"Planet Heart"[2] is a theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot that plays during the ending cutscene "Restored to Life", found as track 098 in the Jukebox. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

Kirby looks over the revitalized planet.

Much like the average cutscene theme, "Planet Heart" is made up of several of its original game's recurring motifs. While many of them are based on "The Noble Haltmann" (like "Flight of Azure" or "Mother's Intuition"), they lack the oppressive character from the rest of the game, and previously dramaticized protagonistic themes such as "Boarding the Halberd" or "Kirby's Triumphant Return" appear in full glory.

The track begins with a gentle and high-pitched B-flat major piano accompaniment with quiet beeping noises. A nostalgic vibraphone version of "Flight of Azure" serves as this section's melody, tinged in minor harmonies and joined by a harmonic cello counterpoint and seconded by violins. As "Flight of Azure" seems to repeat, it grows into "Green Greens", at which point all backing instruments move over to a pure major, and a cymbal roll helps transition to the following section. Here, matching the cutscene's transition back to Popstar, supporting instruments become more percussive as the vibraphone jumps down two octaves to play the first portion of "Mother's Intuition". However, the strings quickly take over to end the second section similarly to the third section of "Venturing into the Mechanized World". The violins hold a high note and the tempo accelerates. Various instruments play shortened phrases of "Bright Spinning Planet". Coinciding with Susie's departure in the cutscene, a final minor portion consisting of an E-flat minor version of "The Noble Haltmann" plays. However, much like how "Mother's Intuition" suppressed it in the opening cutscene theme "First Contact", the second section of "Boarding the Halberd" supercedes the invader's motif while representing Meta Knight and the Halberd in the cutscene. This quickly transitions to a joyous "Kirby's Triumphant Return", which prepares the following bright A-flat major while also joined by short section of "Bright Spinning Planet". In conclusion, the final phrase of "Venturing into the Mechanized World" is repeated once more in a triumphant tutti, and one final iteration of "Bright Spinning Planet" cements the resolution.

Other appearances[edit]

The latter portion of this theme beginning from "Bright Spinning Planet"'s introduction is incorporated into the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert as part of the "Kirby Planet Robobot Medley", arranged by Shogo Sakai.
