"Glitter Rush" is first segment of the 9th episode of the first season of Trolls: TrollsTopia, and the 16th overall episode in the series. It premiered on November 19, 2020.
Synopsis[]
When a glitter shortage strikes TrollsTopia, Holly Darlin' teaches everyone about mining for glitter. They strike a rich vein of the sparkly stuff, allowing the Trolls to indulge their wildest glitter fantasies.
Plot[]
Poppy has summoned the Tribal leaders of TrollsTopia (the five ambassadors Synth, Lownote Jones, Holly Darlin', Dante Crescendo and Val Thundershock) because they have a crisis on their hands. She begins by complimenting that they all have really nice hair today. TrollsTopia is out of glitter. Dante suggests the notion they take a moment to act in a panic freak out. Lownote seconds and the Trolls panic. Poppy calms them down and says that the glitter pits will replenish over time, but for now she has asked the Glitter Trolls to help out. It is not going well as the Glitter Trolls cannot fart enough glitter to replenish the pits. Holly is sad about the fact they can't use glitter to celebrate. Poppy proposes that they can use the opportunity to come up with other ideas. Synth pulls out a bunch of seeds and suggests them. After it tosses them like glitter, birds break into the meeting attracted by the seeds. After the birds are gone and the seeds are gathered up, Synth tries the seeds suggestion again and is met with a angry "No!".
Holly puts her feet down and declares she loves TrollsTopia and she will resolve the issues. She explains that the pits may be dry, but there is still plenty more where this came from. They just have to dig for the cold glitter reserves underground. She swears that she will succeed. Poppy is excited as it sounds fun. She asks how to get started, and Holly answers with trinitrotoluene (TNT). The idea of TNT makes everyone hide, but Holly says it is fine.
She shows them how to use TNT and blows open a mineshaft complete with a sign and a crazy miner. The Trolls get to work mining. After hours of digging, Smidge is exhausted, as they have nothing to show for it except piles of gold. Holly gives her a divining rod that will take her straight to Glitter. The rod works but it leads her at Guy Diamond, and the result is another pile of gold. Meanwhile, Biggie and Mr. Dinkles dig up shiny rocks that Holly discovers are fools' glitter, since they don't stick to the skin for three days.
All the Trolls' hard work results in a giant cart of a bit of glitter, which the wind promptly blows away. The Trolls are disheartened and leave. Holly pleads they just have to dig a little deeper and is saddened by the departure of the other Trolls. Poppy says they're tired and suggests another solution.
In the mine, Holly wants to continue, when Poppy notes she can't dig the mine by herself, she hairsprays her hair into a drill. She digs until her hair can't take it anymore. At first it seems she failed, but she soon finds the stuck glitter.
Outside, the other Trolls see their luck and Holly celebrates with a song. The Trolls use the glitter for everything, even making their streets and hats out of glitter since this is more glitter than Holly has ever seen.
Holly is giving out buckets of glitter and is becoming quite wasteful, causing Poppy concern, as Holly throws away a bucket just for a speck of dirt. She tosses away Mr. Dinkles' glitter hat as it's "6 minutes old", and asks how they are being excessive to Poppy; just as the glitter well runs dry. Holly is distraught by this, but Dante says that it is fine since they just got to dig a bit deeper. Holly is taken back at this and says Dante is right. She leaps over the counter and rushes to the mine, while Poppy lags behind due to the fact she can't jump a counter like Holly can.
In the mine, Poppy pleads they can't dig any deeper; her hair won't take it. Holly pulls out the TNT and throws it down the hole. Though they are way out of the blast zone, it hits blowing hot glitter and the two are forced to flee via minecarts. However, while they are ahead, they soon have the issue of Trolls, being Trolls, like to put loop de loops in their mine tracks and soon the magma catches up. They manage to escape, but the magma is still coming and Country Corral is in trouble. Holly breaks a nearby pool of cool glitter and seals the mine shut as the hot lava meets the cool one.
Holly is sad, as it means they now have to get by without glitter, and finally accepts that Poppy is right. Soon, the Trolls begin to reclaim glitter in a recycling project. The glitter pits are now at an all-time high, though Mr. Dinkles is saddened by the loss of his hat. Holly is glad that she can put the glitter rush behind her, but she looks at the mine. Poppy says she can take care of that and uses TNT to blow-close the mine. Holly applauds her and the pair toss hats.

Trivia[]
- The title makes reference to a gold rush. A mock to this is done in the episode itself; when the Trolls actually find gold, they toss it aside as having no value.
- The way the glitter is pulled out is similar to an oil well. Oil received the nickname of "black gold" due to its value in a reference to how precious it is like gold.
- "Fool's glitter" is based on "fool's gold", a nickname given to Pyrite. It originates from the fact pyrite has the same appearance as Gold at first glance when pulled out the ground, but gold is a metal and pyrite is a crystal.
- The birds that appear when Synth throws the seeds are Songbirds. They were last seen in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "CJ's Wooferbug".
- This is the first episode to reference the name "Glitter Troll". Glitter Trolls remain one of the few remaining Troll family classification terms from the Trolls era.
- 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene, otherwise know as "TNT" is a highly explosive substance. It is used in mining to crack open rock and expose ore deposits. It has been a wildly popular explosive for years, due to it being one of the most stable of the commercially used high explosives, which means it's less likely to accidently detonate than most other high explosives available.
- The streets of glitter seen in the episode is likely a nod to the phrases "London streets are paved with gold", which refers to an area that's very well off. It was an old term referring back to a 14th century promotion of London. Likewise, Holly's act of tossing glitter from the top of limo-based fauna are a reference to those who suddenly become rich and are seen in popular media tossing money out of their vehicles to pedestrians as a sign that they're so well off that they don't care about what they do with their money.
- Poppy is a Pop Troll. It's natural for her to be the one to keep suggesting an alternative means to supply the glitter, as Pop Trolls are used to recycling things.
- Poppy notes "If there is a Troll alive who's made big mistakes trying to avoid letting her friends down, it's me!". See the plots of Trolls, Trolls Holiday and Trolls World Tour as examples of this.
- Throughout the episode, Holly says "Go big or go huge!". This is a reference to the phrase "Go big or go home", referring that if one can't succeed by going all out on something, they need to pull out before it's too late. The phrase was also referenced in Trolls Holiday by Branch.
