Koronium

Koronium (メタルコアラッキョ Metaru Koarakkyo, Metal Koalacchio) is a Metal variant of Kory that appears in Legend Stages.

Enemy[]

Koronium is a dangerous Metal enemy. Don't let his 150 health fool you, as Koronium, just like most Kory variants, is able to create a powerful Wave Attack covering an area of 1067.5 each time he hits a unit. Koronium also has more range (240) and attack power (15,000 for the initial hit, plus another 15,000 from the Wave Attack) than other variants. Considering both his wave and actual hit, he has more DPS than R.Ost, in addition to firing off a wave on the rest of your attackers.

Strategy[]

Critical Hitters are almost mandatory to turn this eccentric koala-bot into scrap metal. Do not use anything with a range less than 240 (except perhaps Wave Shields). These units will only be stepping stones for Koronium to unleash a wave and shred the rest of your units. The use of Wave Shields is recommended to try to blot out his Wave Attacks. However, beware, for this koala has ridiculous amounts of DPS that can shred Mightycat and Octopus Cat. Long-ranged Wave Shields like Hatsune Miku: MM2020 Tokyo, Eva Unit-00, Cat Machine Mk 3, and Doom Engine Pandora (luring is needed with Pandora) can easily counter him, though.

He hits considerably hard up close, so getting past his range buffer of 240 by using ranged Critical Hitters such as Hundred-Million-Dollar Cat, Curry Cat, Space Marine Cat or Cameraman Cat with Talents is worth it. Talented Lollycat is also very good at delaying him, though beware that it requires a lot of NP for a powerful yet situational Talent.

If you have E. Kubilan Pasalan, this enemy will be a joke - not only can E. Kubilan take him out in one shot, but his waves can also reach him from a faraway distance. Hayabusa can also OHKO him while being able to tank at least one wave from him (depending on the level and crown magnifications), and his Long Distance allows Hayabusa to more easily target Koronium amid a crowd of enemies.

Trivia[]

• "Koronium" is a wordplay of Kory and the hypothetical chemical substance Coronium, later discovered to be ionized iron.
• He appears to be wearing the infamous Dai League Ball Training Cast from the classic baseball manga Star of the Giants. In the story, the main protagonist Hyūma Hoshi is forced to wear this spring-loaded device for 24 hours as part of his sadistic training by his abusive father Ittetsu. His Japanese description saying he is feared an "oni kyōkan" or "demon teacher" (鬼教官) refers to how Ittetsu gets called an oni by one of his trainees, Chūta Ban. The irony is that Koronium is a base coach, not a player, meaning he should be the one making others wear the training cast.
  • The reason why Ittetsu is referenced by a Metal enemy may be that the tetsu (徹) part of his name sounds exactly like 鉄, meaning iron.
  • Incidentally, Star of the Giants and Hyūma Hoshi are also referenced by the Japanese name and description of another baseball-themed enemy, Hackey, which may imply a connection between him and Koronium.
• The "NLB" mentioned in his description is a reference to MLB, or Major League Baseball. The "N" presumably stands for neko, the Japanese word for cat.
• Lakeside Bootcamp, the stage Koronium is introduced in, is likely a reference to his harsh nature during training.
• Three Evil Brothers implies that Koronium, Kory and Berserkory are brothers.
  • This also implies that Deathkory is not related, although this can be attributed to DeathKory being added after the stage was made.
