Crane was an Ancient with glowing eyes, claw-like hands with three fingers on each hand, two fingers on each foot, and two long protrusions at the back of his head. He had small spikes on his hips and shoulders which slanted slightly upwards. Like the other Ancients, his translucent torso contained a glowing Koco as some sort of good-luck charm.
History[]
Past[]
Crane was one of many Ancients who fled the destruction of their home world when it was attacked by an intergalactic entity known as The End. Crane settled on the Starfall Islands on earth when the Chaos Emeralds powering their ships were drawn to the planet by a larger gem.
Some time after their arrival on the islands, The End followed the Ancients to earth and began its attacks on the planet. In an attempt to defeat their enemy, the Ancients constructed four powerful manned machines powered by the Chaos Emeralds called Titans. Crane was among those chosen to command one of these machines, piloting the most powerful of four, dubbed Supreme.
Crane and the other three pilots flew their Titans into space to confront The End. Despite their best efforts, the pilots were unable to defeat their enemy and as a last resort, Crane sacrificed themself by pulling and trapping The End inside their Titan. Crane's death, however, was not in vain, as the remaining three pilots were able to seal Supreme and The End inside Cyber Space, where they remained trapped for thousands of years.
A memory of Crane from before their battle with The End appeared on top of the fourth Trial Tower on Ouranos Island. Crane acknowledged Sonic as a hero who wants to protect others and lamented that they were unable to do so for their own people. As with the others, Crane challenged Sonic to a trial to determine if he was worthy of defeating The End.
Personality[]
Very little is known about Crane, but being responsible for piloting one of the Titans implies he was very skilled and respected among his people. He was shown to be very courageous and quick-thinking, willing to take drastic and innovative measures to keep earth safe from The End. He was also respectful to the Elder, even with the threat of planetary annihilation looming over them all.
Crane has some similarities to Sonic the Hedgehog. Both are considered heroes and have a desire to protect others. Additionally, both display a self-sacrificial nature; Crane sacrifices himself in order to contain The End and save his people, whilst Sonic takes on large amounts of cyber corruption in order to free his friends from Cyber Space.
Crane's name corresponds with his Titan, Supreme, and the fallen Ancient tribe it was designed to honor, as said tribe has wings.[2]
Additionally, all four Titan pilots are named after creatures that are important to Chinese culture.
