Villain Overview

Striker: Blitzø, c'mon. You know the two of us are superior than most of our kind. And you were so above sucking on a disgusting rich pompous Goetia only to sneak top side for scraps and work for bitter Sinners who could care less who you are, when you could be slaying Overlords. Why struggle to run a business that is rigged against you, when you can partner up with me and kill the unkillable; starting with the one that treats you like a plaything?
Blitzo: Oh, that's kinda hot!
Striker: We can be the most dangerous beings in Hell, Blitzø.
~ Striker attempting to convince Blitzø to join him.
You've been a pain in my ass long enough, Blitzø. NOW I'M GONNA BREAK YOU LIKE A F**KIN HORSE!
~ Striker to Blitzø in Oops.

Striker is the secondary antagonist of the adult animated black comedy web series Helluva Boss.

The most skilled and dangerous assassin in the Wrath Ring, Striker is a supremacist imp who despises Hell's royalty and those who ally with them. Under the orders of Stella, Striker has tried to assassinate her husband Stolas numerous times, while also doing side jobs for other demons like Crimson. He is the archenemy of Blitzø and the arch-rival of Moxxie. He also can be seen as the archenemy of I.M.P as a whole.

In Season 1, he was voiced by Norman Reedus, qho portrayed Scud in Blade II. In Season 2, he is voiced by Edward Bosco, who also voiced Alastor in the Hazbin Hotel pilot.

Appearance[]

Striker is a tall imp with light salmon skin (while the other imps have red skin) with golden eyes with green rings, a serpentine-like face, and sharp teeth, one of which is golden. He has a small black mustache and ivory white hair with a pair of black and white-striped horns. He has horns that, compared to other imps, have a more jagged stripe pattern. He also has a tail with four black stripes at the top, with eight spines on top of them and a giant one at the end of his tail.

Generally, Striker resembles a stereotypical southern cowboy, wearing a large grey sun hat, cowboy boots, a red bandana around his neck, a black turtleneck, a dark grey vest, and a light gray jacket with dark gray cuffs and black tassels below. He wears black fingerless gloves and ivory white pants that are ripped by the thighs. He was commonly seen holding a straw of wheat in his mouth in his debut appearance to further the cowboy look, but he drops it in later episodes. After his confrontation with Blitzø and Fizzarolli in OOPS, Striker gains a light coloured patch on his left eye after being burnt by Hellfire.

Personality[]

Striker's evil grin.
I have a body count in the hundreds. I ain't afraid to go after anyone. Women, kids, and cute little faced puppy-lookin' things. Don't matter.
~ Striker bragging about how successful and ruthless he is as an assassin.

Striker is an arrogant supremacist who, on top of despising royalty and believing anyone who associates with blue blood deserves death, seems himself as superior to even his fellow imps. As a showcase of his narcissism, his lair features several attractions praising him, including a large statue of himself with a comically exaggerated penis. As a result of his egotism and bigotry, Striker mocks those who are weaker than him, especially Moxxie. Despite this, he respects Blitzo and implies he sees him as an equal, claiming they both are better than most imps and trying to convince him to team up. He is also charismatic, easily making others like him and having a speech so good Blitzo almost joined him.

As an assassin, he prefers close-range combat as most of his fights seen to date were hand-to-hand. However, he is willing to use ranged weapons when needed, such as killing Stolas at sniper distance. He also seems to be good at singing. He's shown to be fearless like when he kept a cool-head when he was about to kill Stolas and Blitzo caught him in the act, although his sudden appearance shook him a bit. Another example is when he was cornered by Blitzo and Moxxie and only looked distressed by the fact that the cards were not in his favor. Despite failing to kill Stolas, he showed no anger at his failure and even promised to get him another time.

After capturing Stolas, Striker shows great joy at torturing him, and while most of it doesn't affect him, Striker mentioning Octavia's name was enough to swear that he would kill him if he did anything to her. It's shown repeatedly Striker despises high-classed demons like Stolas, telling him that he didn't rise from a wealthy background like him and had a hard life to come to where he is now. He also blames people like Stolas for taking everything he ever cared about, heavily suggesting that his grudge against him and other elite demons is personal and not just because of his supremacism. Despite this, he is willing to work for high class demons like Stella in exchange for payment while still being enraged if anyone points out his hypocrisy. He also willingly participates in the corrupt trial against Blitzø by giving false testimony in order to get him executed, displaying that he prioritises his grudge against the imp over his so-called philosophy since he likely entered on Andrealphus's request.

He speaks to Stella in a respectful manner, and while he was disappointed when told to keep Stolas alive, he followed her orders when told that he would be paid extra for bringing him back. Even so, while told to keep Stolas alive, he was willing to further torture and mutilate him, intending to cut his eyes out and take them as a trophy. Striker is shown to be rather power-hungry and seemingly wants to go up the ranks in Hell's hierarchy, telling Blitzo the two could be the most dangerous people in Hell that would slay even Overlords.

On a side note, Striker doesn't seem fond of innuendos. While in the process of choking Moxxie, he was genuinely put off when the imp acted as though the process was turning him on, enough so that he backed off, dropped his guard, and allowed the I.M.P. assassin to regain the upper hand. His frustration with innuendos becomes especially evident when trying to kill Fizzaroli in front of Blitzo, when the former mentioned he was getting "hard" from Striker holding him at gunpoint, which causes Striker to angrily ask "why is it always a sex thing?!" It's unclear if it is due to Striker being unnerved by the prospect of sexual torture or if he's just annoyed at how ineffective his victim's arousal makes his attempts to intimidate them look.

Abilities and Powers[]

Striker is shown to approach fighting with extreme gusto when his opponent is evenly matched with him, like Blitzo, but when they aren't, he positively revels in taking them down slowly, Striker also is very good at singing and playing guitar as seen in his song "Sweet victory." He also is intelligent enough to almost trick Blitzo into joining him.

Biography[]

Background[]

Little is known about Striker's past, but his words indicate an event related to the Goetias caused Striker to lose everything he cared about. Sometime after this, he became an assassin.

Sometime presumably during or after the events of "Loo Loo Land", Stella hired him to kill Stolas. He was then hired as a new farmhand by Millie's parents, Lin and Joe.

Helluva Boss[]

Striker first appeared when Joe (Millie's father) calls him.

Striker introduces himself to Millie, asking if freelance work in Imp City had dried up, which she says isn't true, and they got tickets for the festival, jokingly stating it's because the prince is her boss' lover. Blitzo firmly tells her to change the subject, as he isn't above hitting her in front of her parents. Striker then asks him about I.M.P after having heard about an Imp starting his own business; subsequently, he compliments Blitzo for his great achievement, stating that not many Imps are able to do so. Striker asks him about how exactly he's conning Stolas into letting them access the Living World, which flusters Blitzo, who poorly explains the arrangement he has with Stolas.

As Moxxie lands in the mud of the corral hurting his arm, as Striker walks past him with the hog on his shoulder, telling him he never stood a chance, angering him. Striker asks Blitzo if he wants to help skin the hog, which he agrees to.

Striker then goes to the Harvest Moon festival and wins the games along with Blitzo, Striker then sings a song that says how he loves victory and how he is better than anyone to presumably insult Moxxie.

To Moxxie's disappointment, Blitzo reveals he asked Striker to take a job with I.M.P, which he accepted. Millie suggests Moxxie to go back to the house and clean himself, as Striker taunts him in his song, making him leave crying and humiliated.

Back at the ranch, as Moxxie climbs the stairs, he notices a glow coming out of Striker's room. Investigating, he finds an open gun case with a Carmine-crafted blessing tip rifle, a sniper rifle capable of killing Demon royalty. Striker confronts him, and attempts to kill him for his discovery, when Millie intervenes after hearing a lamp breaking and stabs him in the back, before being overpowered by Striker. He proceeds to throw the pair in the Ranch's cellar, where Millie lands in a bear trap, reasoning that they aren't worth the cleanup and alive they might give him leverage over Blitzo.

In a nearby building, Striker lines up a shot on Stolas with his sniper rifle, when Blitzo confronts him. Striker remarks he thought he was still at the ceremony, and Blitzo responds that he can't stand Wrath's residents and Stolas at the same time. Striker asks Blitzo if he's disappointed in him, which he agrees with, as he's about to kill his ticket to earth behind his back. Striker tells him he's better than what he was limiting himself to do, remarking that he shouldn't be forced to fuck royalty and work for sinners who don't care for him, struggling to run a business rigged against him, when they could partner up and kill Overlords. Striker subsequently corners Blitzo to the wall, suggesting him they could start by killing Stolas.

Blitzo pretends to agree with him, as Moxxie sneaks in and grabs the sniper rifle. Once Moxxie has it, Blitzo elbows Striker after he almost made him shoot Moxxie. After a brief fight, Striker beats down the pair and gets his rifle back. Holding them at gunpoint, Striker mocks them commenting that they lost the upper hand quickly, when Blitzo tells him he's forgotten something, whistling for Loona. She hears him, but initially ignores it. Striker tells him they could have made a good team, to which Blitzo disagrees and submits him by kicking his shin and chest, pushing him to the other side of the room, and making him drop the rifle. Moxxie catches it and fires a warning shot next to Striker's head. Taunting Striker, Moxxie asks him who's weak now, when Loona arrives, kicking open the door and knocking him over who was next to it. Striker takes the opportunity to flee, jumping out the window and into the crowd gathered for the festival.

At the end of the episode, he is revealed to be an assassin hired by Stella to kill Stolas for cheating on her with Blitzo and says to Stella that he won't fail again, and she angrily told him to ensure it before hanging up. Striker then laughed and stated, "I'll get him next time".

Striker appears again when he bursts into a cafe where Stolas, Stella, and Andrealphus arranged a discussion regarding the former's divorce, likely requested by Stella to take him out, as he proceeds to open fire at Stolas before escaping but failed when he is later captured by the latter. Striker then takes the tied-up Stolas, restrained with Blessed Rope to render himself powerless, back into his lair before damaging his phone and tormenting Blitzo to rescue him, though due to Blitzo taking Loona to get her shots, Moxxie and Millie took his place. Throughout heading back, he goes from the train to the desert road again where a group of musician imps singing his theme song as he made his way back, only then does Striker would get fed up by them, lashing out, and told the musicians to get lost before proceeding to torture Stolas.

He would then converse with Stolas regarding his wife paying him to kill him and begins to angrily tell him off how there are those unlucky and lived hard lives compared to those who lived like royals like Stolas, stabbing him with a heated knife and stomping on his wound. Stolas tries fighting back by petrifying him, failing due to the Blessed Rope restraining his abilities as Strike continues to torture him, though is called out by the fact he still works with a royal, Stella, before trying to break his right leg, stabs his knee, and aiming his knife on his neck just to threaten him, though fails to provoke a nerve of Stolas by claiming Blitz "does better than him" in a rather perverted way to say it.

After having to beat him up, Striker proceeds to circle around Stolas before taunting him over how he'll never see his daughter, Octavia, thus provoking Stolas before stabbing him once more and having him say his final words. When he mentions Blitzo, Striker reiterates the fact that he isn't coming to save him. Just before delivering the kill, he received a call from Stella, telling him that she needs Stolas alive for now and she'll pay more if he does, to which he reluctantly agrees, however, Striker still proceeds to torture Stolas one more time since Stella never detailed any conditions he had to be in, as Striker intends to cut off Stolas' eyes as a trophy for him to keep. However, Moxxie and Millie burst into his lair, and the two proceeded to fight him in intense combat.

Just as Striker had the upper hand against the two, he then tries to strangle Moxxie since the last time they fought before Moxxie gets him to lower his guard quickly when he pervertedly said "harder" as the latter easily outwits him with Millie taking down Striker's statue on top of him for the kill. However, no trace or any remains of Striker's body was found except for his red scarf, meaning he has escaped once again. However, Stolas was injured so badly he was hospitalized for the time being.

After biding his time for a week, Striker turns up yet again, wanting to be hired by Crimson as a hitman for his mafia. Crimson, skeptical at his abilities, orders Striker to capture someone "of value" in order to prove his worth, with the latter replying by immediately capturing Blitzo and Fizzarolli from out the window. Crimson immediately hires Striker before the two send out a ransom message to Asmodeus.

While captured, Fizzarolli and Blitzo start arguing about each other's lives, with Striker rattling the cage the two of them in order to get the two to stop, being disgusted that the two of them are having affairs with higher class demons. Fizzarolli tries to retort, saying that Striker is no better than the royals, but Striker immediately latches onto Fizzarolli's neck as a threat, only backing down because of Fizz's status as a ransom to Asmodeus.

After a while, Blitzo and Fizzarolli manage to break themselves loose through the former's mad planning, causing an all-out massacre on Crimson's side. Striker tries to go on the offensive to try to prove himself to Crimson once again, but he, alongside the rest of the mafia, gets distracted by Fizzarolli performing "Look at This". With the gang distracted, Blitzo and Fizzarolli blow the containment center they were held at to the ground and escape.

While Blitzo and Fizzarolli thought they were in the clear, Striker catches up to both of them and catches Fizzarolli by the leg. Striker holds the cyborg jester at gunpoint, no longer caring about the ransom and just wanting to kill Fizzarolli out of his own disgust. Blitzo, during Striker's villainous breakdown, shoots at a gasoline tank, causing yet another explosion in order to release Fizzarolli from Striker's grasp. While Blitzo saves Fizzarolli from the incoming flames, Striker is last seen on fire, scampering off further into the junk pit to save his own hide.

Striker returns much later after Blitzø gets arrested for allegedly stealing Stolas's grimoire. He gives false testimony on how Blitzø hired him to kill Stolas, which the former attempts to refute to no avail. As none of the jury, sans Asmodeus and Beelzebub, are willing to stand up for the imp and hear his testimony, Blitzø is sentenced to public execution, though he manages to convince the judge, Satan, to let the rest of IMP go. However, Stolas enters just in the nick of time, revealing that he was the one who illegally gave Blitzø access to the grimoire and thus, agrees to take on all of his punishment in order to keep him safe. As such, thanks to being royalty and more valued by Hell's aristocracy, Stolas is banished from the Ars Goetia for a full century, with his powers being taken and his legions given to Andrealphus.

Quotes[]

I'll get 'em next time.
~ Striker's final line in The Harvest Moon Festival.
Look. Not every ring is some fancy ass city, with some fancy ass mansion, that only fancy ass royals get to live in. Some of us have hard lives to live. And some of us have everything we care about taken away by f*ckers like you.
~ Strikes reveals to Stolas the reason of hatred toward the royalty.
As far as I'M concerned, you two are both embarrassments to our kind for meddling with bluebloods to begin with. But at least loudmouth here has the sense to only f*ck his rich bitch instead of being a little purse dog.
~ Striker chewing out Blitz and Fizzaroli for their relationships with royals.
You think I'm just gon' let you get away after all this? I'm THROUGH losin' these fights! This worthless little pet REEKS of his over-bloated master... I'll at least enjoy gettin' rid of im'!
~ Striker to Blitzo while taking Fizzarolli hostage in "Oops".

Trivia[]

  • Striker is the first demon in the show to be confirmed to have ready access to angelic technology, a one-off line from Moxxie seemingly confirming he got it from Carmilla Carmine.
  • It is possible that he might replace Stella as the main antagonist, as his speech to Blitzo showed ambition in killing Overlords and becoming the most dangerous being in Hell.
  • Like Sir Pentious of Hazbin Hotel, Striker can be heard making noises like a snake, such as rattling his tail like a rattlesnake and the occasional hiss when he talks.
  • Striker is an dark and eviler counterpart to Blitzo.
    • Both are unusually tall imps who work as assassins.
    • Both demonstrate feats of great physical prowess.
    • Both are very good with guns.
    • Both are significantly more dangerous than they seem at first glance (albeit due to his charisma in Striker's case, and his generally low intelligence and incompetent nature in Blitzo's case).
    • Both work for Goetian royalty.
      • Striker himself notes the similarities between them and cites them as part of his "We Can Rule Together" pitch towards Blitzo. However, while Blitzo isn't entirely evil and ye cares about his friends and family, Striker doesn't appear to care for anyone and kills for anything.
  • According to Striker, not many Imps start businesses on their own, though this may have been his way of manipulating Blitzo as a few imps have been shown who have a strong drive for business (even if in often eccentric ways), most notable being Wally Wackford.
  • Striker’s horse is named Bombproof.
  • He's the first villain to end an episode while still in a position to continue their plan.
  • Striker is the first antagonist in the series to play an instrument while singing and, unlike Robo Fizz and Verosika Mayday, he didn't perform with the band.
  • He is inspired by Angel Eyes from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
  • Striker's speech towards Stolas in "Western Energy" implies he has some sort of sympathetic backstory to explain his hatred of royalty. It's been speculated among fans that he might have lost his family to the Goetias or might actually be the offspring of an imp/Goetia affair (which is supported by him canonically being an unspecified hybrid and the fact that there are different animal Goetias) whose imp family was shamed, silenced and maybe even killed for the sake of the Goetia's reputation.
  • Striker is the first imp to not have red skin, the second being Butch.
