodile, Zroco is anatomically incorrect, although that shouldn't be a surprise given the game's comedic backdrop.
Zroco has the shortest burrow distance of all burrowing Zombies.
Its English description misspells the word dumbbells as "dumbells".
In Greek mythology, the River Styx is a river of misery which draws the line between the underworld and the rest of the world, which is also mentioned in Zollow's description and in the name of Hannya's first map.
- Zroco also appears in Revenge of Carnage to support Hannya.
In Japanese Buddhist tradition and religious belief, the Sanzu River is a river which the souls of the deceased must cross before they can reach the afterlife, which is also mentioned in Zollow's Japanese description and in Long Line at Cerberus' Japanese name (Wait Three Days at the Sanzu River).
