~ Kiros giving Taka his scar for defending Mufasa, ironically foreshadowing Mufasa's death at the paws of Taka/Scar.
Kiros is the overarching antagonist of Disney's 2019 remake film The Lion King and the main antagonist of its 2024 prequel/sequel Mufasa: The Lion King.
He is a rogue white lion and the leader of a dangerous lion pride of his own who tries to take over the Pride Lands from the king, Obasi during the youth of Obasi's son Taka and Taka's adoptive brother Mufasa. His threat leads the princes to embark on an adventure to find Milele, a journey which strains the relationship between the two, making Kiros responsible for Taka's descent into darkness, calling himself "Scar", and becoming the arch-nemesis of Mufasa, who later becomes the rightful king of the Pride Lands.
~ Kiros highlighting his belief of strength and superiority over other animals.
Kiros is a formidable and ruthless leader with little to no tolerance of failure, as shown when he orders his pride to kill one of his followers for failing him. He is quite sadistic and enjoyed frightening his victims before killing them, as shown with his toying of Obasi and his pride before murdering them all. Devoted and passionate to his belief of showing strength and superiority over all animals, he was bent on killing Mufasa for killing his son (even though it was done on self-defense) and was willing to cross miles of territory to track Mufasa down.
Appearance[]
Kiros is a large, muscular lion with white fur, a shaggy white mane, white elbow tufts and blue eyes. He and his pride had pale fur because of a genetic mutation.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Kiros' early life beyond the fact that he was the king of a rogue pride of white lions called the Outsiders who are outcasted from the Valley of Kings for their white fur.
While Eshe was teaching her adoptive son Mufasa how to hunt, they are ambushed by two white lions. Mufasa kills one, Kiros' son Shaju, which the other Azibo reveals to Kiros. Enraged, Kiros has his lionesses kill Azibo for failing to protect his son and claims vengeance against Mufasa. By dawn, Kiros and his pride reach the clan, only to discover that Mufasa and his adoptive brother Taka have already evacuated towards Milele. The Outsiders kill Obasi, Eshe, and their clan.
Kiros has his sisters Akua and Amara track down the two princes through their scents. They confront them at a cliff, only for the two to jump down into the river below. An Outsider lioness jumps in after them, but is quickly snatched by a crocodile. At the other side of the river, the two meet a lioness named Sarabi who also lost her clan to the Outsiders. Accompanied by Sarabi, her scout Zazu the hornbill, and Rafiki the wise mandrill, they all venture together to find Milele.
The Outsiders once again confront the group on the other side of a ravine, jumping across pillars in-between the ravine to reach them. Striking a nearby beehive, they cause a herd of migrating elephants to stampede, crushing the Outsiders and causing them to retreat back on the pillars before they collapse.
With just a mountain range in their way, the group cover their footprints in the snow by having Zazu cover them in snow. Along the way, Sarabi confesses to Mufasa and they fall in love. Taka witnesses this and feels betrayed as Mufasa previously agreed to help him win Sarabi's heart. Envious, Taka reveals himself to Kiros and offers a proposal to aid him in claiming revenge on Mufasa and conquering Milele.
The group eventually reach the other side and discover Milele, only for the Outsiders to ambush them with Taka's help. Mufasa manages to rally the scared animals into fighting back against the Outsiders, causing a battle between them. Kiros attacks Mufasa, sending them falling into a cave. Kiros overwhelms Mufasa and Taka intervenes, regretting his betrayal, taking a claw over his eye. The trampling animals trigger an earthquake, causing the ground to give way and the two to fall into a tunnel filled with water. Kiros drags Mufasa underwater in an attempt to drown him, only for Mufasa to push Kiros into the path of a large falling rock, crushing the evil white lion to death and sending his corpse down into the water while Mufasa gets rescued by Taka. With Kiros and his pride dead, Obasi and Sarabi's clans are avenged.
Despite his death, Kiros' actions have caused the estrangement between Mufasa and Taka, as even though Mufasa forgives Taka for his betrayal, he refuses to refer to him by his birth name anymore, and Taka renames himself as Scar before later growing up to be completely jealous towards Mufasa and proceeding to murder him in the original film.

Trivia[]
Kiros' name is of African origin and means "lord".
Kiros is the third The Lion King villain created to flesh out Scar's backstory and his fall into villainy. The first two were the Strange Lion and the Strange Cobra from The Lion Guard, who ambushed and scarred Scar in his youth, leading him to turn evil after Mufasa didn't appreciate his face-off with them. Although, that version of Scar was already evil as he already planned to overthrow Mufasa.
Interestingly, Mads Mikkelsen previously starred as Kaecilius in Doctor Strange alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo. Ejiofor would later be cast as Scar in The Lion King remake and Mikkelsen would later be cast as Kiros in the remake's sequel/prequel.
Ironically, Mads' brother Lars voiced Kiros in a different dub of the film.
Kiros serves as an evil counterpart and dark reflection of both Mufasa and Scar, representing what they would've become if they hadn't met each other.
Kiros' death resembles Zira's from The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.
Given his goal is basically to kill all lions outside his pride (unless they surrender like Taka) he is arguably the most vile of The Lion King villains since he essentially is committing genocide against his own species.
