The Wheel Virus is an item in the Mario Kart series arcade installments. It first appears in Mario Kart Arcade GP and returns in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 and Mario Kart Arcade GP DX.
Description[]
The Wheel Virus depicts a Blue Virus holding a purple steering wheel. It is a lock-on item that shoots straight forward at its target. If the Wheel Virus successfully hits the targeted racer, it floats above their head and periodically turns their steering wheel back and forth to interfere with their driving. Unlike human-controlled racers, CPU racers lose speed upon being hit by a Wheel Virus. A racer inflicted with the Wheel Virus can get rid of it by passing it to another racer by bumping into them. After a set period of time, the Wheel Virus disappears.
