Link is a playable character on Super Smash Stadium. He debuted exactly one week after the show itself, right alongside Bridge of Eldin, and is arguably the most drastically-changed character in the series.
In Season 46, Linkle was added as an Echo Fighter for him.
In his own universe[]
He's the star of the Legend of Zelda series, which almost always confuses newbies to the franchise, who expect "Zelda" to be the character they play as. He is one of multiple people named "Link" that have appeared over the franchise's history (with Young Link and Toon Link representing others); this is the adult version of Link seen in Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and possibly Breath of the Wild.
Very little is known about Linkle due to her not yet being in a canon Zelda game. A seemingly blatant case of forced diversity, she's been surprisingly well-received by the fandom. Alex likely included her in SSS due to his boot fetish. ;)
Attributes[]
Surprisingly slow for a middleweight; this is often attributed to his projectiles weighing him down. Speaking of which, he has three projectiles in his arrows, boomerang, and bombs, multiple disjointed attacks due to his sword, and (until Season 47) a long-range grab in his Hookshot (that he could also use as an alternate, tethered recovery).
He is also notable as the first character to debut with a unique gimmick, one that is only shared with the other Links: his Hylian Shield. This causes all projectiles to fail against him when they hit him from the front, although if they deal any knockback, he may still get pushed. This shield also doesn't break. However, it's not a reflector; anything that hits the shield falls away uselessly.
However, this seemingly broken character is held back by how slow he is. His moves are also pretty laggy; he's quite vulnerable to punishing if he should miss.
Changes[]
- Season 4: His original 8-bit "top down" design from LZ1 was overhauled into a design more fitting for the changing SSS.
- Season 15: His Hylian Shield actually became functional (previously, it was just aesthetic), and his up special actually boosted him into the air. Hookshot became a recover option.
- Season 36: Recovery was ultra-nerfed. Hookshot became Clawshot
- Season 39: Recovery reverted back to Season 15 specs.
- Season 47: Overhauled into his Breath of the Wild form, with his moveset changing to match; most notably, he lost his Hookshot, and now physically grabs opponents. Similar changes were made to Linkle, too.
Moveset[]
Entrance: Glides in on a Paraglider, then pulls out his sword.
- Season 36-47: Spun in on a gust of wind and then pulled out his weapons.
- Before Season 15: Descended in from a column of light.
- Before Season 4: Spun in from a hole in the ground.
(Coincidentally, Link holds a show record for the most character entrances!)
Move Name | Description |
---|---|
Neutral Special:
Bow and Arrows |
Link fires an arrow that does minor damage and knockback. If you hold longer, the arrow will travel farther. Had a chance of staying on the ground, but this was purely aesthetic. Since Season 47, Link uses his Traveler's Bow (previously, it was the Hero's Bow), and the arrows always stay on the ground; they can now be picked up and used by others. If Link picks the arrow up, he'll fire two arrows on his next use of the move.
In Seasons 1-3, the arrows functioned like a charged sword shot in LZ1, and as such, could be aimed upward if you held up. Killed at 300% initially, 200% since Season 47. |
Side Special:
Boomerang |
Link throws a boomerang at opponents. You probably guessed this. Use up and down to steer it. Does moderate damage and knockback.
From Seasons 36 to 47, Link threw a Gale Boomerang which, after hitting, sucked opponents in towards him. Kills at 200%. |
Up Special:
Spin Attack |
Link spins up with his sword extended. Anyone hit gets sliced. Does extra damage when used on the ground due to a "wind-up" animation; also, he can charge it on the ground. Since Season 47, Link doesn't always spin the sword in a straight line.
Link didn't use his sword before Season 4; he used his shield instead, which made him immune to projectiles but did no damage. Kills at 130%. |
Down Special:
Remote Bomb |
Link pulls out a bomb. Press to throw it. Detonates after 30 seconds, or you can do a down special again to detonate it on your own.
Link's original bomb attack detonated after just three seconds (five before Season 27), and detonated on impact. Link could hit himself with bombs as an alternate recovery. Remote Bomb kills at 150%. |
Final Smash:
Ancient Bow and Arrow |
Link pulls out precisely that and shoots the closest opponent in front of him with an arrow that explodes. Anyone caught in the explosion also takes damage.
For Triforce Slash, Link locked on to an opponent, trapped them in the Triforce, and slashed them silly, racking up as much as 87% on them and likely killing them. Ancient Bow and Arrow kills at 70%. |
Taunts[]
- Up Taunt: Swings his sword twice, then sheathes it.
- Side Taunt: Navi flies around him a few times. (Linkle giggles through this.)
- Down Taunt:
- Link: Rears back, with his sword behind his head, as if he were a Fujian white crane.
- Linkle: Tries to do the above but trips and tumbles; she then dusts herself off.
Victory[]
- Pose: Swings his sword three times, then looks off to his right.
- Theme: Team Zelda's victory theme.
- "No Contest"/Loss Theme: Team Zelda's loss theme.

- Default: Link's Breath of the Wild outfit.

- Fierce Deity Link

- BotW: Linkle in an outfit similar to Link's BotW one.
