Biography[]

Not much is known about Dark Shepherd except that he’s member of the Dark Covenant alongside Artery, Kryptis, Witch Doctor and Stansfield. He later joins the battle against Rorke and his mercs when Templar & Dame betray him. He also witnesses Dame’s execution of Rorke.

Later on, in Blackout, when Templar kills Dame after she tells him that she will not let his daughter go, Dark Shepherd is goaded into fighting Templar along with the rest of the Covenant members.

Dark Shepherd informs Templar that the Covenant is for life and that there’s no way out, to which the French merc replies that he will then have to kill them all. Dark Shepherd attempts to strike at Templar with his scythes, but they are bisected by Templar’s knives.

After Artery taunts Templar about his daughter Sophia, he informs them that he will get her back. Dark Shepherd questions him how he will do it since he has no intel, no allies & no resources. But Templar says he will do it by whatever means necessary.

After a grueling battle, Dark Shepherd is shown to be defeated by Templar along with Artery, as he is seen being carried away by Witch Doctor, who vows that their fight isn’t over.

Dark Shepherd is later seen at sea, on board a hovercraft. Although his mercenary reassures him that there's no one following him, he has his doubts. When he detects Ghost and Templar swimming up, he then throws the merc overboard out of annoyance. Ghost then confronts Dark Shepherd, taunting him about how the Dark Covenant is supposed to be the most dangerous group of people in the world. He shrugs off his taunt, saying that the mercs are not part of the Dark Covenant, but just cannon fodder, and points a gun at Ghost. He then demands Templar's location, who makes his presence known by putting a knife to Dark Shepherd's throat. Fearing for his life, Dark Shepherd drops his gun and assures Templar he will talk.

Dark Shepherd isn't seen again until some time later, in New Vision City, expecting Cipher's arrival. He informs Cipher that he had to convince a lot of people to get him back in there, especially after what he did to his 'recovery team' in Morocco, which is actually Nikto's hit squad. Cipher doesn't seem bothered however, and expresses admiration for Dark Shepherd's new outfit. However, he isn't impressed and reminds Cipher that many still consider him a security risk, and that his only hope is that Dark Shepherd isn't one of the many. Cipher doesn't appreciate his tone, and informs him that he has brought 'gifts' as a sign of appreciation.

Before Cipher can reveal his 'gift', Dark Shepherd says that he knows Cipher is angry and that he feels like Atlas Corporation had betrayed him, and that if he were him, he would hurt them to show them they had erred, painfully. But he also warns Cipher that if he betrays him, he will kill everyone Cipher cares about, before killing him. Cipher assures Dark Shepherd that he has been nothing but loyal since day one, and reveals his 'gift': Foxtrot, who is tied up in the back of his truck.

While escorting Foxtrot through the medical center, she questions Cipher of what he's been doing lately, revealing he was a 'corporate spy' for Atlas Corporation, running a deep cover op on the UAC. Suddenly, Cipher grabs hold of a gun from one of their guards and shoots everyone including Dark Shepherd, save Foxtrot. After Cipher unties Foxtrot Dark Shepherd pulls out his scythes to do battle with them, telling him to "remember his promise".

He engages in a fierce duel with the siblings, managing to destroy one of Foxtrot's guns and wounding Cipher on his forehead, but is ultimately defeated when Foxtrot guns him down with another gun.

Despite his defeat, Dark Shepherd appears again later, meeting with the Director. He chides him for being late, and the Director says that Dark Shepherd knows nothing of his responsibilities. After their bickering, they consult with a group of officials who ask about Stitch and their operations in Central Asia. Dark Shepherd informs that without Atlas' support, local militaries have difficulty containing him. As they planned, the world's dependence on Atlas' support will bite them back into the fold, and their agent reports that Sophia Couteau is on the move.

Some time later, following the re-emergence of Edouard Couteau, Dark Shepherd pays a visit to Flamewing in the UK. He informs her that Edouard has resurfaced and that it's time for the Flamewing to fly again. Flamewing, unbothered, continues to talk, expressing surprise at Dark Shepherd's presence as she had heard he was slain during the attack on New Vision City. Dark Shepherd reveals that 'his predecessor' fell in the line of duty bringing Cipher to the appointed location, and that this Dark Shepherd was activated soon afterwards.

Still unconvinced, Flamewing continues to deride the Dark Shepherd, and asks what will happen if she refuses. Dark Shepherd, taken aback, tells her that the Couteau line endangers them all. Flamewing retorts, saying she doesn't see any Couteaus there and wonders what will happen if she stays there to drink her Chablis and let the other families sort it out, whether they'd send another Dark Shepherd. He reminds her that she had taken an oath to protect the interests of the Tontine, and she retorts again stating the St. Georges are one of the Tontine's founding families, so he shouldn't lecture her on duty. Nonetheless, she agrees to find the Couteau threat, but only to protect her family.

Some time later, Dark Shepherd is seen in Tokyo, ambushing Manta Ray and Urban Tracker when they infiltrated an abandoned apartment. The pair attempt to fight him off, with Manta Ray disorienting him with a concussion grenade, but it is not enough to deter him, as he grabs Urban Tracker by her foot when she attempts to flee. He begins choking Urban Tracker, while telling her that her story ends there, and derides her for thinking her end would be heroic. However, Urban Tracker stabs him in the torso, rattling him long enough for her to make her escape.
