Marvel's Daredevil, or simply Daredevil, is an American web television series based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It is the third television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series was produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, and originally released on Netflix.

The first season was released on April 10, 2015. The second season was released on March 18, 2016. The third and final season was released on October 19, 2018.

On February 11, 2022, it was reported that the series would be leaving Netflix on March 1.[1] It was later announced that the series would be moved to Disney+ on March 16.[2]

A sequel series titled Daredevil: Born Again, produced by Marvel Studios under the revived Marvel Television label, is set to be released on March 4, 2025.

Season Synopses[]

Season One[]

Marvel's Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

Season Two[]

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell's Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.

Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as the Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt's neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.

Season Three[]

Missing for months, Matt Murdock reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world or embracing his destiny as a hero.

On April 23, 2013, Kevin Feige announced that the rights to the character Daredevil had reverted from 20th Century Fox back to Marvel Studios.[3]

On November 7, 2013, Disney announced that Marvel Television and ABC Studios would provide Netflix with television series' centered on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.[4]

On May 27, 2014, it was reported that Charlie Cox had been cast as the title character in the series.[5]

On November 29, 2018, Netflix announced that the series had been canceled after three seasons.[6]

On February 17, 2019, Jeph Loeb wrote a letter to the fans of the canceled Marvel Netflix series.[7]
