"Doppelganger Didi" is the 22nd episode of the second season of Pepper Ann. It aired on January 9, 1999.
Synopsis[]
Pepper Ann freaks out when she sees Didi O'Shaunassy, a Catholic schoolgirl who looks exactly like her.
Plot[]
Pepper Ann performs in a musical where her performance is positively received by everyone, including Dieter who gave her a glowing review. As they celebrate at the Greezy 'n' Cheezy, Pepper Ann is approached by an attractive boy, later revealed to be named Joaquim Sanchez, who missed the performance, but heard about it. He asks her out, but when he calls her "Didi", Pepper Ann is confused. Joaquim realizes he made a mistake and points out how she looks just like a girl named Didi O'Shaunassy, news that Nicky seems to blissfully ignore at first. Pepper Ann learns that everyone around her knows of her as she has similar interests to her.
Pepper Ann confronts Nicky and Milo who both admit that they have known Didi for quite sometime and that they never told Pepper Ann because they knew she would react negatively to it. Pepper Ann feels that she is not unique because of Didi and shows up to school dressed as a goth, after finding out that no one at the school is one, however she gets a negative reaction from another student who had taken Pepper Ann's words of originality to heart. Pepper Ann decides to do something about it once and for all.
Pepper Ann leaves a note to Didi asking that they meet up for a duel of sorts. Milo and Nicky think she is being ridiculous, but she goes to the meet up anyway. Upon arriving, Pepper Ann converses with her reflection and spots Didi arrive where she does the same. When Pepper Ann overhears her say how she wants to be a vet, buy a horse and cries while playing golf, Pepper Ann realizes that they are different and decides to leave well enough alone. Didi is later picked up by her family who are exact copies of Pepper Ann's family.
