"Metal" (メタル 〜機工城アレサンダー:起動編〜, Metaru ~Kikō-jō Arekisandā: Kidō-hen~?, lit. Metal ~Machine Castle Alexander: Startup~) is a boss theme that plays within Alexander - The Burden of the Father in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, composed by Masayoshi Soken and arranged by Yoshitaka Suzuki and Soken. The lyrics were written by Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and the vocals were provided by both Fox and Soken.
Metal: Brute Justice Mode ~Machine Castle Alexander: Rhythm~) plays within Alexander - The Burden of the Son, arranged by Ken Ito and Soken. The lyrics were written by Fox and the vocals were provided by both Fox and Soken.

Metal[]
There are two versions of the official lyrics of "Metal". The first was released in the "Alexander Awakes" PAX promotional video, and the second was released on the Heavensward: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack. What follows are the "Alexander Awakes" lyrics. The Original Soundtrack lyrics appear to be a misprint: the "Alexander Awakes" lyrics sound closer to what is actually being sung, and the official Japanese translation agrees with the "Alexander Awakes" lyrics. The disagreement is in the final two stanzas, wherein "metal" is replaced by "boom gobbiedoom" and "doom gobbieboom" as in the third and fourth stanzas.

Metal - Brute Justice Mode[]
The vocals of "Metal - Brute Justice Mode" are sampled from "Metal and "Locus". The fifth stanza is sung at the same time as the fourth stanza, and then sung independently.
The official lyrics were released on Journeys: Final Fantasy XIV ~Arrangement Album~. They appear to have a misprint at the end of the second stanza, referring to Brute Justice as "BluteJustice".
- Snap click crank whirr whizz wham boom!
- Wheels humsing uplander doom!
- Crack thoom snap bam bim bangy zoom!
- Ah, nearsoon firebloom, crimson FOOM!
- Stop dizzyheels of the wicked
- Defuse, pop! Debone, slup! Deflate...
- BluteJustice Trancemode
- Twenty-two sectors tested
- Fragments in one direction
- Celestial noise detected
- Delirium unsuspected
- Static tuned in to reason
- Time in the aether deepens
- Transmissions blink uncompleted
- Seven two three two three send
- Yes, falling back right in with the system
- Who'll see you falling back to the end
- When falling back is better than simply
- Falling back into pieces again
Game appearances[]
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward[]
"Metal" plays when the party fights the Manipulator within Alexander - The Burden of the Father, the final turn of Gordias. True to its name and in sharp contrast to the electric tones of the usual boss theme, "Locus", "Metal" is a heavy metal ballad in the language of the goblins, calling for "The end! Oh, the end! Yes, the end!" of the Warrior of Light. "Metal" is also used when the party fights Onslaughter inside Alexander - The Burden of the Son and Refurbisher 0 in Alexander - The Eyes of the Creator.
Before the party engages these bosses in combat, an instrumental version of "Metal" plays as the ambient music, switching to lyrical mode upon engaging. The lyrical version of the track was also used in a trailer for Alexander at PAX Prime 2015.
It is track 58 on the Heavensward: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.
"Metal - Brute Justice Mode" is the theme of Brute Justice within Alexander - The Burden of the Son, the final boss of Midas, created by the fusion of Onslaughter and its four sentai-like robots from Alexander - The Cuff of the Son, deep within Alexander - The Burden of the Son. Fittingly for Brute Justice, who is likely modeled after Voltron, "Metal - Brute Justice Mode" is a 70s Tokusatsu-style jazz theme, created by remixing "Metal" and "Locus".
"Metal - Brute Justice Mode" is track 10 on the The Far Edge of Fate: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.
A goblin in Idyllshire sings his own version of the song: "Smack whack crack wham bang bonk boom! Gob building fancy new room!"
Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers[]
"Metal - Brute Justice Mode (Journeys)" plays as the boss theme against Brute Justice and Cruise Chaser in The Epic of Alexander (Ultimate).
It is track 2 on the Death Unto Dawn: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.
