Episode Information

"Sales Forced" (originally titled "Wick-le Down Economics") is the nineteenth episode of the eighth season, and the three-hundred-fifty-second episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

When Lisa's science club holds a fundraiser, she struggles to master the art of salesmanship.

Synopsis[]

At the elementary school, Miss Allegra announces to her science club that they will be holding a fundraiser selling scented candles in order to obtain the funds for a high-powered telescope called the Galacta-tron 3000. She states that, in order to afford the telescope, everyone in the club must be able to sell every one of their candles. Seeing the simplicity of the task, Lisa believes it will be a piece of cake.

However, Lisa is revealed to be terrible at trying to sell her candles, as she brings up how expensive the candles are ($15/each), insults someone by bringing up the filthy smell of her house, and struggles to find the right candle for a customer. Because of these failures, Lisa believes that she'll never be able to sell her candles. Suddenly, Lincoln arrives and, upon hearing of Lisa's woes, tells her that he and some of his sisters know how they can help. Moments later, Lincoln, Leni and Lola begin to lecture Lisa on how she can be a better salesman. Leni tells her that she has to be approachable, and that she can accomplish this by greeting people with a smile and maintaining eye contact. Second, Lola tells her that people are more likely to buy from her if she showers them with compliments. Lastly, Lincoln tells her that she needs to look convincing and offers to let her borrow one of his convincing suits (with a little adjusting from Leni). With all this newfound knowledge on what to do, Lisa believes she's ready to start selling.

Arriving to the Chateau Royal Condos, Lisa attempts to sell a candle to Cheryl using the advice she was given. However, Lisa ends up fumbling her pitch, causing her to once again fail to sell a candle. As Lisa bemoans how someone with a brain like hers can sell a candle, she suddenly realizes that her brain might be the problem and gets an idea. Rushing home, Lisa puts on her Brain Lobe Enlargement Helmet (B.L.E.H.) and uses it to locate the lobe that controls salesmanship. After locating it, Lisa instructs Todd to enhance it, and after enlarging it until it engulfs her entire brain, Lisa becomes an entire new persona, dubbed Sales Lisa.

With her newfound knowledge in salesmanship, Lisa manages to sell her entire stash of candles to customers, from the Mortician's club, to Virginia the pig, and even the customers she initially tried selling a candle to. After Lisa informs Todd that she gave her fundraiser money to the club, Todd is prepared to put the B.L.E.H. back onto Lisa so he can change her back to normal, but Lisa refuses, saying that she still has a desire to sell things. Later that day, Lisa has set up an estate sale on Loud House's driveway, where she is selling her family's personal belongings, as well as their furniture among other things. Later, as Lisa tries to figure out what to sell next, she suddenly gets the idea of selling the Loud House. Seeing as how she's going too far, Todd tells Lisa that she has to stop and attempts to use the B.L.E.H. to change her back, but Lisa refuses and decides to get back at him for the attempt.

Moments later, Lisa is revealed to have sold Todd to a customer. As the customer drives away, Todd refers to Lisa as his friend, causing Lisa to snap out of her trance and make her realize that she just sold her friend away. Before long, Lisa gets into an argument with herself, bickering back and forth between her normal self and Sales Lisa. Seeing the B.L.E.H. nearby, Lisa attempts to use but is stopped by Sales Lisa. When Sales Lisa proclaims that she can't be stopped, Lisa gets the idea of having Sales Lisa try and sell it to her, as well as demonstrate it. Sales Lisa does as she's told, and before long, she discovers she has been deceived, as Lisa proceeds to activate the device to get rid of her once and for all. Now back to her normal self, Lisa states that she has one more thing to do.

Later, it is revealed that Lisa has gotten Todd back. After presenting her friend with a basket of pastries, Lisa gets a notification on her computer, where she discovers that, because their last fundraiser was such a success, her science club is holding another one, this time to obtain to stain-proof lab coats. However, just as Lisa states that they need to sell another wagon of items, Todd overreacts to this announcement by obliterating her computer.

Trivia[]

  • The episode's original title ("Wick-le Down Economics") is a subtle reference to the fact that Lisa and the science club are trying to sell candles (which have wicks).
  • Lisa selling her family's belongings in her estate sale is similar to how Lola was selling Leni's belongings in the Season 1 episode "Sound of Silence". However, unlike that episode, which was actually a fabricated lie, Lisa was actually selling her family's belongings for real.
  • This episode reveals that Lincoln has multiple versions of his convincing suit.
  • Cartoon physics: Lisa gets into a fight cloud brawl with only herself.
