Satin & Chenille are supporting characters in Trolls, having appeared throughout the franchise ever since. They're a pair of identical twins conjoined by the hair, and are both members of The Snack Pack. They also appeared in a non-speaking role in Trolls: Holiday in Harmony.
Appearance
- Normal
As shown in scrapbook cutaways, they're intended to look like they're wearing the same dress, except one of them is wearing it upside down. The twins are mostly similar to each other, except that they have different skin colors and outfits:
- Satin has pastel pink skin. She has blue eyes and a blue nose and lips. Satin's outfit consists of a sparkly silver and pastel purple leotard, and pastel purple leg warmers. She also has multiple earrings on each ear.
- Chenille has lavender-blue skin. She has purple eyes and a purple nose and lips. She wears a sparkly, pastel purple and silver dress. She also has silver flower earrings and an anklet on her right ankle.
The twins' hair is joined together and has different colors that flow from turquoise, then to lavender purple, and finally to bright pink. Satin's turquoise color is slightly greener than Chenille's.
Their outfits are also a joke; upon close examination, they are wearing the same dress design just one of the girl's is wearing their outfit upside down. This is confirmed in scrapbook art as well, as the girls are shown with the same triangle designed dress. The joke is therefore; "who has their dress upside down, Satin or Chenille?".
- Normal
- Normal
They mostly resemble as they did in Trolls. The animation doesn't take into the account that their "turquoise" hair is slightly different and they have the same color. It also doesn't blend into the purple part, instead being layered with clear borders between the colors. Chenille's anklet is noticeably absent as well.
The girls now have a more unique design to their outfits, with the duo now having more unique designs.
- Normal
They have the same design in Trolls and Trolls Holiday with a few improvements on how they look overall, this is due to the technical improvements between Trolls and Trolls World Tour with this being notable to have impacted the twins design.
Their outfits also now have more glitter on them.
- Normal
They appear the same as in Trolls: The Beat Goes On! with some readjustments.

Personality
Being two individuals who are conjoined together, the two tend to rarely agree on anything.
Their personality isn't really explored in Trolls, but in Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, much detail is revealed. Despite being twins, the girls have very distinct personalities that often opposite each other. Usually Satin will say something, only for Chenille to criticize it later. They often have very different opposing opinions to each other and will often have row with each other.
When one sister wants to do something, they have to negotiate with the other even if that twin doesn't want to do the activity. Chenille also tends to act like her sister is an anchor and will often volunteer her for things they both have to do. Chenille tends to try and be the dominant twin of the two, leaving Satin to cooperate with her and usually give in to her demands. Their unique position of having two minds attached to each other means that they end up living a very different life to other Trolls. The two have issues with being unable to escape each other, essentially they are trapped stuck together and this leads to issues related to personnel space and living their lives. In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Haircuffed", when Creek and Branch get their hair tied together by Poppy, the twins mocked them as they were in the same predicament as them.
In "Sibling Quibbling", Satin is shown to be the more daring one, and Chenille prefers more calming activities; in addition Satin is more social than Chenille overall. In "Chummy Sparklestone", Chenille states to keep secrets from her sister; she just quotes spoilers from books she hasn't read, allowing her to keep secrets from her sister months on end. Chenille often puts her sister down while making herself look better, and this was carried on even into Trolls: TrollsTopia from Trolls: The Beat Goes On!.
Despite having disagreements, they still care for each other, especially since Satin sacrifices a lot for Chenille. The pair do have moments wherein they both agree on the same thing and they still care for one another even when they have a falling out.
In "Hide & Go Hug", DJ Suki lists the pair as Trolls who don't take charge when she, Demo and Synth are trying to figure out who to imitate who is known to take charge in a desperate situation.
Relationships
Queen Poppy
Satin and Chenille are very close friends with Poppy. Poppy gets anxious when Chef takes Satin and Chenille and her other friends away. Although she feels worried, she is also hopeful that Satin and Chenille and the other Trolls will be okay until she gets there.
Nova Swift
In Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, Nova accepts their internship because of the honesty they showed towards her. She knows that they try their best and do want more glamorous work. She has them do a lot of tedious tasks to prepare them for the more fabulous goals she has set for them. The twins have their limits, and she understands that.
Gia Grooves
Gia mentions in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Vega Swift" that the twins often help her in fashion emergencies. Thus, she didn't mind helping them out as a returning favor by looking after Nova's baby cousin Vega Swift.
Ripley Wisp
In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Sibling Quibbling", Satin befriends Ripley during a speed friend event. Chenille is against the idea, but soon realizes that the one who takes care of her is Satin, who usually gives into what she wants as well, so occasionally she has to give the same back. Thus, she comes to terms that their life may get a bit exciting with Ripley around.
Rhythm & Blues
Upon meeting the sisters, they admitted that they were jealous of how well the two get along.
Skills & Abilities
They have most normal Troll abilities, as well as the abilities of their Tribe.
Their conjoined twin hair can be used as a catapult, and also allows one twin to toss the other and grab things. Both of these traits were shown in Trolls. They can temporarily split their hair, which was shown when they formed the wig for Bridget, so she could maintain her alias of "Lady Glittersparkles". But their hair will join up again when they're done.
Fashion
The pair are known as "The Fashion Twins", and dedicate their life to making clothes better. They often give tips to other Trolls when they need a fashion emergency. They often make outfits for their friends. They begun a internship with Nova Swift in "The Interns", having already been noticed by her in "Model Behavior". Nova likes their fashion for its ferocious nature.
The two have a habit of disagreeing on clothes they make, which leads to one twin wanting to add or remove a piece from the item. Their arguments often lead to an item that they both like in the end, plus the receptor of the item. They almost never agree on anything related to the approach of an item and tend to have opposite opinions on what something should be, which was highlight in the ASK POPPY episode "Satin & Chenille’s OOTD Fashion Fiasco", wherein if one twin would suggest one thing, the other would go for the complete opposite (polka dots versus a single polka dot). In the Trolls: TrollsTopia episode "Across the Fashionverse", they had a rare simultaneous fashion dream that they both shared together.
One weakness they showed in Trolls World Tour is that when the Snack Pack infiltrated the Rock Trolls, they made outfits to blend in with the Rock Tribe's appearance. While this did fool the Rock Trolls (mostly because Trolls among this Tribe aren't also known for being the smartest at times), the girls' outfits showed large signs of ignorance, as they were nowhere near the match for the style of Hard Rock, instead resembling Rock 'n' Roll attire. In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Whimsy Wasps", when asked to make a net to catch the Whimsy Wasps, they made the net based on form over function when they didn't like Branch's net design. The result was that the net had giant holes in and was unable to catch the Whimsy Wasps.
Music
The pair usually perform in a duet, with their vocals harmonizing with each other in an isorhythmic style, and an occasional switch to "call and response".
In "Big Poppy", when both of them auditioned to compete in the compliment rap battle, Satin tries to rap but her sister Chenille refuses to cooperate.
Their dancing style is much the same. It's seen in Trolls that they often toss each other while dancing to music.
In "How to Dance Trolls Style", Satin proves to be an excellent partner for Branch when he tires to find one for Swing dancing, but Chenille cuts in and the two dance with each other instead.
Medical Status and Issues
When panicked, a running gag for them is that they try to run in opposite directions, forgetting they are attached to each other. So at times, being joined together results in them having to cooperate with each other. It gives them unique abilities other Trolls lack, but at the cost of the two having to deal with never being able to work alone or face getting nowhere. Their condition can be a real danger for both of them if they do not.
In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Sibling Quibbling", Branch suggests about cutting their hair and thus ending their conjoined situation, but it becomes apparent by the twins and Poppy that it's a comment made out of ignorance on Branch's part.
In the episodes "The Giver" and "Sibling Quibbling", it was shown that when one twin is ill doesn't mean the other will get sick too. This results in the healthy twin having to look after her sister, as well as being restricted to what they can do while their twin recovers due to being unable to leave her behind.
Age and Birth Details
Their star sign is Gemini.[6][7] Most likely their star sign is just a nod to them being twins.

Etymology
"Satin" and "Chenille" are types of fabric. "Satin" is a shiny, smooth, and luxurious fabric, usually made of silk or other fibers, used in elegant clothing and décor, while "Chenille" is soft, fluffy, with small filaments, used in quilts, pillows, and clothing for its comfortable texture.
Chenille's name in several other languages (e.g. Spanish, German and Italian) translates to "silk", another fabric that's far different in nature to the chenille fabric. The renaming is unexplained. In all languages, both continue to be named after fabric.
Trivia
General
- According to the official Trolls World Tour bio for the twins, their models are the hardest to render out of all the Trolls.
- In the old pre-Trolls World Tour era classification, entire families were often based on used designs of existing characters. For example, Biggie is the archetype for the Giant Trolls, and Smidge for the Teaspoon Trolls. But despite Satin and Chenille's unique design, they were never used to create their own family, and instead were placed in the "Maker Trolls" family, making them an exception.
- In most cases where the girls appear, they are almost always stood facing the viewer with Satin on the left and Chenille on the right. This tends to happen in both their 3D and 2D appearances. It's extremely rare Chenille will appear on the left instead of Satin. This also often extends to merchandise of the pair.
- Icona Pop reprise their role as Satin and Chenille in the Swedish dubs of both movies.
- They're not the only conjoined twins to ever be featured as a Troll design.
- The Topps card 1992 series "Trash Can Trolls" featured a card of a Troll named "Unseparated at Beth" (card no.17a) or alternatively "Siamese Louise" (card no.17b). The Troll was actually a pair of conjoined twins, who were joined at the hair in the exact same way as Satin and Chenille.
- Note: The "Trash Can Trolls" were a series loosely based on Garbage Pail Kids. Be careful when looking up for these cards, as they contain gross-out humor, including puking and body mutilation.
- The Dam Things company produced a Troll Doll that was two-headed and is the oldest example Troll Doll of conjoined twins.
Specific To...
- Trolls
- Originally in Trolls, there was going to be a running gag that every time the twins appeared in a scene, they would be wearing a different outfit; for example, they would be wearing orange jumpsuits in the cage when first captured. However, this would have been very expensive, and was scrapped.
- In a deleted scene of Trolls, the twins show Poppy her coronation dress along with several other dresses they made for her to wear during the night, exciting her. This scene was deleted for two reasons. First, the party was changed from Poppy's coronation to the 20th anniversary of the escape from the Bergens. Second, the directors thought that at the end of the scene, when Poppy would yell saying she wanted to wear all the dresses, it made Poppy look spoiled, which wasn't a characteristic they wanted Poppy to have.
