Barbari-Ants are giant bloodthirsty insects in Amphibia that serve as the main antagonists in "Marcy at the Gates".
Background[]
Barbari-ants are giant ants with glowing coral sticking out of their heads and bodies covered in barnacles; some have light blue glowing corals while others have orange glowing corals. They are strong, fast, vicious, have powerful pincers and armored exoskeleton hinds known as Chitin. Also, their chitin bodies are as bouncy as trampolines when Marcy uses them to get to the Barbari-Ant queen when the queen swallows Sprig.
The queen is a lot bigger and stronger than the rest of the Barbari-Ants, with razor sharp claws and thick chitin, and while she is nearly blind, she has impeccable hearing. She is also shown to be a good mother to the eggs of the Barbari-Ants. She has a thicker armored hide along half of her top back side and at the back is a large, dark green birthing organ from which fresh Barbari-ant eggs are laid.
According to Marcy's studies, they swarm a town every 10 years. When the queen grows her horde, they ravage everything in their path and turn any unfortunate town they come across into their own anthill so the queen can birth more ants for the next cycle. As a result, the Barbari-ants that threatened Newtopia were unusually bold in this sense until Marcy used stinkshrooms to ward off the ants away from Amphibia's capital city. Barbari-ant eggs are distinctly lightweight.
