Chaos Dragon's Might/Script
Picking up right from the end of the last chapter, Lianna and Rowan confront Darios and tell him his plan failed. King Oskar then asks his son how he plans to fix this apparent mess in which Darios responds they only need royal blood. Darios then stab and kills his own father to use as the sacrifice, horrifying the Aytolisian Army, especially Lucina. With the ritual complete, Darios absorbs the Chaos Dragon, granting him enormous power he vows to use to destroy his enemies. After seeing all this, Rowan and Lianna have a moment of self-doubt, wondering if their friend can still be saved. All the Gleamstone bearers then offer their words of encouragement and support, renewing the twin's spirits. Darios however reveals that the castle will soon be filled with monsters and Gristonne troops, declaring that the Aytolisian army will be destroyed entirely.
During the battle, the party fights through the monsters to weaken Darios's dark power. While confronting him directly, the real Darios is able to communicate through his possessed body, claiming that he only wanted to get stronger but the Chaos Dragon corrupted his will. With the Chaos Dragon's power gradually weakened by the party and the Shield of Flames, they are finally able to defeat the possessed Darios, allowing the real one to regain control of his body.
Suppressing the Chaos Dragon inside him, Darios begs Rowan and Lianna to kill him in order to stop its revival. The twins refuse, tearfully stating they don't want to lose him and they can find another way to stop the dragon. However it is too late, as their hesitation allowed the Chaos Dragon to be revived within the Aytolis Castle's throne room.
Summary
The combined power of the heroes, the twins, and the Divine Dragon is finally enough to drive back Darios. But he takes drastic measures when he can no longer offer Yelena's blood.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
Although Darios can be encountered and theoretically beaten soon after you start the chapter, there are several factors working against you to achieve this. Thanks to the Dark Crystals, he is surrounded by a red aura which increasing his strength and speed and protects him from being stunned, and he would very likely OHKO you the first time you play this chapter. The crystals also heal him over time, making it possible for him to heal faster than damage can be dealt to him. In order to reduce his aura, you must track down and defeat the Sages guarding the Dark Crystals. Defeating one Sage will reduce the aura to a yellow one, which still increases his abilities but makes him susceptible to stunning. Defeating all of the Sages will remove Darios's aura, which is recommended especially if your characters are at lower levels. Should you manage to bring his health down while there is still Dark Crystals on the map, Darios will use one (the Sage guarding it will retreat) to heal himself but will also maintain his current aura level. Should there be no Dark Crystals when his health is lowered, Darios will heal himself one last time and any aura he still has at this point will shortly be removed, making him a much easier target to defeat.
Trivia
- In an unusual event, a Mend Staff can be obtained in two different ways during this chapter: either from the chest or by defeating an Outrealm Sentry. This may either be intended to help ensure the player gets the staff or simply an oversight. However, even if the player is to do both methods, only one staff will be added to the inventory at the end of the chapter.
