Drury Walker, better known as Killer Moth, is a supporting antagonist in DC Universe, serving as a supporting antagonist in the Batman franchise and media.
He is a supervillain that acts as the self-proclaimed "anti-Batman"; being a costumed criminal with themed tools and gadgets, who protects criminals from law enforcement for a price. Over the years, Killer Moth has been primarily depicted as an ineffective villain desperate to make both the criminal underworld and the heroes of Gotham City take him seriously, although he has occasionally been shown as a more serious threat. He is most notable for being the first villain Batgirl ever defeated, and as such remains a personal enemy towards her.
He appears as a villain in multiple storylines, serving as one of the two main antagonists of Batgirl: Year One (alongside Firefly). He is an enemy towards the Bat Family (specifically Batman, Batgirl and Robin) and Green Arrow.
Biography[]
Earth-Two[]
The original Killer Moth was a prisoner identified only by his prison number, 234026. While in prison, he read a newspaper article about Batman and decided to set himself up as the "anti-Batman", hiring himself out to the criminals of Gotham City to help them elude capture by the police. Upon his release, he used the hidden proceeds of his crimes to build a Mothcave, modeled on the photos of the Batcave in the newspaper article he read.
Killer Moth also established a false identity as millionaire philanthropist Cameron van Cleer. In this guise, he became friends with Bruce Wayne. Meanwhile, he promoted himself to Gotham's criminals using his identity as Killer Moth, giving them each an infra-red Moth-signal. In his first job, he rescued some criminals from the police and then used his Mothmobile to defeat and capture Batman and Robin. The duo escaped and led Killer Moth to a climactic battle on Gotham Bridge, which ended when the villain plunged into the river and disappeared.
After his first defeat at the hands of Batman, Killer Moth had to regain his position in the underworld of Gotham, and he tried to do so by stealing an important object from the Gotham Museum. His plan was foiled by Batman and Killer Moth decided to reveal Batman's secret identity, which he had deduced as being Bruce Wayne. This plan also failed, and it was his own identity that was revealed by Batman. After this, Killer Moth was captured and sent to prison.
Earth-One[]
Killer Moth had a gang of "Moths", all wearing the same "Moth-suit" and using the Moth Mansion as hideout and base of operations. Killer Moth started an extortion racket among Gotham City's wealthiest patrons, and he had targeted Bruce Wayne as his next victim. However, during Killer Moth's attack on Wayne, he and his gang were stopped by the timely arrival of Batgirl, who managed to save Bruce Wayne, giving him time to change into Batman. Moth retreated and planned a second strike, but his plan was thwarted once again by Batgirl, only this time she worked together with Batman and Robin.
For a long time, Killer Moth was out of action, until he decided to return to crime, working together with the Cavalier. However, this combination was ultimately stopped by Batgirl and Batwoman. Seeking revenge, Killer Moth tried to trick Batgirl into revealing the secret location of the Batcave, but once again, his plans were ultimately thwarted. His ensuing confrontations with the heroine ended with the same results.
New Earth[]
Drury Walker was an unsuccessful criminal who no one took seriously. He adopted the false identity of Cameron van Cleer and the persona of Killer Moth to fight Batman.
Killer Moth set up a team called "The Misfits," comprising third-string Batman villains such as Catman and Calendar Man. They made another kidnapping attempt on Bruce Wayne and other prominent citizens. This team proved unsuccessful, turning against Moth when they realized he planned to kill the hostages.
Charaxes[]
Walker was one of the villains who sold their souls to the demon Neron. He asked to become feared, and he was metamorphosed into a moth-like monster called "Charaxes". As Charaxes, Walker resembled a vaguely humanoid, giant brown moth. He consumed humans and spun cocoons in which to keep his prey.
Later on, Charaxes began laying hundreds of eggs, all of which hatched into duplicates of Drury Walker. Charaxes despised his progeny, but was unable to destroy them. Following his capture, these duplicates were taken into government custody. During an argument between various bodies as to what should be done with them, they attacked a scientist and were ultimately killed.
At around the same time, Oracle was confronted by a criminal named "Danko Twag", who claimed to be the real Killer Moth (the one she had defeated), and that Drury Walker had been an impostor. During a rant in which he claimed they were going to be a team, she captured him in an energy cell and he seemingly disintegrated.
Finally, Charaxes was ripped in half by Superboy-Prime during the Battle of Metropolis.
Charaxes would come back in the Blackest Night event.
New 52[]
Zero Year and Early Criminal Career[]
During the Zero Year, when the Riddler cut off all of Gotham from the rest of the world during Batman's first year of operation, Killer Moth became an active criminal, taking advantage of the chaos to abduct Moira Queen - mother of Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow - in order to ransom her for money. Moth botched the kidnapping attempt and was apprehended by Green Arrow and Batman.
After the Riddler was defeated and Gotham was returned to normal, Killer Moth reemerged when he attempted to hold up a charity event sponsored by Wayne Enterprises. However, he was defeated by Robin and Batgirl, the first villain they captured together.
In an unreliable account from Harley Quinn, during the time she worked as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum and before she became an insane criminal, she may have treated Killer Moth by exposing him to Scarecrow's Fear Toxin, revealing his obsession comes from a deep-seated fear of moths.
Continued Criminal Career[]
Six years later, Walker was an active criminal again, having made his way to Seattle to continue menacing Green Arrow. Killer Moth joined a gang of minor supervillains called the Longbow Hunters, who were attempting to claim a bounty on Green Arrow's head for Richard Dragon. Though he managed to corner his target, he was ultimately taken out by a specialty arrow.
Moth would also once again burden Batgirl in Gotham, siding with a new enemy of hers named Fugue who threatened to destroy her. However, Moth was taken out by Blue Bird.
At one point Alfred Pennyworth hired private investigators Sugar and Spike to track down a number of old and obsolete Batsuits that had gone missing after they were relegated to warehouse storage and forgotten. Sugar and Spike learned that the costumes had been stolen by Killer Moth, who was actually eating the fabric.
DC Rebirth[]
Donning a new, tackier costume to fit in with Gotham's other super-criminals, Killer Moth formed his own gang consisting of Ratcatcher, Victor Zsasz, Solomon Grundy, and Firefly, and marketed themselves as enforcers to the city's organized crime families. However, their pitch was less than successful, because they were immediately apprehended by the Gotham Knights.

While never appearing physically in the Batman: Arkham series, Killer Moth has an official biography in Batman: Arkham Asylum. with one of the Riddler's riddles revolving around him.
He has an entry in the Character Bios. His profile states:
Drury Walker was a minor criminal who adopted the identity of Cameron Van Cleer, a master criminal who in turn masqueraded as the costumed super-villain Killer Moth. He is a hired gun for Gotham's gangsters, but his ingenious weaponry, including his cocoon gun, does not protect him from regular defeat at the hands of the Batman.
Batman: Bad Blood[]
Killer Moth is employed as one of the Gotham villains for the Heretic, as a part of scheme by the League of Assassins. At a cliffside church used as a front, he and Firefly dogfight Batwing around the structure. One of Killer Moth's own projectiles hit the base of the cliffside, which caused half the building to begin collapsing; from chasing Batwing, Killer Moth got struck by stone debris too large for him to escape, and he was crushed against the rocks below, killing him.
