Donkey Kong Mario Kart Mario Strikers

The Giant Banana is an item which first appears in the "Kevin in Videoland" episode Captain N: The Game Master, and later its in-game debut in Donkey Kong Country.

Description[]

Giant Bananas are mostly associated with Donkey Kong. In the Mario Kart series, they function as larger variants of the Banana, and have an angry-looking face. In Mario Strikers Charged, Giant Bananas are depicted smiling like the regular Bananas. In Donkey Kong Country, Giant Bananas are depicted as enlarged bananas with the Nintendo logo wrapped around, although not in the Game Boy Advance version.

In Donkey Kong franchise[]

Donkey Kong Country[]

The Giant Banana is the special item of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, as well as Petey Piranha and King Boo, since they can use any Special Item. The Giant Banana functions just like a Banana, as it can be thrown frontward or backward on the course for racers to drive into. If racers drive into a Giant Banana, they spin out, longer than if they drive into a Banana, and three Bananas drop on the ground. A Giant Banana can be destroyed by either a Bob-omb, Chain Chomp, Yoshi Egg, or Bowser's Shell, although the latter is deflected after hitting. The Giant Banana can be picked up by if driven into while using the Heart.

Mario Kart Arcade GP[]

The Giant Banana is Donkey Kong's special item. It functions similarly as in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2[]

The Giant Banana has the same role of being Donkey Kong's special item.

Mario Kart Arcade GP DX[]

Giant Bananas are no longer special items, as any character can now use them, but Giant Bananas can only be dropped from behind. Besides these differences, Giant Bananas are the same as before.

Mario Kart Tour[]

The Giant Banana is the special item of Morton, Donkey Kong, Yellow Toad (Pit Crew), Mario (Sunshine), Rosalina (Chef), White Tanooki Mario, Toad (Tourist), Pink Shy Guy (Ninja), Wiggler, and the Donkey Kong, Yellow, Morton and Wiggler Mii Racing Suits. It functions the same as before. Bowser can use them only in the Take them out quick! bonus challenges where he is the opponent. Banana Barrels+ can sometimes launch Giant Bananas alongside regular Bananas.

There is also the Giant Banana+, which increases the chances of getting a Giant Banana. The item drops five Bananas when touched instead of three.

In Mario Strikers Charged[]

The Giant Banana is an item which can be dropped on the field. They function like regular bananas, causing characters to slip and drop the ball if run onto, but their larger size makes it possible for more than one character to be hit. The Giant Banana does not leave behind three Banana Peels if touched, unlike in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

In "Kevin in Videoland", Kevin Keene is briefly trapped in a giant banana peel upon being hit by a banana bullet from the Eggplant Wizard.

In "The Most Dangerous Game Master," Donkey Kong finds a giant banana in a subterranean cavern in the fictional show "Donkey Kong Jones and the Last Banana" (a parody of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark). When Donkey Kong steps on a trap button accidentally, the Giant Banana starts rolling after him. Donkey Kong jumps upon reaching a cliff and lands in an enormous ice cream sundae, on which the giant banana lands, creating a banana split.
