Official Bios

Trolls: TrollsTopia

Holly's steady, cowboy counterpart rolls out salt-of-the-earth nuggets of wisdom like tumbleweeds across the prairie. Gust serves as the Fun Sheriff for the Country tribe, and is always on the lookout to make sure that Troll games are fair and fun for all.[1]

Personality

Gust plays by the rules and is shown to enforce the "rules" of enjoyment for the benefit of others. These "rules" are rather complex, but work well. He is laid-back and serious, but rather relaxed at times. Like many of his Tribe, he believes in hard work and is knowledgeable about the things he knows.

In "The Snug-a-lug Situation", he is noted for his ability to resist hugging the most alongside Branch, Laguna Tidepool and Val Thundershock (even though it turns out that they all each hugged the Snug-a-lug after all). Like the other three Trolls, he can display arrogance (originating from his reliance on previous experiences and his ability to bring order to chaos), and thus can be overconfident.

He has moments of weakness and when it happens, he tends to react very differently to his normal self, becoming almost his complete opposite. When he speaks of disappointing Holly in "Darlin' Dos", he mentioned he once forgot to RSVP and was hit by her guilty trip, and it shows him falling apart when he normally keeps it together. In "The Snug-a-lug Situation", he had to be pinned down to prevent him from hugging the Snug-a-lug, and showed just as much fear of it breaking him as the other Trolls, and once again he falls apart as he finds things unbearable.

He also has a sense of slight goofiness to his otherwise serious nature. He often finds it difficult to resist temptations and is not so keen on defeat from losing his mail record to losing games, with the latter showing that Gust has a bad temper at times when faced with loss. While he was aware of his own refusal to finish a game, he seemed completely unaware of himself being a sore loser or his anger issues until he blew his top while trying to defend himself. Gust also pops out of random things from time to time to say random dialogue, either words of wisdom or commentary on the current situation. Often words of wisdom on the current situation in the story and, From time to time during this, ends with a comical manner.

Relationships

Friends

Holly Darlin'

Gust is a close friend of Holly's and is often seen with her in the episodes he appears. They generally know a lot about each other's habits and personalities. Gust often speaks about Holly whenever other Trolls have queries about her.

Smidge

Smidge is a trainee Deputy Fun Sheriff. She was hired because TrollsTopia is much bigger than Lonesome Flats and Gust states this as a problem. Gust and Smidge got along fine, but Smidge needed a lot more experience before Gust could give her the badge; while Smidge wanted it, Gust wasn't willing to do so until she was ready as she was making many minor mistakes. He has a lot of patience with her, even when she screwed up.

Other Trolls

Gust is friendly and on good terms with other Trolls as a result, they usually rely on him.

Family

Father

He mentions his father while dealing with the Maraca Snake in "Surprising Gust". As the snake breaks down crying about its relationship with its own father, Gust comments "Yeah, my dad was a lot like that too.", hinting his father was hard on him growing up.

Other

Gust's father, like his mother before him, was a member of the Puffalo Express, to which Gust was expected to carry on the legacy of his family.

Skills & Abilities

He has most normal Troll abilities, as well as the abilities of his Tribe.

Music

Gust has been seen playing the acoustic guitar and the fiddle.

Art

Gust attends Harper's weekly art class. According to Poppy, this is when Gust is most relaxed and lets his guard down (though not enough to be surprised by something).

Games

Gust is an expert on the rules of gaming, how to save games and how to end turns. He has books that have volumes of instructions on how to save Trolls from abandoning games, and is able to think on the go. He has years of experience doing his job.

Until "Surprising Gust", he had never been caught off guard by anyone as a result of having too much of an observational skill related to his job. This meant he could tell when Trolls were planning something for him, such as a surprise party.

However, despite his expertise, Gust is a sore loser as mentioned in "The Not So Good Sport" and K-Pop Trolls Bi-na, Young and Min were sent after him by one of the past Trolls he left a game unfinished against. Gust claimed that the reason for the abandonment of the game is simple; the opposition was cheating and evoked the rule of "a game against a cheat is no fun at all". It was accidently revealed that he has left any game in the past unfinished if he saw he was loosing, often putting down the claim that his opponent "cheated" to cover that he was a sore loser. Despite this, he himself seemed actually unaware of how bad he was until he was caught out and realized the error of his ways after he accidently let his temper at at Poppy, Holly and the K-Pop Trolls. He has since resolved this issue by returning to Lonesome Flats to finish what he started with all the Trolls he failed to complete games against.

Mail Service

Gust's other job besides Fun Sheriff is the Puffalo Express, at which he's reliable and will seek to deliver any mail in time. However, once all letters are out of his hands, he has done his job. For Gust, this is a family tradition; his father and his grandmother were part of the Puffalo Express before him.
