"Zen and the Art of Milo" is the 17th episode of the fifth season of Pepper Ann. It aired on November 15, 2000.
Synopsis[]
Milo is recruited to a "half Zen academy", but has trouble fitting in there. Pepper Ann does not make things easy when Milo decides to return to Hazelnut Middle School.
Plot[]
At the Semi-Zen Academy, a Master and Groundskeeper decide to go into town and buy a leaf blower for their garden. In Hazelnut, Milo coaxes Pepper Ann to have private time with Craig while he waits outside with her baton, only to upset a cotton candy vendor, an organ grinder and a monkey. The Master and Groundskeeper spot Milo in the middle of it all, but in a very zen like state. They approach him and impressed with his demeanor ask him to join their academy. Milo tells Pepper Ann and Nicky that he accepted already, upsetting the former.
Milo arrives at the Semi-Zen Academy only to learn that they strictly do meditation study, which he quickly grows bored with. At Hazelnut Middle School, Pepper Ann is convinced that Milo will return, despite his locker being given to Dieter. After their respective days, Milo meets with Pepper Ann and Nicky and admits that he is missing Hazelnut already. Upset by this, Pepper Ann claims that she does not miss him at all, causing Milo to lash back at Pepper Ann and making Nicky furious as she leaves the two.
Pepper Ann and Milo are respectively perturbed with each other's decision that it begins to affect their school work. The Master gives Milo some words of encouragement stating that even if it looks like he quit the academy, he knows that is not what happened. Mr. Finky relates to Pepper Ann how he broke up with his rap troupe, not because he was giving up, but because they knew he wanted to teach. At Pepper Ann's house, she and Milo meet up and resume their friendship while Nicky returns as well, having learned Farsi on the side.
