"Air Ride: Nebula Belt" (capitalized as "Air Ride: NEBULA BELT" in the Sound Test) is the theme for the course with the same name from Kirby Air Ride.
Composition[edit]
"Air Ride: Nebula Belt" is a vivacious theme in 3/4. The intro consists of chords and arpeggios that functionally lead into the main part. It has a unique tonal structure: a D minor melody with a submediant major accompaniment and D major arpeggios as a response. The melody itself is simple and repetitive, simply revolving around and F and ending in a rising tonic fifth. The instrumentation here is primarily synthetic. It plays twice, then followed by a syncopated staccato descending chord progression which serves as an intermission. An extended version of the melody is then heard in the lower registers from acoustic instruments. A less eventful intermission with ominous minor harmonies connects this to the second G minor section. Here, the phrases of the melody can vaguely be heard in the low strings; however, the rhythm is quite different, featuring dotted rhythm and syncopation. The second intermission follows again, ending in a punctuated fanfare. The track loops from the melody.
