“
Constantine: Not so fast. Walter: Where's Kermit? Fozzie: Wh-wh-what do you want? Constantine: You have wocka-ed your last wocka, bear.
„
~ Constantine confronting Walter and Fozzie, and before Animal tackles him, his second most famous quote.
Constantine, also known as The World's Most Dangerous Frog, is the main antagonist of the 2014 film Muppets Most Wanted, the sequel to the 2011 film The Muppets.
He is the evil doppelgänger of iconic Muppet Kermit the Frog who is claimed to be the #1 criminal of the world. He and his subordinate/pawn, Dominic Badguy, formulated an evil plot to steal the Crown Jewels of England. He resembles Kermit, aside from the fact that a black mole is depicted on his right cheek. He is also the arch-nemesis of Kermit, as well as Walter, Fozzie Bear, and Animal.
He was performed and voiced by Matt Vogel in his first villainous role.
According to Gulag prison guard Nadya (in the extended version of the film), Constantine's mother abandoned him as a tadpole and he was taken in by the owner of the largest bomb factory in Germany, which he subsequently blew up.
Muppets Most Wanted[]
At the beginning of the film, Constantine was in Siberian Gulag 38B. However, he escapes the prison and blows it up, then makes contact with his partner, Dominic Badguy.
Later while Kermit the Frog is for a stroll in Berlin, Constantine sneaks up on him and slaps a duplicate mole on his right cheek. The police thought that Kermit was Constantine and then brings him to the Gulag. Constantine then impersonates Kermit and meets up with Dominic Badguy to proceed with his plans to steal the crown jewels of England. Constantine covers his mole on his right cheek to make himself look like Kermit.
Constantine then dismisses the show letting it run into chaos while pretending to love Miss Piggy to cover his tracks, even proposing to her so he had an excuse to get into the Tower of London.
Walter and Fozzie find out the truth and are confronted by Constantine. However, they are saved by Animal (who suspected that he was an impostor from the start), and the three escape to find the real Kermit.
After his plan works, Constantine and Miss Piggy are about to get married, with Constantine planning to blow up Miss Piggy after the ceremony. However, the real Kermit manages to break in and, after a few switches, stops the wedding. After a few mishaps, Miss Piggy finally deduces the real Kermit by asking both frogs if she would marry them, knowing that the real Kermit would be reluctant enough to give a proper answer.
With the ruse up, Constantine finally reveals his true identity and starts his next bomb to blow the Muppets to kingdom come. The bomb happens to be on Miss Piggy's ring, which starts to terrify everyone. Fortunately, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's bomb magnet suit manages to pull the bomb with help from Beaker (who is wearing the suit to prevent himself from being killed) and get it to safety.
Despite his failure to blow up the Muppets, Constantine attempts to make a clean escape by taking Miss Piggy hostage. Sick of Constantine's mistreatment, however, Dominic tries to double-cross Constantine, revealing that he is in fact The Lemur, the world's second-greatest thief, and planning to make a clean getaway in a helicopter with the stolen jewels to become the new Number One Criminal. Constantine, having anticipated that he would be betrayed, simply ejects Dominic from the helicopter and boards it, tying up Miss Piggy in the process. Kermit, however, manages to grab hold of the helicopter and tries to save Piggy, while the other Muppets mange to stop Constantine from escaping by forming a long chain from themselves and holding onto the helicopter. As Kermit finally gets up to the cockpit, Constantine holds him at gunpoint, proudly declaring himself the world's most dangerous frog. However, Piggy breaks free and angrily declares that meant he was still a frog, grabbing his feet and smashing him against the cockpit several times. Taking off the same fake mole Constantine had given him in their first encounter, Kermit furiously slaps it onto Constantine's face, knocking him out cold.
In the end, Constantine and Dominic are arrested for their crimes, and are placed back to the Gulag presumably for the rest of their lives. Despite this, they both appear to reform and willingly take part in the Muppets' show in the gulag at the end of the film. During the end credits of the movie, a reformed Constantine sings a triumphant reprise of his song "I'll Get You What You Want (Cockatoo In Malibu)".
Personality[]
Constantine is very evil, over-the-top, cocky, ruthless, malicious, cunning, deceptive and underhanded. Despite being somewhat cartoonish and having his fair share of comedic moments throughout the movie, he still strives on being very intimidating and astute regardless of being a puppet.
Despite being intelligent, he can be hypocritical when he doesn't like being touched when he can touch people whenever he feels like it, when he touched Miss Piggy is an example of this.
He has shown to have a certain level of competence as a villain, these include him escaping jail with weaponry, stealth & physical combat; his reputation for blowing up the prison he escaped from is what made the Muppets fear him as "the world's most dangerous frog". He managed to successfully frame Kermit into being Constantine by slapping a mole onto Kermit when he got to meet up with Kermit in-person, this sent Kermit to the prison Constantine escaped from, the Siberian Gulag, and he was smart enough to hide his real identity to Kermit's friends until Walter, Fozzie and Animal later founded out what he used to trick Kermit's friends.
One of his most notable shortcomings includes his arrogance. His ego and subtle lies has caused him to make minor mistakes when he disguises himself as Kermit and attempting to perfectly imitate Kermit's characteristics after watching Kermit's past performances on a VHS tape. Especially when he gets defeated by Kermit and Piggy after he was gloating to Kermit while holding onto a gun and then they both use violence to overpower him, Piggy brutally swung him around and Kermit slapped him with the mole Constantine used to frame Kermit.

Trivia[]
Constantine is the second main antagonist of any Muppet film in The Muppet Show universe to be a Muppet, the first being Miss Piggy's portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West, and the first main antagonist of a theatrical one.
The scene where Constantine confronts Kermit for the first time has become an Internet meme in late 2016, known as "Evil Kermit," where he is shown giving Kermit unethical advice.
Constantine's performer Matt Vogel would later become the current performer of Kermit since 2017, after he replaced Steve Whitmire, who was the performer of the character from 1990 to 2016.
