A Rathalos so mighty, it was crowned an Apex. It is eternally possessed by wrath and terror, possibly due to the myriad wounds that cover its body. Its every breath releases flaming jets that singe the very air.. The call of an Apex unleashes its tortured anger on nearby beasts, driving them into a frenzy.

Apex Rathalos are an Apex Variant of Rathalos introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Physiology[]

Apex Rathalos are similar in appearance to the Dreadking Rathalos, though with more elements of a normal Rathalos than a Frenzied one, with a normal-ish skin tone and equal size. It has multiple red scars covering its body, like the other apexes do. the most notable feature is its neck which will glow a bright orange when it breathes fire or roars, signalling a massive burning flame deep within its throat.

Behavior and Abilities[]

Apex Rathalos are extraordinarily hyperviolent and extremely aggressive, and will not hesitate to attack on sight. He will attack like a normal Rathalos, swooping in from above and breathing fire. Where it differs, though, is his claw attacks and fireballs. The claw attack will send hunters in the air, followed up by a fireball. The fireballs are significantly larger than normal ones and move slower, but on contact they will charge up for a second before exploding in a wide radius, similarly to the fireballs of a Dreadking Rathalos.

When enraged, he is known to go high in the sky and cover the area in his massive fireballs. The fireballs that land will slowly build up before exploding.
