Shadow's vocals are unmatched! Silence rivals with circling notes, then launch them down the track!

— Description, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle

The Chaos Chord is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Projectile Item used primarily to attack rivals.

Description[]

The Chaos Chord's icon takes the form of "double eighth note" leaves red aura and two small eighth notes behind in its wake. In gameplay, the user will release the notes and run around the user, then launch forward down the track.

Overview[]

In gameplay, the Chaos Chord can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Idol Shadow. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Chaos Chord if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Chaos Chord by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. While active, the Chaos Chord will release a series of four large note that surround the user and deal damage to any rival that makes contact or gets too close to the user and inflict the "Silence" debuf. The duration of the Chaos Chord is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Chaos Chord is in effect. In addition, if the Chaos Chord limit duration reached, the notes will travel down three separate lanes in front of the user side-by-side. Rival character who collide the Chaos Chord will lose Rings and slow down momentarily, and item slots on the bottom of the HUD locked for a short time, which is preventing the player from using the power-ups stored in them. To avoid the Chaos Chord, the playable character must step out its lane or jump over it.

Functionally, the Chaos Chord is very similar to the Hard Rock.

The Chaos Chord can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. For each upgrade, the Chaos Chord will increase the damage dealt.
