Valorous Roland/Script
At the Dragon's Gate, Nergal demands that Ninian open the gate; she refuses, and Nergal attempts to force her. Ninian resists Nergal's power and suddenly transforms into a dragon. Ninian seizes her opportunity and escapes; Nergal taunts her as she flees.
Eliwood and company enter the shrine of the legendary Roland to find it filled with lava. Athos explains that the legendary weapons needed to be protected, and warns that Durandal is guarded by those who fought in The Scouring.
Once Eliwood manages to bypass Georg and approach the altar, Athos calls out the spirit of the hero Roland. Athos informs Roland of the group's need for the legendary weapons; Roland grants Athos' request and bestows Durandal onto Eliwood.
Eliwood exits the shrine, prepared to face Nergal. However, an Ice Dragon suddenly appears; Eliwood, guided by Durandal, strikes the dragon down in a single blow. As the dragon dies, Athos notices something is wrong, but is interrupted by Nergal's sudden appearance. Nergal claims Ninian proved to be useless, and puts Nils in a trance to use take him. Eliwood demands to know what Nergal did with Ninian; Nergal states that Eliwood has just killed Ninian, and begins to taunt him for it. Ninian takes her human form once again, and Eliwood rushes to her side. Dying, Ninian tells Eliwood that she is glad he is unharmed, but Eliwood is beside himself with grief and regret. Nergal attempts to depart with Nils, but Athos attacks him with Forblaze. Nergal takes little damage, and boldly proclaims that no legendary weapon can do him harm. Nergal then leaves without Nils, claiming he does so out of respect for the man Athos used to be. Soon after, Nils awakens to see the corpse of his sister, and is himself grief-stricken.

Intro: I see... shades of the battle yet to come... Augury: A moment, please... ... ... ... So much heat... Burning... A cave of lava? There is... It radiates immense power. The guardians of the sword... Don't anger them. Only Lord Eliwood and... a few others can enter the cave. But who to take? Strong allies, those who can attack from a distance. Healing magic... one who wields Physic...

This map is divided into three distinct lanes separated by walls and valleys that even your fliers cannot cross. Eliwood stands alone in the center. He faces mostly axe users, some of whom pack Hand Axes, a couple of swordsmen, and one Knight. Give him a good sword and lance, and preferably a Light Brand (if you don't have one, a Javelin will do). The west side consists of magic users. The vast majority are Mages, plus a Shaman, a Monk (who hits like a wet noodle), and a Sage with Bolting. If Canas has been well-trained and has B-rank in staves for Physic access, he is the ideal unit to send here. Otherwise, Pent can do quite well, or you can simply make do without Physic. The east side consists of Archers, one of whom packs a Longbow, plus a Knight with a Javelin and a Sniper with another Longbow. Send a bulky axe-wielder like Hector or Hawkeye with a Hand Axe to take care of business here. Ninian permanently leaves the party and Nils takes her place. He inherits her inventory and stats, but not her supports. Nils is pretty much dead weight on this map since he can't reach his comrades and play for them. Merlinus cannot be deployed on this map, and there are several drops. The east unit has it the easiest since they only get one Elixir, so just leave an inventory slot open and you're good. The west unit similarly gets only a Pure Water and a Vulnerary. Eliwood, on the other hand, gets a Vulnerary, a Rapier, and an Elixir, so inventory management might be a problem if you want to loot everything. Finally, the boss Georg is a Berserker with 1-2 range and high crit. The Iron Rune that Lloyd/Linus dropped last chapter really helps; make sure to hand it to whoever you want to fight Georg.
The battle itself is mostly straightforward. Just march forward and kill everything in sight. Be wary of the bright spots on the floor, as they are traps that deal 10 damage to any unit who ends their turn on one. Make sure to have your west unit force the Sage to expend his Bolting tome before Eliwood advances. Once you reach the north end of the map, your units can regroup and face Georg. Beware that unlike most bosses in the GBA games, he does move and initiate combat unprovoked. If Eliwood is underleveled to the point he can't make his way north on his own, you can send your other two units to reinforce him and escort him to the seize point.
