Reggaeton Trolls are one of the scattered groups of hinterland Trolls of which Tresillo, Marimba and Tambora belong with. These three are the only known Reggaeton Trolls, thus making them a minority group. It is unknown how they're related to each other, or if other Reggaeton Trolls exist or have existed besides them.

History

The trio are first appear in the Trolls World Tour movie when Queen Poppy sends an invite to Queen Barb containing a glitter bomb that explodes in her face. In anger Barb summoned Tresillo, along with other Bounty Hunters were summoned to track down and capture Queen Poppy. The reward is their own domain and to be spared from Barb's conversion to Rock Music, though the land she promises is rather tiny.

The K-Pop Gang find Branch instead and capture him, demanding they be lead to Poppy by him. This is interrupted by Tresillo, who wants Branch for himself to save his own music and both sides have a dance off. Out of respect for each others talents, the eight trolls agree to split Branch, until Branch proposes an alternative. They go with him to Barb's victory Rock concert.

When the Strings are destroyed, they too lost their music, but soon regained it after the Trolls realized that they no longer needed them and the music they love comes now from within.

Biology

Appearance

Due to there being only three members, not much can be said about how Reggaeton Trolls generally look like. Even though, the known members are very similar to each other, not wearing any clothes and only having hairbands and earrings. They have markings across their bodies and in their hair, which are textured to look like a matte latex and cover the otherwise lightly fuzzy texture that most Trolls have in 3D animation. Their hair is dreadlocked and has a wooly appearance, like the Funk Trolls.

Society

It is difficult to judge the Trolls due to their lack of numbers.

Behavior

The only three Reggaeton Trolls seen so far are laid-back but sneaky.

Tactics

Rather than catching Branch on their own, they let The K-Pop Gang do the work and swooped in afterwards to try and grab him for themselves.

Culture

Music

Reggaeton Trolls have a type of music that isn't spoken in the same accent to the rest of Troll Kingdom along with the K-Pop Trolls, and the Classical Trolls.

The genre wasn't impacted by the Rock String overwriting the other 5 Strings, turning them to Rock music and thus preventing any notes of those genres from being played. However, Barb indicated herself that the Strings could still overwrite the Reggaeton Trolls' music, and when Poppy destroyed the Strings, they lost their music. The Strings themselves impacted all music, including that of the 6 Tribes and "everything in between", of which these Trolls' music counts.

Dancing Style

They are seen leaping and twirling in synchronization.

Influences

Reggaeton is a Jamaican-inspired music genre that started in the 1990s. Although it had some prevalence in that decade and the 2000s, it wouldn't become notably popular until the late 2010s. It originates from Puerto Rico and is a Spanish-speaking style of Caribbean music. Despite its name, it is mostly considered a variant of Hip hop, and not Reggae. Reggaeton music uses both rapping and singing results. The lyrics are often about heavily sexual and violent themes, mostly because of either a lack or non-restrictive use of parental advisory requirements in Caribbean countries.

Character Concept

Originally, Queen Barb wanted to destroy all music because she was jealous of the popularity of Pop. In her journey to rid the world of all music but Rock, Barb came across a diner in the middle of nowhere, where Trolls whose music lost popularity ended up. Barb offered an opening slot in her world tour to whomever brought her Queen Poppy. The Trolls inside the diner were among the remaining last of their various kinds, if not the last entirely. At this point in the movie's development, the Reggaeton Trolls had yet to be conceptualized and other Trolls held their position. The trio likely replaced The Mariachi Sisters due to their similarities.
