"The Tech-less Breakfast" is the second segment of the 5th episode of the seventh season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 99th overall episode in the series. It premiered in August 11, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Confident they can just use their funk technology, R & B have promised to do all the cooking for the upcoming Pancake Breakfast. But when all of the funk tech goes down, they have to learn how to make pancakes the Troll'd fashioned way.
Plot[]
It is an extremely hot day in TrollsTopia, to the point that even the sun is sweating. Rhythm and Blues resolve the issue with Funk technology by causing some ice to appear, allowing the other Trolls to have fun in a cooler condition. The duo has invented a freeze ray. Cooper notes he is missing his sled and the two freeze the fur on his butt to allow him to sleigh around.
They have fun until evening. Then Rhythm notes that all the fun tuckered the Trolls out. Poppy says a bunch of them are baking pancakes for the TrollsTopia pancake breakfast tomorrow, so they can't go to sleep. Holly notes that they have to be awake at the crack of dawn to flip all the flapjacks. Rhythm and Blues offer to do the breakfast instead, as the Trolls are delirious, and Poppy goes to prove this by stating a nonsense sentence.
The next morning, Poppy rushes into the kitchen setup, panicking as she slept in and there's no time to fix the breakfast. Rhythm and Blues calm her down and tell her they have it covered; they introduce the Pancaker Maker 3000, their newest Funk tech to make pancakes. They demonstrate that the pancake maker can make a pancake at the touch of a button and tell Poppy to relax. They then ask her if they need a project to go help Cooper out of the ice, as he is realizing he made a mistake.
When Poppy rushes off to help Cooper, the pancake maker suddenly loses power. As they question it, Vibe Town also loses power. Lownote Jones states their ship's Groovtonium core is out of power as it breaks. This causes all Funk tech to have no power until Lownote can fix it. That means no Funk spaceship, no Funk teleporter and no Funk air conditioning, which in this heat means the ship is going to sizzle. At that moment, Branch can be heard stating "Oh no my ball" as a red ball hits the ship and melts. Rhythm and Blues have to make the pancakes the "trolld fashioned way" as Branch's kite hits the ship and sets alight.
Rhythm presents a "cook book" and states a Troll at the library told her it will help her make the pancakes. The issue is the concept of a "cook book" is foreign to the sisters; they try and speak to the book and order it to turn to "breakfast foods", with the book just laying there, resulting in the pair screaming at the book with no response.
Some time passes, and they have managed to get the book open and at the page they need. Blues criticizes the fact they have to turn the "pages" with their fingers. As they follow the instructions, they begin to show their inadaptability as they pour flour incorrectly, getting it all over themselves and turn the page to read they had to pour it "slowly". When coating the surface of the pan, they don't understand that they only have to coat the inside of the pan, as that's the only side they should cook with. By the time they are finished the pan is completely covered in butter, and they can't hold it correctly as it is too slippery. As the pan bounces off against all surfaces, Lownote shows up, stating he forgot he had a backup core; the pan proceeds to smash this core.
They resort to wielding the pan onto the cooker to keep it in place and soon find out why this was a mistake when the recipe tells them to flip the cake mix. Rhythm complains that Trolled-fashioned Trolls are non-specificm as Blues wonders how they will flip the wielded pan. They destroy the cooker in the process.
Later, they are flipping the mix with a spatula, which Blues complains you have to know in advance what that is. Both are a mess at this point. Blues is proud they managed to make a single pancake as they plate it, and as she states they only have to do this enough times before the other Trolls arrive, only at that moment Poppy arrives to tell them everyone is here. Poppy only came backstage into the kitchen to see how they were coming along, but seeing the single pancake, she presumes everything will be fine if the rest are as good as that one.
After she leaves, the duo looks at each other and groan as it took 2 hours to make 1 pancake. The two panic and begin to cook in a rush, while Poppy and the other Trolls wonder what is going on behind the curtain in the kitchen. Poppy goes to check on the sisters, who stop and admit defeat, telling her everything. Though they tell her a heart-felt story, Poppy just responds that she should tell the Trolls just to wait another 10 minutes; she doesn't buy any word of it. She tells them she's seen them solve all sorts of problems and this should be nothing, as it wasn't the technology they had at their disposal, but rather it was down to the pair's creativity. She tells them to improvise and be innovating. They realize they don't have time to make many pancakes, but they do have time to make a larger one.
A montage starts, and the duo make a giant pancake using Vibe Town as the pan. The Trolls enjoy the pancake pieces and Holly says they forgot the syrup; they put a tap into a nearby tree and syrup comes out of the tree. At that moment, Lownote comes in with his "backup backup core" he forgot about. The syrup destroys the core, and he gives a "urgh" before he notices the pancake.

Trivia[]
- The episode's plot is similar to the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! "Funsgiving". Both episodes involve one or more characters offer up to cook meals for an event, only to cause a disaster and bring panic.
- The sun wiping its sweat away at the beginning of the episode is a nod to the scene where Cooper's wanders through a desert in Trolls World Tour, where the sun did the same thing.
- The situation involving all Funk tech losing power is another nod back to Trolls World Tour, when Queen Barb and her Rock Trolls attack Vibe City. Specifically, it nods to Riff unplugging a single light plug that powers the entirety of Vibe City, plunging it into darkness and allowing the Rock Trolls to defeat the Funk Trolls with no problem.
- "Groovetonium" is a pun between "groove" and "plutonium".
- Rhythm and Blues trying to talk to the cookbook is likely a reference to a joke from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, where Scotty talks to a 20-century computer (which he's not used to) and expects it to respond to his voice. The computer does not, forcing him to write by hand. This scene is among the most famous ones in the Star Trek films.
