Sunset Canyon Retirement Home is a nursing home located in Royal Woods. It is the current residence of the Loud siblings' maternal grandfather Albert. It is run by an overly strict nurse named Sue, and it contains a pool, a shuffleboard court, and rooms for all of the elderly residents.

History[]

It first appeared in the Season 2 episode "The Old and the Restless". Lincoln came to visit Pop-Pop, and he finds out that it is run by the overly strict nurse Sue. She sets up really strict rules for the home's residents, and she has a curfew, in which if they are outside after 6:00, they get kicked out.

When Lincoln and Albert go out for a fun day together, they hurry back only to find that they're too late, and Sue has already locked up. However, Albert's friends refuse to let him get kicked out, and Sue reluctantly lets Albert stay, and stops treating the others like little kids, letting them do what they want around the home.

In "Insta-gran", Albert's latest love interest Myrtle becomes an inhabitant here.

In "Fool Me Twice", Luan was entertaining the Sunset Canyon Retirement Home inhabitants at the time when the rest of the Loud family were coming up with a plan to not get her April Fools' Day pranks on them.

In "Ruthless People", when the Loud house was infested with termites, the family was forced to either go to Aunt Ruth's, or to Pop-Pop's. After some convincing, Lincoln, Lori, Luna, Lynn, Lola, and Lynn Sr. were able to go to the retirement home to partake in the luxuries, but all of the good stuff was out of order, with the pool and shuffleboard court being closed, the food not being tasty, the restricting time schedule, and the broken ventilation. When the rest of the family was revealed to have a great time at Aunt Ruth's lakehouse, the family made deals again to switch places, but when Aunt Ruth's place turns out to be disastrous, the family called up the others to see how they were doing, but it is revealed that the retirement home had rented out a cruise, due to the AC being broken, making Lincoln, Lori, Luna, Lynn, Lola, and Lynn Sr. furious that the others are STILL having a great time.

In "Resident Upheaval", it was revealed that Myrtle doesn't officially live at Sunset Canyon Retirement Home, as she competes for a room there against Gayle McBride. It is also revealed that Seymour, Bernie, and Scoots are part of the retirement home's board.

In A Loud House Christmas, it appears in live action form. Lincoln and Clyde goes there to try to get Luan fired in a attempt to get his family together for Christmas.

In "High Crimes", Lincoln and Clyde in David Steele cosplay investigate some stolen sports equipment from here.

In "Prize Fighter", Lola volunteers here as a candy striper to acquire a good reputation, then again just for the thrill of it, and earns a trophy shaped like a golden bedpan.

In the comic Loud and Proud, Albert babysits Lily at the retirement home, and she proves very popular with all the residents.

In "Pressure Cooker", Lincoln attends the retirement home's potluck, and Clyde brings eclairs.

Trivia[]

  • The rule in which a resident can get kicked out of the nursing home for missing the 6:00 curfew is very unrealistic. In real life, residents are forced to stay in the nursing home and if they miss their curfew, they will be taken back by the workers.
  • According to Albert in "Ruthless People", he said that the meals served stopped using salt due to a high blood pressure epidemic that occurred in 2013.
  • "Cat-astrophe" reveals that residents are allowed no more than one pet.
  • "Pressure Cooker" reveals that the nursing home has a yearly potluck.
