Crimp

Crimp is a supporting character in Trolls Band Together. She is the former assistant of Velvet and Veneer.

Appearance

Crimp is an orange paper hairball-like creature with purple arms, who is three times the size of the Trolls. She has the top part of her hair tied in a bun with a purple hair scrunchie, green eyes, white framed cat-eye sunglasses with green lenses, buckteeth, and wears pink lipstick. She also has a white and orange pen in her bun.

Personality

Crimp is a nice character, even when those around her don't deserve it. For example, she went the extra mile to impress Velvet and Veneer with a custom smoothie machine (which was actually a high-power drainage vacuums). She played the ukulele when Floyd was singing Lonely People and provided encouragement when the group was trying to save Floyd. She is also highly intelligent and talented at inventing devices.

Due to being bullied as her the twins' assistant, Crimp is a huge doormat. However, when she's freed, she is shown to be very friendly and able to stand up for herself.

Relationships

Velvet and Veneer[]

She had a negative relationship with them as their assistant. Crimp felt unable to stand up to their abuse, but when Veneer admitted to he and Velvet’s crimes, Crimp was empowered as she legally handcuffed them. She was likely grateful to Veneer for indirectly liberating her, despite still having some issues with him.

Queen Poppy, Tiny Diamond, Viva and BroZone[]

Though never interacting with them directly, she gave her non-verbal support in the form of a thumbs up when they were trying to save Floyd. She also became friends with them towards the end of the movie, due to Queen Poppy having freed her from the poorly ventilated closet.

Floyd[]

She befriended him when they were both in their two-month captivity. Floyd was also very encouraging when it came to her improving ukulele skills.

Rhonda[]

At first, Crimp was mistaken by Rhonda to be food, and was briefly eaten by the armadillo bus. Fortunately, she and Rhonda became friends afterwards.

Etymology

Crimp means to compress something into folds or ridges, which her body is related to such. It is also related to how she was initially in a restricted working condition.

General

• Crimp is the only Trolls Band Together character who doesn't have her species revealed.
  • However, as revealed in storyboards of deleted scenes, she was originally going to be one of the assistants with more of her fellow species.

Specific To...

Trolls Band Together

• Tiny and Crimp were originally going to pursue a romantic relationship in the movie as a joke, being in the form of a full storyboard. However, this scene was deleted due to Tiny and Crimp's age gap making their romance questionable.
  • Also, Crimp was going to be released earlier from the closet, and be a member supporting Branch, Poppy and Tiny Diamond, during the car chase.
• In a deleted scene, Crimp was formerly going to help Velvet and Veneer thrust all four of Branch's brothers into the twins' shoulder pads.
  • The other deleted scene was when she told the audience that the twins were mean frauds, which is a scene included in the novel, near the end of the movie.

Other Media

• In the Trolls Band Together: The Junior Novelization, Crimp got introduced much earlier, being presented during the interview with Kid Ritz scene, where she got sat on by Velvet. She was also originally going to have a scene where she asked Floyd about whether she should continue standing in the corner, which made Floyd pity her. She also had some extra dialogues near the end of the plot, which was during the moment of Velvet and Veneer being exposed by telling the audience about them being mean frauds, and when she called upon the newly reformed BroZone to perform onstage at Vacay Island.
  • Due to the novelization being considered to be beta manuscript, this alternative scene are therefore only considered as filler or alternative canon.
• Crimp's appearance is similar to Cousin Itt from The Addams Family and Gossamer from the Looney Tunes.
