Dru-Zod (also known as General Zod or simply Zod for short) is a minor character in the DC Super Hero Girls television series who serves as the main antagonist in "DC Super Hero Boys." He was sent to the Phantom Zone (along with Non and Ursa) by Kara’s biological mother.
He was voiced by Liam O' Brien, who also voiced Infinite in Sonic Forces, Red XIII in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Nightcrawler in Wolverine and the X-Men and both Underbite and Kickback in Transformers: Robots in Disguise.
Biography[]
Past[]
Dru-Zod is a megalomaniacal Kryptonian, in charge of the military forces on Krypton. He knew Jor-El, Superman's father, when Jor-El was an aspiring scientist. When the space program was abolished after the destruction of the inhabited moon Wegthor (engineered by renegade scientist Jax-Ur), Zod attempted to take over Krypton. Zod is confronted by Alura, saying "Council member Alura Zor-El, come to grovel before your new emperor." He commands Non to seize her. Alura tells him "end your insurrection now, general", and tells him that all of Krypton is collapsing on itself. She uses a device to send Zod, Non, and Ursa to the phantom zone, and their disappearance is witnessed by Kara Zor-El (who would later become Supergirl).
Present[]
Later, in the present day in the episode "DC Super Hero Boys," a series of markings, which the team first believe to be spray-tags, create a portal to the phantom zone that releases Zod, Non, and Ursa. He threatens that all of Earth will suffer unless he is brought the heir to the House of El. Supergirl turns herself in, but he doesn't recognize her and demands that Superman be brought to him. Zod and his crew are then confronted by the Super Hero Girls and the Super Hero Boys and after being weakened by kryptonite, they are sent back through the portal. Zod boasts that only a force of nature stands a chance against him, and then he is pushed back through the portal by a dragon-shaped torrent of water made by Aqualad.
He later reappeared in the episode "Back In a Flash" when Batgirl and Flash try to fix a mistake and end up in the nearby present where Zod rules Earth. He and Batgirl go back in time and set things right and Zod’s timeline is eventually erased.

Physical Appearance[]
Trivia[]
- His suit is based on the original Zod played by actor Terrence Stamp in the Superman movies starring Christopher Reeves (Superman (1978) and its sequel (1980).)
- Zod yelling "kneel before me!" comes from the comic books where he says his most infamous catchphrase "kneel before General Zod."
- He is voiced by Liam O'Brien who also appears in Sonic Forces as Infinite, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children as Red XIII, Wolverine and the X-Men as Nightcrawler, and Transformers: Robots in Disguise as Underbite and Kickback.
- Zod was the main villain in both episodes he appeared in.
- Zod is traditionally an enemy of Superman because his father, Jor-El was the one who sentenced Zod to prison in the Phantom Zone. However, in DC Super Hero Girls (G2), Kara and Alura Zor-El effectively take over Superman and Jor-El's roles in the series as Zod's enemy and captor respectively.
- That also makes Zod one of the foes that Supergirl faced and had a personal vendetta against, the next being Ra's al Ghul from the two-parts episode #LeagueOfShadows.
