Fern is a minor recurring character in Amphibia. She is a hairdresser in Wartwood, who joined the Wartwood Resistance.
Appearance[]
Body[]
Fern is a medium-sized, light purple frog with light green hair and a ponytail at the back.
Clothing[]
Initially, Fern wore a light yellow dress, and in her hair, she had a white flower clip.
After joining the resistance, her attire now consists of a gray dress with tears in the skirt and right sleeve, while the left sleeve is armor. She also wears a red scarf and a brown belt, along with a skull pin in her hair. She also carries a large pair of red scissors, whom she names Cutsy.
Background[]
Wartwood life[]
Fern was a worker at the beauty salon, Hair Are Frogs.[1] She and another worker try to stop Polly, who is making trouble in the salon by throwing hairbrushes. After Anne pays with counterfeit Hop Pop dollars, Fern and the salon employee join a crowd of citizens, who are angry about the scam. Anne's debt is settled with everyone, including Fern and the employee, after Polly wins the trophy for the highest spit competition and divides it among the conned.[1]
Joining the resistance[]
Sometime later, during the destruction of Amphibia by King Andrias, Fern has joined the Wartwood Resistance, still working as a hairdresser. She, along with Stumpy, Sprig, and Ivy, is recruited to go on a mission to disable Andrias' forces, led by Sasha. She is paired with Ivy to disable the power source protecting the weapon, while Sprig with Stumpy would take down the cannons. However, Sprig and Ivy, in an attempt to not get separated, trick Fern and Stumpy with a fake letter from Sasha saying she decided to switch teams and leave Stumpy with Fern to disable the power source. However, both are unable to climb the high hill where it is located, taking too long. Realizing their mistake, Sprig and Ivy decide to do things as Sasha said from the beginning, successfully deactivating Andrias' forces.[2]
