Clive Rosfield and Ifrit

"Find the Flame" is a boss theme in Final Fantasy XVI. It was composed by Masayoshi Soken and arranged by Soken and Yoshitaka Suzuki, with lyrics written by John Taylor.

"Find the Flame" is referred to as "Clive's theme song" in the development of the game.[1]

To Soken, the theme song is musically "childish" as there is no development and it is a one-sided composition. He originally wrote this track for a promotional video at short notice and did not intend to implement it in the game. After he submitted it as music for the video, people around him insisted that he should use it for the Clive scene. When Soken implemented it, he thought that it was addictive.[2]

Lyrics[]

The official lyrics for "Find the Flame" were first released via Square Enix Music's Twitter account.[3] The official lyrics were released again along with the lyrics for "All as One" on the Final Fantasy XVI Original Soundtrack.

Find the Flame[]

Dig, dig, dig, dig, deeper
Dig, dig, dig, dig, deeper
Delve, delve, delve, delve, deeper
Weep, weep, weep, weep, weeper
Dig, dig, dig, dig, deeper
Dig, dig, dig, dig, deeper
Wake, wake, wake, wake, sleeper
Reap, reap, reap, reap, reaper
Raise thy lantern, pioneer
Shine upon the far frontier
Fingers cracked and body broken
Mind adaze yet soul awoken
Diving into the...mire!
Laid out upon the...pyre!
Never this soul shall...tire!
Running into the...fire!
Your bleary bloodshot eyes open wide in the dawn
Let the light in and brighten the shades that sleep inside you
Find the flame, the flame, the flame
Find the flame, the flame, the flame
Let its light blind you
Delve in this dark abyss.
Fathomless emptiness,
Till the kiss of fire enfolds you!

All as One[]

Once more unto the breach, dear friends
Oh my friends, hear me
Feel the fire blazing
Feel the blizzard raging
Hear the thunder roaring
Follow our fateful calling
Step by step, we climb through the night to the dawn
Hand in hand, we stride to the light, heaven-borne
Step by step and hand in hand we march on
All as one, marching together
Ever on until a new day dawns
Beyond the farthest yon
Beyond infinity
Teeth set, hold hard your breath, dear friends
Oh my friends, hear me
Fear not the tempest wailing
Fear not the boulders hailing
Fear not the darkness surging
Fear not the brightness purging
On and on, we strive through the night to the morn
Side by side, we fly to the light, heaven-borne
On and on and side by side we march on
All as one, marching together
Ever on to claim the heavens' throne
We march together
One for all and all for one
