Mr. and Mrs. Plantar are mentioned characters of Amphibia. They are the parents of Sprig and Polly, who were killed by herons during an attack they made on Wartwood while Hop Pop was on a journey.
Background
Life
At some point in their life, Mr. and Ms. Plantar met in unknown circumstances, and later married. Subsequently, they would have a son named Sprig, and later a daughter named Polly.[1] For one of Sprig's birthdays, they gave him his signature hat and goggles,[2] which is one of their son's few memories of them albeit a little hazy.
Death
Once while Hop Pop was on a journey, two herons attacked Wartwood, and while they tried to protect their children, Mr. and Mrs. Plantar were attacked and eaten by the herons. Because they took shelter, both Sprig and Polly survived the attack, and Hop Pop would take care of both.[3]
Legacy
After their death, Hop Pop began to blame himself for their death, so he became more strict and overprotective of Sprig and Polly.[3] Because they were so young at the time of their parents' death, Sprig and Polly began to forget how they were.[1]
While on Earth during King Andrias' invasion, the Plantars find to their horror that the same two herons that killed Mr. and Mrs. Plantar are part of Andrias' army, making them afraid to fight them. However, when they see that Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy are about to be attacked by the herons, the Plantars put their fear aside and tame the herons with the Plantar ritual; thus avenging Mr. and Mrs. Plantars' deaths non-violently.[4]
