Carlos Garcia

This article is about a character in Power Rangers Dino Fury.

Park Warden Carlos Garcia is the short-tempered, stern warden of Dinohenge, and the father of Javi, step-father of Izzy and husband of Rina in Power Rangers Dino Fury and Power Rangers Cosmic Fury.

History[]

Dino Fury[]

Warden catches Amelia, Ollie and his mother around Dinohenge and tells them off for trespassing before detaining Lani while Amelia and Ollie are forced to remove her equipment. TV STORY-Destination Dinohenge

After Lani is released from custody, the Warden bans the three from ever going back to Dinohenge. He also refuses to believe the Dino Fury Rangers' beliefs that the Sporix are here on Earth, warning them that the next time they talk about aliens and UFOs, they only brought their stories on themselves, as he threatens to come after them if they ever act up again. He later appears again in the near end of the episode where Zayto records a public message to the rest of Pine Ridge about the Sporix at large, though he grows weary over the fact that the Dino Fury Rangers and the Sporix would soon make a big mess out of the entire city. The Warden arrives at the museum where Mucus, Boomtower and Draknarok had stolen the Nephrite Orb and attempted to stop them, only to be blasted away, and helplessly saw Javi take the orb, and his car, away from them. Soon after, the Rangers take him to the hospital and catch up after he is released with minor injuries, where Izzy meets up with him before he takes off. TV STORY-New Recruits

Not long after Javi and Izzy joined the Rangers on their quest to eliminate the Sporix, the Warden was shocked and furious to discover that Javi spent a lot of his money on his new keytar and grounds him for wasting it, confiscating his keytar. After Javi and Izzy loses a battle with the Sporix, the Warden extends Javi's punishment for not taking care of his step-sister. TV STORY-Stego Search

The Warden later came over to Zayto, Amelia, Ollie, Javi and Izzy as they had finished an exercising session to ask them about flyers for gym membership appearing on his desk, sock drawer and sandwich (which he took a bite out of), which Izzy is trying to convince him to let her join it, and he gives her his blessing after she makes cat faces. Not long after, he calls Javi and Izzy, warning them to stay away from Evergreen Park, claiming to have seen a Sporix Beast, and already called the Ranger Hotline himself. However, his call didn't go through, because Mucus had hijacked the hotline. TV STORY-Super Hotshot

While trying to wake people up after one of Void Knight's sleep bombs knocks them out, he becomes a victim himself. TV STORY-Crossed Wires

As Izzy and Fern were getting ready for prom, he intended to take a hidden picture, only to be told not to by Rina, but eventually gets the whole group when they pick them up. TV STORY-Stitched Up

Seeing Javi with another instrument, a guitar, he tells him off about it before handing him a suit to wear at his award ceremony. However, at the scheduled time, Carlos was disappointed Javi didn’t show up before learning from Izzy he was playing with a band at BuzzBlast and marches over there. As Carlos reprimands him, but Javi is tired of his father's attitude and calls him a hypocrite, he reprimands him since Carlos wants Javi to support him and his medal but Carlos does not support Javi at all. A stunned Carlos is then given a tablet by Jane to watch the show, after seeing that Javi has a great talent for music Carlos realizes his mistake, when Javi returns to BuzzBlast, Carlos asks if they can talk and he apologizes to Javier for not supporting him and being too harsh and accepts that music is part of what his son is, Javi accepts his apology but accepts that Carlos was right that music was only a hobby for Javi and decides to dedicate himself professionally. When Javi joins a music performance contest "Songathon", Carlos is present to have listen to Javi's new song before the contest starts. However, upon discovering Blair somehow stole Javi's new song undetected during the contest, Carlos tries to help his children to testify against Blair to the judges, but no avail because they have no evidence of Blair's crime, leading Javi have no choice to sing at Day 2 after coming up with plans to defeat Blair. Once Javi managed to use a same song in both different tones and music equipment with the help from Zayto, and thereby won the contest, a proud Carlos begin to take selfie with his children and their friends. Before Javi was announced as a winner of the contest, Carlos and other spectators temporarily watched a Sporix Beast named Mucus streaming her dance performance song for her participation, before she was interrupted by both Slyther and Wreckmate, and thereby disqualified from the contest. Carlos approaches Izzy following her Buzzblast training segment and talks to her and Fern about their Oakdale College applications, which the latter got, and is waiting for the former's. Later, when Hengemen attack the plaza, Carlos and Fern get separated from Izzy before Carlos attempted to defend Fern from some Hengemen, only for the Green Ranger to arrive and save them. Later, upon hearing Izzy turned down her application, he heads over to the track to demand an explanation before walking away to accept a phone call from Rina. He later gets caught up in an attack by Quickspine, injuring his leg, allowing the Sporix Beast to steal his keys. TV STORY-Things Unspoken

Carlos and several park troopers survey a drill, which was to the key that was stolen before Void King, Slyther and Wreckmate arrive. While hiding, Carlos calls the Ranger Hotline before watching their failure to get it started and left, resulting in Carlos telling the hotline to rescind the alert. TV STORY-Guilt Trip

Carlos was put in charge of evacuating civilians when the mayor was revealed to be out of town. During the Sporix battle, Carlos guides some civilians to safety, which is witnessed by Orria. TV STORY-The Invasion

Cosmic Fury[]

Izzy, in her Ranger form, meets up with Carlos at Aiyon's Cafe to warn him about Zedd's potential invasion before they mutually agree that without any intel on when it'll occur or if it does, they won't alert the city before Izzy leaves to pack for Oakdale, nearly exposing her true identity. When Zedd invaded Earth and built a prison, Carlos, Rina, and Lily were among those captured and sent to the prison as Tarrick informs the Rangers of the news, devastating Javi and Izzy. TV STORY-Rock Out

Upon being released during Zayto, Aiyon, Solon, and Tarrick's resistance, Javi and Izzy met up with him, Rina, and Lily with Carlos shocked at the former now having a cybernetic arm and demands an explanation once the invasion was over. TV STORY-Operation Seasoning

Carlos watched Javi's concert from backstage, saw a photo of Amelia's newborn sister, and joined the others in storming the stage to celebrate with his son. TV STORY-The End

Personality[]

Park Warden Garcia is easily intimidating as well as short tempered as he doesn't hesitate to rebuke anyone for no reason. In terms of parenting, Garcia was often harsh on Javi, especially since he disapproves his musical endeavors and wasting money on new instruments, easily driving himself to the brink of humilating his son in public, but rarely expressed his concern for him. He seems to favor his step-daughter more in her athletics, and is protective of her, but can also be disappointed in some of her actions. After Javi told him off about not supporting him and vice-versa, Carlos came to respect him, even listening to him at some points, also coming to terms with Javi becoming a singer.

Portrayal[]

• Carlos is portrayed by Blair Strang, who had previously voiced Bork in Power Rangers S.P.D.. This role marks Strang's return to the Power Rangers franchise after leaving it 16 years ago.

• He had at least 17 previous run-ins with Amelia, earning him the nickname, "Buzzkill."
• He is said to be a bad cook.

• Simon Bennett revealed in his tweet that executives and staff originally want Warden Garcia's character to be named as "Sheriff Garcia" since the Parks HQ was originally the Sheriff's Office on the original script before they ended up deciding upon name the character as "Warden Garcia" while also changing the location of the sheriff's office after quite a few scripts had been written. He also said that it was due to the Black Lives Matter movement, and the change is largely supported by Hasbro. This explains why Warden Garcia sometimes behaves a bit like a police officer.
• He apparently abstains from addressing his children by their nicknames, instead referring to Javi only as "Javier" and Izzy as "Isabella."

• He likes cats.
• With his family, shares the same last name as Antonio Garcia though no relation has been established.
  • He also shares his given name with a Black/Green colored Ranger in the franchise.
