Seething Bazelgeuse is a Variant of Bazelgeuse, first introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Appearance[]

Seething Bazelgeuse has a more metallic blue coloration to its body when in its normal state. Its normal state is like Bazelgeuse's heated state. It can power up even further, with its head and tail glowing white hot, then beyond that, glowing a searing purple-white.

Behavior and Abilities[]

Seething Bazelgeuse has further developed its explosive scales to a devastating degree. When enraged, it enters the Seething State/Crimson Lotus State. In its first powered-up state it drops explosive scales as usual, though these scales can be flung with more attacks at a wide range. In its second powered-up state, the scales glow purple-hot before exploding in a huge blast radius. These scales will stick to surfaces, including walls. When all its scales are glowing purple, Seething Bazelgeuse will unleash its most powerful move: soaring into the sky while scattering scales in a wide area, then crashing back down with a massive explosion. This attack uses up all its explosive scales, making it revert back to its regular state. Seething Bazelgeuse has the ability to fling scales just by swinging it's head or tail removing it's usual need to do bombing runs. Not only do they fly more wildly but because they are always heated up it has no need of needing to detonate them with it's body.

Notes[]

General Notes

  • Its head, lower body, and both individual wings can be broken, and its tail severed.
  • While it can do all attack moves of the regular species, Seething Bazelgeuse is more accustomed to terrestrial combat and is less likely to take flight during combat.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse will modify its grounded moveset and tactics once its bombs start glowing purple, with changes to its moveset including being able to perform its plowing charge twice and being able to finish its tail sweep attack with a tail slam.
  • Curiously, Seething Bazelgeuse doesn't adopt the same nomadic behaviour its High Rank counterpart is famous for.
  • Its roar is substantially different from its regular counterpart's, being far more guttural and throaty.
    • Seething Bazelgeuse's roar after its ultimate attack instead adds a shrill screeching.
  • Interestingly, Seething Bazelgeuse's and Bazelgeuse's bomb scales are capable of inflicting Blastblight only on other monsters. Instead of Blastblight, a hunter will instead be inflicted with Fireblight when hit by the same attacks.[1]
  • Seething Bazelgeuse was voted 73rd place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.[2]

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

  • Seething Bazelgeuse replaces the standard Bazelgeuse in Master Rank.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse's bomb scales are unusually deadly against Trailraider monsters, often taking them out with one or two of blasts even if their unity level is maxed. This odd effectiveness also exist on Savage Deviljho's jaw slams.

  • Monster Hunter Rise

  • As revealed in the final Digital Event for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Seething Bazelgeuse was the third most-hunted monster in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse was added to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak in the first Title Update along with Lucent Nargacuga, Silver Rathalos, and Gold Rathian on August 10, 2022.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse is unlocked at MR 10, alongside Amatsu, Chaotic Gore Magala, Flaming Espinas, Gold Rathian, Primordial Malzeno, Silver Rathalos, Velkhana, Violet Mizutsune, and Anomaly Quests. The player must speak to Arena Master Arlow to accept the quest.
    • Some of these additions specifically require other quest completions to unlock, Primordial Malzeno requiring Amatsu to be defeated, both Rath Rare Species requiring Seething Bazelgeuse's defeat, and Violet Mizutsune requring Flaming Espinas' defeat.
  • Unlike in Iceborne where Seething Bazelgeuse appears exclusively in the Elder's Recess and Guiding Lands, they now appear in every zone like regular Bazelgeuse.
    • It also doesn't replace regular Bazelgeuse, as it can be fought in Master Rank too.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse has an attack where it drags its tail to the ground while flying at high speeds.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse gains a new attack where it stands back while walking forward before slamming its face into the ground and causing an explosion.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse has a new aerial attack where it flies around, dropping bomb scales a few times before landing, similar to what normal Bazelgeuse gained.
  • Dealing enough damage to Seething Bazelgeuse's head and/or tail while they are glowing will eventually knock that part out of this state, dealing large amount of damage, and cause it to fall over. Knocking one part will not affect the other one, thus if enough damage was dealt during the fall over, the knock down can be chained into another knock down.
  • Seething Bazelgeuse is one of the few monsters capable of an altered Anomaly Burst, which will explode after the afflicted specimen's ultimate attack.
