“ | Well, if you insist, my name is Devo the Cursed, and since you're probably wondering, my Stand is the card of The Devil. It represents insanity of the cursed and a precipice of malevolent fall to ruin. | „ |
~ Devo |

In the anime's dub, he was voiced by Edward Bosco (who also voiced Franklin Bordeau in Hunter x Hunter, Soundwave in Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, Ed in Street Fighter, the Icon of Sin and the Marauders in Doom Eternal, Gargos and Kan-Ra in Killer Instinct, Striker in Helluva Boss and Alastor in the Hazbin Hotel pilot), while Ebony Devil was voiced by Spike Spencer (who also voiced Arakune in BlazBlue, Rolo Lamperouge in Code Geass, Kled in League of Legends, Di Roy Rinker in Bleach and Snake in Black Butler).
Biography[]
Past[]
Even before allying himself with DIO, Devo was known throughout the world as a dangerous assassin, hired by shady figures to get rid of people they want gone. Devo lets everyone he attacks make the first move, and no-one has managed to survive one of his attacks yet. Some even say his way of death is actually the cause of a curse he casts.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders[]
Devo encounters the Stardust Crusaders in a hotel in Singapore. He is found hiding inside the mini-fridge in Jean Pierre Polnareff's room. Because Devo removed the alcohol and put it on top of the fridge without hiding it, Polnareff easily noticed the assassins' presence. Devo revealed himself and summoned his stand, Ebony Devil. Polnareff attacked immediately, cutting Devo's face and stabbing out his eye. Devo stumbled back, giving a menacing monologue about having a grudge strong enough to kill Polnareff, before dropping backward off the balcony.
Polnareff called Avdol and they agreed to all meet up and form a counterattack plan. Before Polnareff could go to meet the others, he realized that his room key was missing and he would need to find it so he could get back into his room afterward. He spotted the key under his bed and went to get it. As he crawled under the bed, the strange doll he'd seen in the room came to life. It squirted shampoo into Polnareff's eyes to blind him before wrapping his arms and legs in power cords and tying him up. It then sawed through the legs of the bed, dropping it onto him.
At this moment, a hotel employee arrived with a first aid kit. Polnareff tried to warn him away but the man wouldn't listen, and was ambushed and killed by the doll, which cut off his face with a straight razor.
Now alone in the room, the doll proceeded to begin terrorizing Polnareff, stabbing randomly through the bed with a spear, intentionally missing to prolong Polnareff's misery. This allowed Polnareff to get the upper hand with Silver Chariot, trapping the doll in a sheet and breaking its spear. However, the doll showed that it could still hurt a stand with anything it touched as it slashed Chariot with the straight razor.
No longer wanting to play around, the doll scattered the alcohol from the mini-fridge all over the bed He then ignited a malfunctioning hairdryer and threatened to drop it onto the bed, either to electrocute or burn Polnareff. However, Polnareff revealed he still had the upper hand. Silver Chariot had broken the mirror and scattered its pieces so he could still see the doll.
Polnareff offered to show Devo mercy if he revealed the identity of the man with two right hands, but Devo refuses to tell him anything. Since Devo had threatened through the doll to "bite off your balls", Polnareff declares he's going to "slice up everything except your balls". Silver Chariot skewers Ebony Devil with dozens of stabs and slices. Due to the bond between stand and user, this results in Devo being killed as well.
Powers and Abilities[]
“ | The pain! Just you w.... How dare you! How dare you do that to me! Now I can hold one hell of a grudge against you! Such torture! Such agony must be avenged, and you're the pathetic one, Polnareff! I let you find me and attack me on purpose! You're a dead man now! | „ |
~ Devo cursing Polnareff for attacking him. |
Ebony Devil's power activates when Devo is injured by someone else. The power of Devo's grudge allows Ebony Devil to transfer itself into a physical object, usually a doll. This doll is visible even to people who can't see stands, as the hotel employee Ebony Devil killed was able to see its shadow before being attacked.
Though the doll has a spear, this spear is not actually special. In fact, any weapon the doll holds becomes a part of the stand and can be used to damage other stands, such as a straight razor or broken glass. The doll becomes faster and stronger depending on how much Devo hates his adversary. Devo can also control the doll from far away, as he attacks Polnareff in the latter's room while Devo was in a bathroom several floors down.
Because the doll becomes part of Devo's stand, any damage done to it is also dealt to Devo, due to the connection between stand and user.
