Luan wakes up with a pimple on the day of her first date with Benny, so she turns to the siblings for help.
Synopsis[]
Luan wakes up with excitement, because, as she explains to Mr. Coconuts, today is her first date with Benny. As Luan figures out what to wear, she discovers that a pimple has formed on her cheek. Luan asks Lori on what to do, but she simply states that pimples are normal, and claims that Benny will like her regardless of her pimple. At that moment, the other siblings arrive and notice Luan's pimple. Luan asks for their help, and they all agree.
From this point on, the siblings attempt to help Luan get rid of her pimple through various means.
Lori attempts to use a tip from Sixteen 1/2 Magazine where a pimple patch will make the pimple go away in five seconds. However, the trick doesn't work, since Lisa points out that the magazine's information is false.
Lisa attempts to help out by zapping the pimple with a laser, but she miscalculates her aim and the laser ends up bouncing around the room and burning Luan's scrunchie off.
Lynn attempts to help her out by making her sweat the pimple off. Unfortunately, this causes the pimple to grow in size, making Luan's dilemma worse.
Lucy attempts to contact the spirits, but nothing happens.
Lincoln attempts to use a piece of frozen meat to make the pimple shrink, since he says that Rip Hardcore uses it to reduce swelling from bug bites. However, Charles come in and steals the meat.
Seeing how they made no progress, Leni comes up with the idea that if they can't get rid of it, they should cover it up. At Reininger's, Miguel manages to cover up Luan's pimple with a little makeup, and says that if the makeup ever falls off, he provided a bag of samples for backup touches.
Arriving to Owen Walter Park, Luan jumps out and meets up with Benny at the park's pond dock. As Luan and Benny ride in a swan-shaped pedal boat, Luan's sweating causes her makeup to wash off, exposing her pimple. Acting fast, Luan quickly swims back to shore and calls up the siblings, asking for her bag of samples. Unfortunately, Lola has taken the samples to do makeup on Mr. Sprinkles (her teddy bear). Acting fast, she requests her emergency clown bag, and the siblings quickly head to the park. After getting her bag, Luan quickly puts on a clown costume and heads back to Benny, who is ready to have a picnic. Suddenly, Luan gets hounded by a group of kids who mistake her for a real clown, causing her to retreat and ask her siblings for another disguise. Arriving back to the park, Lincoln looks around for something to disguise Luan and discovers Flip selling cotton candy, causing him to get an idea.
Luan goes back to Benny with a beard of cotton candy, and Benny suggests that they play chess. As they play, a swarm of bees come in and eat away Luan's "beard" causing her to hide her face in various ways. When Luan spots a man in a unicorn outfit nearby, she proceeds to steal the head, but this causes a park ranger's horse to fall in love, causing her to run off. After tricking the horse to go in one direction, Luan suddenly gets stuck in a tree, requesting her siblings to get her out. After the siblings get Luan out, Benny catches up with the siblings and asks where Luan is. Luan, realizing that she's ruining her one day with her date, decides to finally expose her pimple. After doing so, Luan believes that Benny wouldn't want to hang out with him, but Benny says that he still likes her, regardless whether or not she has a pimple. After Lori escorts the remaining siblings away, Luan and Benny decide to spend their remaining date in the photo booth. As they look at their photos, they suddenly get a third strip of photos, showing their dummies having taken photos of themselves seemingly by themselves, much to their horror.
The plot of the episode is very similar to "Stage Plight". In both episodes Luan is insecure about her relationship with Benny (shyness and pimple), she tries to get closer to him, but she keeps stalling him due to her insecurity, in the end Benny tells her she didn't need to be afraid of anything. Additionally, Mr. Coconuts and Mrs. Appleblossom were briefly living puppets.
This episode reveals what Luan looks like with her hair down/without her scrunchie on.
The newspaper Luan uses to hide her pimple reads "Colton Davis Debuts New Hit 'Pony Boy'", referencing the storyboard revisionist.
This episode reveals that Miguel is a skilled makeup artist.
This episode indicates that Mr. Coconuts and Mrs. Appleblossom are somehow sentient, as they were able to take photos together in the photo booth seemingly by themselves.
This episode reveals Luan keeps pictures of Mr. Coconuts and Mrs. Appleblossom's first meeting from "Stage Plight" in a heart-shaped locket.
The title card shows Luan's pimple on her left cheek. However, it's on her right cheek in the episode.
This episode takes place on March 20, as evidenced by Luan's calendar near the beginning of the episode.
Further, the episode likely takes place in 2021 or 2027, as March 20 is shown to be on a Saturday.
References[]
A Pimple Plan - The title of this episode is most likely a reference to the 1998 Sam Raimi neo-noir crime thriller film A Simple Plan.
Little Richard - Luna's line, "Good Golly, Miss Molly!", references the 1958 song of the same name by this artist.
Looney Tunes - When the park ranger's horse falls in love with Luan (wearing the unicorn mask), it proceeds to chase her by hopping on all fours, much like Pepé Le Pew.
Santa Claus - The facial hair that Luan makes out of cotton candy looks almost exactly like this holiday figure’s facial hair.
Errors[]
When Luan and Benny play around in the photo booth, Benny's hair is drawn more like as it had appeared in "L is for Love."
When Luan smiles into the mirror, her braces are drawn over the spaces in between her teeth, rather than over each tooth where they would belong.
Possible: When Luan works out in the bathroom with Lynn, her pimple is missing. It's possible it was hidden to build up the reveal that it grew in size.
When Miguel gives Luan the makeup samples, the bag is peach. Later, when Lola uses the makeup on Mr. Sprinkles, the bag changed to white.
In the Polish dub, Benny's name is Benjamin, despite it being Benedict in "Stage Plight."
Lynn's eyelids are the same color as her skin.
In some scenes throughout the episode, Luan's bottom teeth weren't detailed.
When Luan reveals to Benny her pimple, she removes the mud with her right arm but then in the next shot, Mr. Coconuts is on her right arm.
