Plot[]
After fifteen years, Danny Rand returns to New York City after a plane crash in the Himalayas killed his parents, the public believed Rand was also dead, but he was in K'un-Lun learning to fight. He later took the Trial of Shou-Lao becoming the Immortal Iron Fist who's purpose is to destroy the Hand. He walks into Rand Enterprises and sees his childhood friends, Ward and Joy Meachum, who don't believe he is the real Rand. He asked for their father, Harold Meachum, and they angrily tell him off, saying he died years ago.
Rand continuously tries to get them to believe it's him, but they eventually sign a restraining order against him. He gets injected with something by a Rand Enterprises guard that knocks him out, he wakes up in a mental hospital, strapped down to his bed. Rand is allowed to go to the phone and call someone. He decides to call Colleen Wing, a sensei whom he had briefly met earlier. Ward meets with someone who happens to be his father, Harold, who had died, but was resurrected by the Hand. Harold sends Ward to Wing to bribe her for a testimony against Rand. Meanwhile, Rand meets with a psychiatric doctor, Dr. Paul Edmonds, who soon begins to believe it's the real Rand.
Harold soon becomes intrigued and goes out to meet with Rand. When finding him, a confused Rand reveals he is the Iron Fist, destroyer of the Hand. Harold realizes this could be his way of getting free from the Hand's control. Joy, he also thinks it might by Rand, sends M&M's to him. When getting the package, Rand separates the M&M's, just like he did when he was a child. Wing thinks about the bribe and decides to visit Rand herself. Rand gives her the M&M's to give back to Joy. When she does, Joy breaks down in tears believing it's the real Rand. Wing doesn't sign the contract after seeing this. Later, Rand finds the strength to summon his Chi. He then breaks out with his Iron Fist.
Wing wakes up to the sound of Ward's guards breaking in to the Dojo. They ask Wing if they have seen the escaped Rand, but she denies it. After they leave, Rand drops from the ceiling, Wing tells him to leave in the morning. The next morning, they negotiate a deal to let Rand stay; however, he cannot go near the students. Later, Joy meets with Rand and gives him an offer, he gets one million dollars if he changes his name. Feeling betrayed, he tells her it isn't about the money, and declines. Rand then goes to an old friend, Jeri Hogarth, to help him get back into the company. Wing gets mad at her student, Darryl, for taking part in an underground fighting ring.
Later, Wing decides to take part in the fight herself and easily beats the bigger man. In a meeting with the company, Rand and Hogarth present an offer of 51% share of the company. Ward and the stockholders obviously decline, but Hogarth presents a pottery item that consists of Rand's fingerprint from his childhood. This proves that he is Rand, leaving the company no choice but to accept. Rand tracks Ward to the penthouse and meets with Harold again.
The next morning, Rand has a brief press conference before starting his first meeting. Later, Joy is attacked by hitmen. After defeating them, Rand finds out the man who sent them is Hai-Qing Yang. Upon confronting Yang, the man explains that Rand Enterprises backed out on their deal of the Red Hook Pier. Rand explains that the Hand made them, the thought of the Hand makes Yang back away. Harold finds out that Joy got attacked and asks the Hand for a favor. They take him to Yang with a ninja mask on. He then kills one of Yang's gang members. Meanwhile, Ward finds the Hand's heroin and uses it.
Rand enlists Wing's help to go down to the pier and eradicate the Hand. They find a captive named Radovan Bernivig, who has been making heroin, the Hand's source of income. King tries to stop them and stabs Bernivig. They have no choice, but to bring him to one of Wing's students, Claire Temple. Temple stabilizes Bernivig who explains that the Hand has his daughter and are forcing him to make the heroin. Ward wakes up from his heroin to find a worried Joy. Meanwhile, Gao kills King for letting them go.
Rand decides to bring Ward to the pier to show him what the Hand is doing. When opening up a container, they find King's severed head. Ward decides not to call the police to avoid a scandal. Rand then finds a note left for him, which says to participate in the Da Jue Zhan in exchange for Bernivig's daughter, Sabina. Ward returns home to find his heroin is gone, so he goes into mental shock. As Bernivig's condition gets worse, Temple brings him to Metro-General Hospital. Suddenly, Bernivig is kidnapped by the Hand.
Rand pursues the challenge and encounters the Bride of Nine Spiders, who injects him with poison, he is then attacked by Scythe. However, Rand uses his Iron Fist to defeat Scythe. Before delivering a killing blow, Gao stops him saying she will kill Sabina if so. Gao lets Rand go with Sabina, but tells him she knew his father.
In his penthouse, Meachum is approached by Hand guards. He becomes unhinged and kills all of them. He then cuts off his own finger as punishment. Later, he tasks Ward with taking the corpses to the lake and dumping them. Rand goes to work and sees Gao in his office. She reveals that she has been in the company for a long time before leaving. Later, Rand infiltrates a Hand warehouse and finds an injured Bernivig, who apologizes and tells them the location of Gao before passing away from the torture. Ward goes to his car to find that his money is gone. He approaches Harold, who he suspects stole his money. After an argument, Ward decides to stab Harold to death, dumping his body in the lake after. He begins to get hallucinations of his father's murder.
Rand arrives at the penthouse and believes it was the Hand's doing. He promises to defeat Gao, but Ward just pushes him away. He, Wing, and Temple decide to surprise attack Gao at her facility. Rand approaches Gao and sees the guards are poisoned by the Hand. He recognizes the poison as the same poison that he saw on his parents corpses 15 years ago. He loses control and goes to punch Gao, but stops himself and captures her.
Harold wakes up in the lake, the Hand had previously given him the ability to resurrect himself. He returns to Ward with a knife, but instead hugs his son, and apologizes. Ward walks out and is stopped by cops, who say they found heroin in his car. Harold buys ice cream for his servant, Kyle, and thanks him. Kyle asks if there is vanilla, which there isn't. This makes the unhinged Harold angry and he beats Kyle to death. The trio interrogate Gao back at Chikara Dojo. Wing leaves the interrogation and slumps over holding her stomach. Rand arrives and sees Wing in bed. Wing reveals she is poisoned and asks Rand to call her master, Bakuto.
Joy is called into the penthouse where she sees Harold. She cries as she finally reunites with her father. Suddenly, Bakuto enters and tells Rand to heal Wing, which confuses him. Bakuto realizes Rand never finished his training. He shows Rand that he can use his Chi to heal. Rand centers his Fist near the poison and heals Wing, but is knocked out by energy he used. Bakuto takes him, Wing, and Gao to his facility.

Bakuto takes him, Wing, and Gao to his facility. In the morning, Wing and Rand wake up fully healed. Rand gets a call from Harold, which confuses Rand, but he dismisses it. Rand begins to feel something is wrong and looks around a forbidden area. He finds Gao in custody. Gao hints that Bakuto is the Hand, but Bakuto walks in and stops the conversation. Rand goes back to the room where he confronts Wing, who tells him that her and Bakuto are the Hand. Rand lashes out in anger, but Wing tries to tell him that the Hand is good and K'un-Lun fed him lies.
Later, Iron Fist begins to break out. He is then helped by his adoptive brother, Davos, who has been tailing him. Wing decides to help them escape as well, but runs off on her own. After, Davos tells Rand he came to bring him back to K'un-Lun to fulfill his destiny as the Iron Fist. Rand Enterprises shareholder, Lawrence Wilkins, walks into his office and is assassinated by Harold who plants evidence stating that Wilkins was the one that stole Ward's money.
Temple opens the door to Rand who is injured from the escape. She removes the blade from his stomach while he rants about Wing. After, Rand meditates on the rooftop and sees Wing approach him apologizing. He doesn't accept it, so she leaves saying there is no point. Wing meets with a Hand student, Becca Yoo, who ties her down and brings her to the blood sacrifice farm, saying she betrayed the Hand. Meanwhile, Rand and Davos go to the same facility to stop the Hand, but see Wing, who has escaped. Rand jumps out of his car to get to her. She tries to attack him saying she can't trust him, but instead Rand hugs her. Wing says that the Hand wasn't what she thought it was. Davos disappointingly walks away when he sees Rand hugging Wing.
Ward wakes up in a mental hospital, hallucinating. Bakuto greets him and says he can free him as long as he becomes head of Rand Enterprises because Harold has become dangerous. Bakuto brings Ward to the penthouse and turns on him, saving his men point guns at all three Meachums. He calls Rand and tells him he has thirty minutes to surrender himself, or Harold dies. Despite Davos' arguments, Rand surrenders himself just before Harold's death, but Joy gets hurt instead. In the elevator, the restrained Rand breaks free and is chased into the city. They stop at Bethesda Terrace where Wing prepares to duel her sensei. Davos tells Rand not to intervene. Wing eventually impales Bakuto, but decides not to kill him, as she is better than that. However, Davos runs in and kills Bakuto, this sparks an argument between Rand and Davos. The latter says that Rand is too weak to kill the Hand like he is supposed to, Davos then walks away. They turn around to find that the Hand has taken Bakuto's corpse.
Joy is brought to the hospital while Wing and Rand enter the dojo and kiss. They suddenly get a text from Ward telling him that Harold is coming. Men then break through the door and they realize it's the DEA. They are forced to flee. After meeting with Hogarth, they find out that Harold framed them for transporting drugs to South America. Rand decides to meet with Gao, who has information to prove his innocence. Gao instead reveals that Harold was the one that caused the crash that killed his parents. Harold was dying and made a deal to be resurrected, but Wendell found out, so Harold had him killed. Joy believes something is wrong and confronts her father, who lies, and she knows. Iron Fist arrives to kill Harold. The two exchange punches until Rand uses his Fist to punch the ground, sending Harold into a metal rod. Rand thinks the battle is over, but Harold frees himself and attempts to shoot Rand, but he blocks it with his Fist, Ward then arrives and shoots Harold, sending him over the edge of the building.
Ward and Rand cremate Harold's body to prevent a resurrection. Feeling betrayed by everyone for their lies, Joy arranges a meeting with Davos to destroy Rand and Ward. Gao listens in the distance. Rand decides to listen to Davos and return to K'un-Lun. He arrives with Wing, but finds dead Hand guards and blood. They then see that the gate to K'un-Lun is closed, leaving it's status to mystery.
