Icon-gotchardThis article is about a set of collectible devices in Kamen Rider Gotchard.

For the toyline, see Ride Chemy Trading Card.

The Ride Chemy Cards (ライドケミーカード, Raido Kemī Kādo) are card devices used by the Riders in Kamen Rider Gotchard. The 101 Chemies are contained inside these cards.

Overview[]

Ride Chemy Cards[]

The Ride Chemy Cards were used by the Alchemys Union to seal the 101 artificial life forms known as Chemy. The current practice of sealing the Chemies in cards was brought forth by Fuga Kudo.[1]

Rainbow Chemy Cards[]

Rainbow Chemy Cards (レインボーケミーカード, Reinbō Kemī Kādo) contain the 101st Chemy, Nijigon. The other 100 Chemies can also be transformed into Rainbow Chemies by Nijigon's Rainbow Breath.[2] This transformation is undone if not all 100 Chemies are gathered.

Replichemy Cards[]

The Replichemy Cards (レプリケミーカード, Repurikemī Kādo) are imitations of Ride Chemy Cards created by the Three Dark Sisters. The Blank Cards stolen by Shiori Harima allow them to create numerous copies. RepliChemies are used as disposable tools by Dread, who sacrifices them to take their abilities. However, according to Atropos, certain RepliChemies like Repli Unicon are invaluable.[3]

Daybreak Chemy Cards[]

The Daybreak Chemy Cards (デイブレイクケミーカード, Deibureiku Kemī Kādo) are variations of the 100 main Ride Chemy Cards used by Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybreak. In the parallel future, the Chemies were too captured by Glion to open the Door of Darkness that sealed the Dark King. They were freed by Rinne Kudo but with the cost of her life as she was impaled by Dark King's blade. The 100 Chemies were changed to be saturated in flames and fiery ember colors reminiscent of The Sun.

Legend Rider Chemy Cards[]

The Legend Rider Chemy Cards (レジェンドライダーケミーカード, Rejendo Raidā Kemī Kādo) are cards originating from the World of Legend that duplicate the power of Kamen Riders of parallel worlds used by Kamen Rider Legend. Although they look alike, the cards are different from the Ride Chemy Cards and appear to be strictly inanimate objects. The cards were initially unstable when used in the Gotchardriver, an issue which Ho-Oh Kaguya Quartz adjusted for Gotchard to fight unfettered. Similar cards appear in Gotchard & Geats Strongest Chemy★Great Gotcha Operation however those cards were the sealed Ride Chemy Card forms of Kamen Riders who were turned into Chemies.

  • Behind the Scenes[]

    Etymology[]

    • Ride Chemy is a portmanteau of "Ride" and "Alchemy".

    Notes[]

    Ride Chemy Card Differences

Differences between the trading card version and prop version of the Ride Chemy Cards.

    • During scenes where the Chemies are moving inside their cards, they are animated using Live2D and Nizima LIVE.
    • There are a few notable differences between the appearance of the Ride Chemy Cards in the show and the trading card versions:
      • The bottom of the trading card version has the set/phase pack indicator for each card, card rarity, card pairing, and product information.
      • The trading card version of the card has a barcode on the sides that is read by the DX Gotchardriver in combination with the bar code at the bottom. The bottom barcode is also used by the Gotchard File app to register a card.
      • The card images that are provided by Toei all have the same side barcodes, likely to prevent counterfeiting.[9]
      • Later trading card images provided by Toei are given more effects to better convey the rarity of the card.
      • Images of cards in later phases have a lower resolution, possibly to serve as another deterrent for counterfeiting, as demonstrated by the card for Kamen Rider Geiz (Image provided by Toei on the left, leaked higher resolution image on the right).
    • Rather than creating original Chemy artwork like with the Legend Rider cards, the King-Ohger-based cards instead depict the mecha of the main team and the sixth ranger of the series; Kuwagata Ohger's card features King-Ohger, while Spider Kumonos' card features Tarantula Knight.
Early Iteration Of The Ride Chemy Card

An early iteration of the Ride Chemy Card.

    • An earlier design of the Ride Chemy Cards that features the frame extending around the Level Number can be seen in the storyboard for the second episode.[10]
    • An interview in Uchusen Vol. 182 revealed that the cards used by the actors and suit actors are different sizes. The ones used by the actors are 6.0x8.5 cm while the ones used by the suit actors are 7.5x10.5 cm.[11]
    • With the exception of cards based on the Geats Riders, the cards for supporting Riders have the same codes as the cards for the eponymous Riders of each series and will result in the same sounds. For example, the Kamen Rider Necrom card will produce the same sounds as the Kamen Rider Ghost card.
      • Another exception to this is the extra cards for Revice; rather than re-using the Revi and Vice sounds, cards like Live and Evil instead produce a new generic 'Revice' sound.
      • Cards based on different forms of a Rider also have the same codes as the original card.
    • The artwork for the Legend Rider cards generally use images of the physical suits but edited to appear like drawings. The main exceptions are the cards for Kyuun, Beroba and Kekera, who are depicted with artwork due to originally being CGI.
    • Like most modern merchandise, the cards for Riders from 1 to Decade are labeled "Masked" Riders, while the cards from W onwards are labeled "Kamen" Riders.
