Welcome to Dream Land

"Welcome to Dream Land"^[1] (also parsed "Welcome To Dream Land"^[2]) is the title screen theme for Kirby's Dream Land. While Green Greens is usually the song used to make callbacks and represent the series' first title, this theme sometimes fills that role instead. Like all music in Kirby's Dream Land, it was composed by Jun Ishikawa.

Kirby's Dream Land[edit]

"Welcome to Dream Land" first appeared here, serving as the music that plays on the game's title screen. It is a fairly short song, only being around 13 seconds long before it loops.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the remix titled "Butter Building", despite its name, features more songs other than the Butter Building theme, including "Welcome to Dream Land". It is one of the tracks available to be played as a default track in the Halberd stage. This arrangement was done by Jun Fukuda.

"Butter Building" returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, although in the latter it is renamed to "Butter Building (Brawl)".

Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

While absent in Kirby Super Star, a remix of the theme plays in the title screen of Spring Breeze in Kirby Super Star Ultra. This remix features an extended melody at the end of the track. It is named はるかぜとともに：タイトル (Spring Breeze: Title) in the Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe Original Sound Track. It was arranged by the original composer, Jun Ishikawa.^[3]

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

While not present in the game itself, a short remix of "Welcome to Dream Land" serves as the game's Wii Channel Menu jingle. It was arranged by Jun Ishikawa and can be found in the original Wii version's Sound Test as music 115 after clearing Extra Mode 100%.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, a remastered version of the jingle instead plays when finding Hidden Magolors in Merry Magoland, and is called "Hidden Magolor Found". It can be found in the Jukebox as track 131.

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]

The title screen of the game is a remix of "Welcome to Dream Land", featuring the extended melody first heard in Kirby Super Star Ultra. This variation was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.^[3]

In addition, when selecting Kirby's Dream Land in the Kirby's History mode, the original version of the theme plays.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

The Kirby's Dream Collection remix is reused for the HAL Room in Fine Fields - Stage 3, and the Kirby Super Star Ultra version is reused for the HAL Room in Royal Road - Stage 1. Both versions are also accessible in the Jukebox; the former as track 087 and the latter as track 086.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]

In Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, the song that plays in the Challenge Mode menu is a remix of the theme. This version features the original melody played twice in its usual tempo, each time with a different key, then rapidly switches tones with a slow original intermission, followed by a slower version of the theme played by a violin. Finally, the beginning of the theme is played in the original tempo one more time by the same violin, and the song loops. It can also be found as track 60 in the Music Room after defeating Whispy Woods in Green Valley for the first time.

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

A remix of "Welcome to Dream Land" plays in the title screen of the Kirby 3D Rumble Sub-Game and in the HAL Room in Access Ark - Stage 4. The original short melody is played two times, then is followed by an original extended melody, which is somewhat similar to the one heard in Kirby Super Star Ultra. It was arranged by Hirokazu Ando^[4] and can be found in the Jukebox as track 058.

The Kirby Super Star Ultra remix is reused for the HAL Room in Patched Plains - Stage 3 and as track 055 in the Jukebox.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

The original version of the song plays when viewing the "The First Rival" Celebration Picture, as well as inside the HAL Room in Jambandra Base and on the results screen for The Ultimate Choice's Soul Melter EX difficulty. It can be found in the Jukebox as track 142 in version 4.0.0.

Bandana Waddle Dee's Dream Friend jingle is a short remix of the theme, based on the Kirby's Return to Dream Land jingle. It is named "Bandana Waddle Dee's Here!" on Nintendo Music, and was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.^[5] It can be found in the Jukebox as track 129 in version 4.0.0.

Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]

The Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition arrangement, named Kirby's Dream Collection: Memorial Song 2 in-game, is unlocked for potential use in Races and Free Rolling after reaching Gourmet Rank 86.

Other appearances[edit]

The original version from Kirby's Dream Land appeared in two complication soundtracks: The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks and Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack.

There's an unused version of "Welcome to Dream Land" present in the Sound Test for Kirby's Adventure's files, accessible as track 16 (10 in-game, due to being listed in hexadecimal).

The Kirby's Dream Collection arrangement is reused as the music for the Kirby's 25th Anniversary Nintendo 3DS Theme.

"Welcome to Dream Land" is, fittingly, the first song present in the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert, as the first song in the track "Kirby's 25th Anniversary: Grand Opening". Here, it is played in a much slower tempo. This version was arranged by Shogo Sakai.

A short remix of this theme was featured in Kirby Pupupu Train, and it is included on the Kirby Pupupu Train Eki-melo Collection under the name カービィのおうち駅 (Kirby's House Station).

On the Kirby 30th Anniversary Site, the original version of the theme played when viewing Kirby number 09 ("Tabi no Wakamono").

An officially licensed Kirby alarm clock by RHYTHM features the 1-Up jingle to mark the start of an hour, which is joined by another tune on certain special dates; on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, December 24th and 25th, it features the beginning of "Welcome to Dream Land" as well.^[6]
