Spynum is an enemy that debuted in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. It yields the Archer ability when swallowed, and so far is the only enemy who yields this ability. Spynum is a blue vaguely humanoid figure who wears a red feather cap and purple cloak. It wields a bow, which it can use with decent accuracy to fire at intruders, from across the screen as well as from the background or foreground. It has low HP, so if Kirby manages to get up close, Spynum does not have much in the means of defense, since its firing speed is rather slow.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

Spynum made its debut appearance as an enemy in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Spynum is first encountered in the Lollipop Land level, and has occasional appearances in every subsequent level. In Royal Road, there also exists an insectoid variant of Spynum, Sectra Shooter, who serves as a soldier in Queen Sectonia's army.

Locations[edit]

Sectra Shooter, from Royal Road.

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Spynum can be found in the following levels and stages:

Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Buffet, Spynum is depicted on a Character Treat, using its artwork from Kirby: Triple Deluxe. This appearance was the first to confirm Spynum's name in a game, as it was previously known primarily through a Miiverse post.[1]

In the Kirby novel series[edit]

In the Kirby novel series, Spynum makes a minor appearance in Kirby's Labyrinth Rescue!. Waddle Dee brings it from Mirra's mirror during the fight against Magolor. At first Spynum thinks it is here to join the combat, but it is quickly inhaled by Kirby, who gains the Archer copy ability. After seeing that the copy ability doesn't help, Kirby discards it.
