“ | Third Sister: Lord Vader will have you at any cost. Obi-Wan: You mean, Anakin. You knew who Vader was. Back on Daiyu, how did you know that? Vader would have kept that hidden, and you're too young to have known him. Unless... Unless you were there. Third Sister: It doesn't matter where I was. Obi-Wan: The night of Order 66, you were a youngling. That's how you knew. You saw him. Third Sister: Stop. Obi-Wan: Anakin killed the others. Third Sister: That's enough. Obi-Wan: He killed the other younglings, but somehow you su... Third Sister: Enough. Enough! [Gasping] We thought he was there to help us. I tried to help them, but I couldn't. I was too weak. When he left, I played dead. Hid with the bodies. Felt them go cold. They were the only family I knew, [Shuddering] and he slaughtered them. Obi-Wan: You're not serving him, are you? You're hunting him. Let me help you. Third Sister: Why would I ever trust you? Obi-Wan Kenobi: Because we want the same thing. Third Sister: Do we, Obi-Wan? Do you really want Anakin dead? Where were you while he was killing my friends? He was your Padawan. Why didn't you stop him? Why didn't you save us? I don't need your help. I don't need anyone. |

Reva Sevander, better known as the Third Sister, is the secondary antagonist of the 2022 Disney+ Star Wars miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi.
She was a Jedi youngling who survived Order 66 and fell to the dark side of the Force, joining the Galactic Empire by becoming part of the Inquisitorius. The Third Sister is later involved in trying to track down Obi-Wan Kenobi, an Order 66 survivor, whom she specifically targets out of a desire to gain Darth Vader's favor, all just to get closer to Vader and kill him for killing her youngling friends long ago.
She was portrayed by Moses Ingram in her first villainous role. As a child, she was portrayed by Ayaamii Sledge.
History[]
Past[]
Reva Sevander was identified as being Force-sensitive as a child and brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She was present when Darth Vader attacked the Jedi Temple in the opening stages of the Jedi purge, and witnessed the man she knew as Anakin Skywalker killing her friends and teachers.
Surviving Vader's assault and swearing revenge, she later joined the Inquisitorius as the Third Sister. As an Inquisitor, she and her fellow Inquisitors hunted Jedi down on behalf of the Galactic Empire. According to The Grand Inquisitor, the Inquisitorius members found her in the "gutter", so it is possible that Reva came from a poor background.
At some point, the Third Sister became obsessed with hunting down the Clone Wars hero Obi-Wan Kenobi and bring him to Vader, the governor of the Inquisitorius. Somehow, the Third Sister learned that Obi-Wan Kenobi had a connection with Bail Organa, a Senator from Alderaan.
Obi-Wan Kenobi[]
Ten years after the end of the Clone Wars, the Third Sister accompanies the Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother to Mos Eisley in Tatooine, searching for a Jedi rumored to be stationed in the cantina. Growing tired of waiting until the Grand Inquisitor finishes interrogating the cantina's owner, the Third Sister throws a knife towards the man, leading the Jedi they were seeking, named Nari, to use the Force to save his benefactor and reveal himself.
The Sister and the Brother are ordered by the Grand Inquisitor to capture Nari for interrogation, but the Third Sister tries to kill Nari, forcing the Grand Inquisitor to intervene and enabling Nari to escape. The Inquisitor chastises the Sister for her recklessness, who in turn chastises him for looking after "scraps" instead of "bigger prey", but the Grand Inquisitor warns her to drop her fixation with Kenobi and start obeying his commands or otherwise he will relieve her of her duties, so the Third Sister begrudgingly relents.
The Third Sister and the Fifth Brother later return to Mos Eisley and ask some Tatooinians about Nari, but the Sister opts to interrogate the citizens about Obi-Wan Kenobi instead, promising to reward or punish them, cutting off a woman's hand after she warns that the Inquisitorius don't have any rights in the Outer Rim.
Despite the Fifth Brother's anger, the Third Sister continues with her interrogation and asks Owen Lars, Luke Skywalker's adoptive uncle, if he knows about a Jedi. Owen refuses to sell either Obi-Wan or Luke out and insists that he considers the Jedi "vermin", but the Sister threatens to kill him and his family if no one gives her information about Obi-Wan.
However, the Fifth Brother intervenes and takes the Third Sister to an alley, where he chastises her for not letting go of her obsession with Obi-Wan. The following day, Nari is found dead in the streets of Mos Eisley, presumably murdered either by the Third Sister or her fellow Inquisitorius. Despite this, the Third Sister decides to take the matters in her own hands and hires the mercenary Vect Nokru and his team to kidnap Princess Leia Organa, the heir of House of Organa, and take her to Daiyu, so Bail would contact Obi-Wan and force him to come out of hiding to rescue Leia.
Shortly afterwards, in Daiyu, the Third Sister meets with the Grand Inquisitor, the Fifth Brother and the Fourth Sister. The Inquisitor angrily chastises her for capturing an Imperial Senator's daughter without telling him first, but the Third Sister insists that her plan must work out and that the Inquisitorius have done worse.
Fed up with the Third Sister's tendency to defy his orders, the Grand Inquisitor dismisses her from the case and tells her his intentions to capture and deliver Kenobi to Vader without giving her any credit, warning that she will be appropriately punished after Kenobi's capture. Undeterred, the Third Sister asks Nokru to put a bounty on Obi-Wan's head, who had just rescued Organa from Nokru's clutches. After seeing Kenobi fending off some bounty hunters, the Third Sister starts chasing after him and Organa through Daiyu's roofs.
Eventually, the Third Sister tracks Obi-Wan and Leia to a shipyard and Obi-Wan hides from her to ensure Leia can get onboard a ship that will take them off the planet. The Sister taunts Obi-Wan by asking him to surrender so he will not die "today". She then informs him about Anakin Skywalker's survival to further conflict him, but before she can find where Obi-Wan is hiding, the Grand Inquisitor appears and demands her to move aside so he can capture Kenobi himself.
However, the Third Sister refuses to obey and stabs the Inquisitor in the gut instead so he can't take all the credit. However, the confrontation with her superior is enough to give Obi-Wan the chance to jump into the ship and depart Daiyu with Leia, much to the Third Sister's anger. She then yells at Obi-Wan that he can't escape her for long, any more than he can escape the one he truly fears to face.
Shortly after, Third Sister contacts Darth Vader at his fortress on Mustafar, the Sith Lord having recently felt in the Force the return of his former master. The young woman assures that the probe droids track down each possible destination of Obi-Wan by affirming that he will pay for the murder of the Grand Inquisitor which she attributes to him but Darth Vader does not care completely about the fate of the Grand Inquisitor because finding the fugitive Jedi is the only thing that matters.
He adds that he knows what she really wanted and promises her that if she succeeds she will be the next Grand Inquisitor but that if she disappoints him, she won't live long enough to regret it. Then joining her comrades at the Inquisitor base on Nur, Third Sister literally acts as if she has full authority, much to the anger of Fifth Brother who is next in line. Third Sister openly states that Vader chose him to lead the mission, so Fourth Sister and Fifth Brother have no choice but to obey his orders, but Fifth Brother hostilely asserts that he will eventually get what he deserves.
When Kenobi's presence is discovered on Mapuzo, the Inquisitors and Darth Vader go there. The cruel Sith Lord proceeds to terrorize and slaughter several villagers to bring his nemesis out of his hole, while the Inquisitors silently watch. Once Vader is out of sight, Third Sister searches on her side in the village and finds the entrance to a tunnel hidden in an assembly workshop. Upon discovering that it is part of the Hidden Path underground network, people helping the Jedi hide, Third Sister ambushes Leia on the other side of the tunnel after killing the pilot who was supposed to take her before kidnapping the girl again.
Leia imprisoned in the Inquisitor base, Third Sister proceeds to interrogate her about the Hidden Path, even trying to fool the child into claiming that they let Obi-Wan die on Mapuzo but Leia states that she knows nothing about them, pushing Third Sister to question her more aggressively. Her attempt by using the Force to force her to speak fails due to Leia's surprising resistance. After long attempts at mental manipulation, Third Sister eventually runs out of patience to the point that she orders the young princess to be tortured. She then encounters Mapuzo officer Tala Durith who reveals information about the Hidden Path to her, only for Third Sister to see through the double agent's attempts to deceive her until the base alarm went active.
Third Sister soon confronts Obi-Wan, Leia and Tala at the boarding dock before they manage to escape but the sudden arrival of two Hidden Path ships allows the three fugitives to escape although Third Sister destroys one of the attackers. Darth Vader later arrives at the base and brutally subdues Third Sister by the Force, enraged that she was unable to prevent the escape. The woman calms her master by revealing that she had hidden a tracer in Leia's toy droid. With the Sith Lord warning her that he would tolerate no more failure on his part, Third Sister promises that the Tracer will lead them to Kenobi.
On the Devastator, Third Sister informs Darth Vader that the tracer has been located on Jabiim. In gratitude for her devotion, Vader offers her the title of Grand Inquisitor. Once landed on the planet, Third Sister leads the assault on the Hidden Path base with legions of Stormtroopers. She stops when Obi-Wan asks to speak to her from the other side of the armored doors. The former Jedi Master questions her about her knowledge that Darth Vader and Anakin was the same person all along, leading him to quickly figure out she was there the night of Order 66, making Third Sister more and more frustrated.
While reminiscing with anguish on that cursed day, she recounts how she played dead after Anakin mortally wounded her and the younglings were the only family she ever had, making Obi-Wan realize that she only joined the Inquisitorius for a chance to get revenge on the man who had taken everything from her. He offers to ally against Vader, only for the young woman to angrily reject him as she holds him largely responsible for Darth Vader's actions because he couldn't stop her in time. Obi-Wan refutes that she won't be able to do it alone but Reva replies that he doesn't have a clue what she did alone before suddenly punching through the door with her lightsaber, opening up a battle between the two enemy camps.
Obi-Wan soon after surrenders to Imperial forces to avoid further casualties, much to the amusement of Third Sister who informs him that Vader is on the way. The Jedi then tries to appeal to what little goodness there still remains in the young woman, begging her not to let Vader put his poor people through what she has been through and that together they can stop them all. that. Reva fears Vader will see the trap but Obi-Wan is sure the Sith will only see him. She then signals to two Stormtroopers to bring Obi-Wan back inside, knowing full well that he can easily free himself.
Darth Vader enters the hangar alone and tackles a freighter to the ground, only to find it was only a decoy for the real passenger-filled freighter to escape him, putting him in a state of frustration which Reva attempts to exploit to attack him from behind. Unfortunately for her, Vader immobilizes her fatal blow by the Force and then looks her straight in the eyes, saying that Obi-Wan had a good idea by using her against him. As soon as she lets go, Reva attacks the Fallen Jedi with all her fury and determination, only for Vader to easily foil her every attempt through dodging and his superior Force mastery until he disarms her. Splitting the lightsaber in half, Darth Vader returns the other half to his former subordinate and the two begin a lightsaber confrontation.
Once again Reva is outclassed by Vader who once again disarms her with ease. Exhausted, Reva once again relives the slaughter of her adopted family before being impaled through the chest by Vader, just as he had once done. Reva lying on the ground mortally wounded, Darth Vader taunts her for believing that he had not guessed her intentions and that he knew she was the youngling he thought he killed ten years ago. The Grand Inquisitor then appears, having survived Reva's attempted murder, then taunts the young woman in turn before he and Vader abandon her to her fate. Clinging hard to her life, Reva crawls to a damaged holographic message from Organa warning of his fear that Vader is understood for children whose boy is on Tatooine, causing Reva to realize that Vader has hidden offspring.
Surviving and recovering quickly from her fight to the death, Reva returns to Tatooine and interrogates a water vendor for the whereabouts of Owen Lars, having deduced that he was the one hiding Vader's son. After dark, Reva sneaks into the seemingly serviced Lars Farm, only to be mobbed by Owen and Beru. She soon corners Owen outside a vault, asking him if he really loves the child as if he were his son to which Owen says it's his before attacking with a plumbing pipe while touching the Reva's wound open. The farmer in a position of strength questions her about what she wants and she replies that she wants justice before brutally overthrowing Owen. Upon opening the door, she gets punched by Beru to give her adopted son, Luke Skywalker, time to escape through the roof, only for Reva to knock her down to the ground and chase the fleeing boy to Beggar's Canyon.
Eagerly stalking her prey, Reva eventually finds Luke and knocks him off the ledge while he was trying to hide, knocking him unconscious. She approaches the unconscious child and ignites her lightsaber to finish him off but suddenly sees herself younger in Luke's place, causing her to again relive her hellish trauma caused by the one she hates the most in existence as she seems determined to finish the job. Finally, she chose to spare Luke and bring him back to the farm when Obi-Wan had just returned from a victorious fight against Darth Vader.
Once the Lars reunites with their adopted sons while walking away from the former Inquisitor, the young woman kneels and upset, expressing her deep grief buried within her for not being able to save her friends, blaming herself for abandoning them. Obi-Wan assures her that she has not abandoned them and that by turning away from darkness she has offered them peace. She fears, however, that she has become like Darth Vader, only for Obi-Wan to assures her that she is not because she chose not to become like him and that she can now go her own way. With his words, Reva abandons her lightsaber, having finally made peace with herself and Obi-Wan.

Trivia[]

- The first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi opens with a Jedi Master named Minas Velti protecting a group of Jedi younglings from The 501st Legion clone troopers during the Great Jedi Purge at the cost of her own life. Since among the younglings there is a dark-skinned one, some have theorized that she must be a young Reva Sevander. Thus, if the youngling is indeed her, then it could be possible that she holds Obi-Wan Kenobi responsible for her master's death and wants to avenge her.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Joby Harold has stated that he has been asked about this possibility, but for the current moment, he has declined to confirm anything.
- The fifth episode confirmed this to be true as Reva wants to avenge her friends' death by killing Darth Vader, while at the same time, hates Obi-Wan Kenobi for letting the tragedy happen.
- Moses Ingram hopes that her hairstyle as the Third Sister may inspire some children to wear their natural hair if they choose to dress up as the Third Sister for Halloween.
