The Blue Seed of Defense[2] (マモリの実[3],Mamori no Mi?) is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Being a type of Seed and collectible item, it can strengthen the user's defense after trading it to a Hermit Koco.
Blue Seed of Defense is deep sky blue colored fruit with round conical shape. Rough from its surface, it has multiple cyan crevices around it and a short stalk on the top. Surrounded by its cyan aura, the Seed's movement in the mid-air leaves a trail of cyan square symbols and small lightning spots.
In Sonic Frontiers, Blue Seeds of Defense are collectible items found in Open Zone areas. They can be obtained by defeating regular enemies who will drop Seeds to the ground after being destroyed, or completing different Challenges spread around the Open Zone area in order to summon them.[4] Blue Seeds of Defense can also found inside Steel Containers or popping up under the Open Zone terrain in unexpected spots after the player has successfully performed the Cyloop.[5]
With enough of Seeds being collected, the player can then head to Hermit Koco, who can be found wandering in certain spots of the Open Zone area. Trading Blue Seeds of Defense to Hermit Koco makes it to power up the player's defense stats by one.[2] 246 total seeds are needed to power up to max level, one per level up to level 25, two per level for levels 26-50, three per level for levels 51-75, and four per level for levels 76-99.
The player can purchase Blue Seeds of Defense separately by trading Treasure Tokens or Gold Cards after receiving them from the Fishing Spot minigame hosted by Big the Cat. Each Seed is worth of two Treasure Tokens when chosen in the "Trade Tokens" store. In addition, fishing a treasure box may contain a single Blue Seed of Defense for the player to be obtained.[6] It is also one of few items in the Fishing Spot minigame that does not grant any Treasure Tokens. If the player pre-ordered Standard Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition of the game with Adventurer’s Treasure Box bonus, Sonic would automatically receive ten Blue Seeds of Defense at the beginning of the game.[7]
