Gai witnesses the ship's crash landing from the ground while getting food. Marvelous and the crew escape the Galleon, but are intercepted by the legendary space sheriff,Gavan. He says that the Gokaigers are under arrest for acts of piracy. Though Captain Marvelous and the Gokaigers claim the investigation by the Special Police Dekaranger cleared them of the piracy charges TV STORY-Ep. 5: Judgement Pirates, Gavan approaches them and the Gokaigers transform. Despite being outnumbered, the veteran sheriff easily defeats and apprehends them.
On board the Dolgiran, the Gokaigers come to the realization that Gai was still free. When the Gokaigers are brought into a indoor stadium, they are met by armed Space Police and Chief of Space Police Weeval. As the pirates are led to the gallows, Gavan questions Weeval about the specifics of the Gokaigers' acts of piracy when they proclaimed their innocence. Weeval says that he doesn't need to hear their claims, but Gavan says that they have to follow procedure as Space Police. However, Weeval tells Gavan that they defied the Zangyack, which confuses the dangling Gokaigers. As they are about to be executed, Gavan releases the Gokaigers, who fight the armed guards who are Gormin in disguise. Gavan explains to Marvelous that he arrested the Gokaigers to draw out the fake Weeval, as the Space Police would never join the Zangyack. Weeval then reveals his true identity as the action commander Chief of Makuu Prison Ashurada. Ashurada congratulates Gavan on his ingenuity for using the pirates to flush him out. However, he introduces Gavan Bootleg, a Space Sheriff like robot whose design is based on both Space Police and Zangyack technologies. Gavan Bootleg manages to match Gavan's every move, and more Gormin appear to surround the Gokaigers. Gavan tells the Gokaigers to run as he'll handle the last of them. After tossing their Mobilates to them, Marvelous notices a familiar hand signal that Gavan gives. Marvelous is left spaced out as the other Gokaigers tranform to fight off the Gormin until Gai and GoZyuDrill appears and rescues the Gokaigers. With the pirates out of the way, Ashurada has Bootleg transport Gavan to the Makuu Space, to Gavan's shock as the police had destroyed the syndicate. From the sidelines, Basco ta Jolokia notes that Marvelous got himself into trouble again.
On board the Galleon, Gai boasts of his impeccable timing, which Don and Luka start harassing him about. Joe notices Marvelous feeling down and asks if he's worried about Gavan. He says that he may know Gavan from his past, and Ahim asks for the details. Marvelous explains that while he was a young stowaway on a ship, the Zangyack began to attack it, causing a large fire and cutting off his means of escape. However, Gavan told him to jump and said that he could either seize his future and live through the ordeal or die. He told the young Marvelous to "count on courage", and the young Marvelous took a leap of faith into the arms of Gavan. Joe tells Marvelous that he (Marvelous) owes Gavan his life for that act. Basco then calls Marvelous to give him information on the fate of Gavan.
On board the Gigant Horse, Dyrandoh berates Ashurada for failing to accomplish his mission, but Ackdos Gill gives Ashurada the chance to explain himself. At the same time, the Gokaigers meet Basco, who tells them that Gavan was taken into Makuu Space, a parallel dimension created by the revived Crime Syndicate Makuu made of malicious energy. Ashurada explains that Gavan had dismantled the Makuu Syndicate, leaving the space to collapse significantly, and Ashurada reveals that he is related to their original leader, Don Horror and has inherited his blood. Ashurada's plan is to catalyze his blood to expand the Makuu Space. Insarn explains to a confused Dyrandoh that "catalyze" means torturing Gavan to arouse the blood of Don Horror, and she realizes that the Makuu Space's expansion could consume Earth. Basco tells the Gokaigers that Gavan is purportedly at the top floor of the Makuu Prison, the worst in the universe. To further the challenge, Basco says that no one has escaped the prison in its 2,600 years of existence. He leaves the Gokaigers with a warning to Marvelous not to go there.
Oddly, the six see a man who appears to be Gavan, walking while coaching a panda in how to walk upright. Gai notes that it's not Gavan, but rather Shiro Akebono, formerly known as Battle Kenya of Battle Fever J. Joe is further confused when another man who also looks like Gavan shows up with a cart, this time Daigoro Oume, who used to be DenziBlue. While Luka notes their similarities in appearance to Gavan, Gai dismisses her comment, by saying the way they smell can tell them apart.
However, through this, Shiro and Daigoro tell them to use the Battle Kenya and DenziBlue Ranger Keys to generate a portal leading to the prison using those team's Greater Powers. Before they set off, Marvelous says that he should go alone, but Joe says that Gavan set his path to becoming a pirate and that they'd do as they wish since that was what it meant to be a pirate. The Gokaigers successfully break into the prison while Gavan is brutally whipped by Gavan Bootleg. The Gokaigers discover that villains and former villains such as Jealousto, Bae, Vanculia, Dark Shadow, the remnants of Gaiark's ministry, and others are being held captive. After their cover was blown after the immense ruckus the former Sentai villains made in wanting to get out and a Gormin finds them, the Gokaigers freed the villains and fought the incoming horde.
With the Gokai Galleon abandoned, Basco prepares to the board the ship and lay claim to it and the Grand Powers. However, just as he prepares to do so, he finds himself confronted by an unfamiliar team claiming themselves to be the 36th Super Sentai, the Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. Basco and the Go-Busters briefly do battle, however Basco finds Sally too busy eating bananas (thanks to Yoko, who gave her the fruit) to help him. As a result, he decides to abort the plan to board the Galleon and leaves. The Go-Busters decide to leave the rest to the Gokaigers.
Joe and Gai take the Gormins on by transforming into the boxing Rangers, DenziBlue and Go-On Gold while their teammates try to find Gavan. The Zangyack used the Makuu City to delay the Gokaigers, with each door now a portal to other locations. Luka and Doc fight the family of the Sneak Brothers as HurricaneYellow and Battle Kenya, while Marvelous and Ahim reach the next floor to find themselves near the ocean to fight Robogōgu of the 10-sai as Gosei Red and Gosei Pink. They then mysteriously get sent to a forest and briefly fight Kinggon of the Bigfoot, then once more to a quarry to fight Great King Mons Drake. Ahim uses the Twistornado card to divert Mons Drake's attention while Marvelous flies for the final door.
Back in his Gokai Red form, Marvelous finds Gavan on the top floor, but Ashurada sends Gavan Bootleg to fight the pirate, who declares that he'll make the first escape in the prison's history. After enduring a grueling fight with Bootleg, Marvelous manages to free Gavan, and the Gokaigers blast a large hole in their respective floors of the prison, then reunite with Joe and Gai on the bottom floor. Gai then activates the Gokai Galleon Buster with a Special Charge as they destroy the prison, and they open another portal to make their exit. Having returned to Earth, Gavan battles Gavan Bootleg while the Gokaigers fight Ashurada. They activate all-pink, all-white, and all-red Gokai Changes and Gavan finishes Gavan Bootleg off with the Gavan Dynamic.
The Gokaigers defeat the Action Commander Ashurada with a Gokai Slash and Shooting Star after using the Gokai Blast to get rid of Ashurada's extra arms. However, he grows in size, causing the Makuu Space to expand and start enveloping the Earth, causing the Gokaigers to summon GokaiOh and GoZyuDrill to form GoZyu GokaiOh. However Ashurada uses telekinesis to attack with buildings and the mecha is quickly overwhelmed. Engine Machalcon comes in unannounced to assist the Gokaigers and form Kanzen GokaiOh, which then surfs around on the back of Electronic Starbeast Dol, and hit him with some Dol Lasers and a Kanzen Slash to stun him, then hit him with the Dol Gokai Fire to destroy the drills on Ashurada's shoulders. Marvelous jumps out of the robo's cockpit, and he and Gavan position themselves atop the dragon's head, then execute the Gavan Marvelous Dynamic to finish off Ashurada.
Having won the battle, Gavan takes the time to tell Marvelous that he's proud of what he has become. Not just as a pirate, but a good man. Shiro and Daigoro then join in the celebration. A voice requests the heroes to all transform together, soon the Gokaigers return their respective keys and they all transform. After this, Gai's excitement causes him to request autographs from the three heroes. TV STORY-Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Space Sheriff Gavan: The Movie
The Final Greater Power[]
On the Gokai Galleon, the crew review their twenty-eight powers they obtained and the five that Basco has taken. When they realize there is one unaccounted for with Gai revealed it to be the Kakurangers' Greater Power. With it being her last fortune, Navi's only clue is saying "a ninja is playing hide and seek", which makes no sense to the Gokaigers. When Ahim mentions praying at a shrine to better their chances, the crew remembers their meeting with Domon and the mission he gave them to save the Negakure Shrine, which they realize has the same characters as "kakure".
Upon returning to the shrine to search the grounds, Marvelous finds a strange pot that holds the Kakurangers' ally Ninjaman who was sealed again for being reckless. Having no idea what happened in the world while he was sealed, and worried why the Three God Generals did not release him once his sentence ended, Gai informs Ninjaman of the Legend War that happened in his absence and the sacrifice that the Kakurangers made along with the other Super Sentai teams. With their rowdiest members being respective, Ninjaman is also learns of the Gokaigers' actions and quest before being asked to give the Kakurangers' greater power to them so they can fulfill their dream. However, due to his history with humans, Ninjaman refuses but decides to stay on board and help fight the Zangyack Empire to see if he can trust the pirates completely. TV STORY-Ep. 45: The Confused Ninja
After watching the Gokai Galleon crew for over a week, Ninjaman decides to train the pirates in the basics of being a Super Sentai team. With only Doc, Ahim, and Gai going through with it, Ninjaman deems only them worthy of the Kakurangers' greater power before sensing a strange presence. He and the others discover Action Commander Juju as he summons two Zugormin to fight them before Gokai Red, Gokai Blue, and Gokai Yellow arrive. After firing darts into Gokai Green and Gokai Silver, Juju is forced to retreat after failing to hit Gokai Red. Soon after, while having lunch, Doc and Gai suddenly start acting crazy and they go out to fight. Ahim follows them as Ninjaman follows in a huff after seeing Captain Marvelous and the others show no concern. Ahim and Ninjaman find many other people acting crazy before finding Doc and Gai fighting each other before assuming their Gokaiger forms as they attempt to stop them. But in a gambit, Ahim ends up taking the two's blows as she manages to snap Gokai Green and Gokai Silver out of their madness. By that time, having Navi analyze his Gokai Sabre for Juju's mind-altering dart, Gokai Red and the others find the Action Commander's base and they attempt to destroy the crystal ball he is using to control people. However, Juju swallows the crystal ball to ensure that his spell over the humans continues. Contacted by Navi, the others arrive to their shipmates' aid against Juju as they use the Sun Vulcan Keys to defeat some of the Gormin. After apologizing for underestimating them, Ninjaman joins the Gokaigers as they use the Kakuranger Keys to fight Juju and the Gormin while Gokai Silver assumes Gold Mode to defeat the Zugormin. After being hit by the Gokai Galleon Buster, ensuring his spell is broken, Insarn enlarges Juju as GokaiOh and GoZyuJin are formed to fight him. However, Juju overpowers them before the Kakuranger Keys emerge as Ninjaman tells them to use his team's Greater Power: which turns out to be himself. Ninjaman battles Juju before Kanzen GokaiOh is formed to deliver the final blow. Later, after deciding to find the Three God Generals, Ninjaman summons his cloud to take his leave until the Gokaigers need him once more. Knowing that they need the five greater powers in his possession, the Gokai Galleon crew know that they must fight Basco to achieve their goal to get the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. TV STORY-Ep. 46: Hero Eligibility
Fated Showdown[]
With only five Greater Powers left to get, the Gokaigers start to hunt down Basco. However, Basco is also hunting them as he launches a surprise attack on them instead using his two remaining Giant Pseudo-Lifeforms, Goldroid Geronpa and Sunroid Solar. After destroying the last of his giants, the Gokaigers fight a wounded Sally and tend to his wound aboard the Gokai Galleon despite Joe's warning that it might be another of Basco's schemes. Though it is, the kindness he got from the pirates starts to give Sally second thoughts before acting on it and learning he took a decoy as Marvelous convinces Sally to join his crew. Predicting Sally's change of heart, Basco detonates the bomb he planted on a necklace he gave to him once he was close enough to Marvelous. However, the monkey managed to contain the blast with Marvelous knocked out while the others' attempt to avenge Sally results in their defeat as Basco relieves them of their Ranger Keys and boards the Gokai Galleon to get the final element to get the Greatest Power: Navi. TV STORY-Ep. 47: The Limits of Betrayal
But as Navi attempts to hide from Basco as he brings the Gokaiger Ranger Keys to life to find her, the Gokai Galleon take refuge at an abandoned church until Navi gives them the ship's whereabouts. With that knowledge, the others storm the Gokai Galleon while Marvelous rests to heal his wounds and thinks of Sally's sacrifice with piece of the necklace bomb he obtained. Defeating their Ranger Keys, the Gokaigers make their way to the bridge as the Gokai Red Key brings Navi to Basco. Once realizing who they are, Basco throws them out of the Gokai Galleon before he and the Gokai Red Key overwhelm them before Marvelous intervenes and reclaims his Ranger Key.
Though Basco reveals AkaRed's reasons and balked the notion of giving the Ranger Keys back to their rightful owners, Marvelous tells him he does not care and that anyone who gets in the way of the Gokaigers' dreams will be blown away, no matter who it is. With that, the two pirates battle until Gokai Red stabs Basco's cutlass through their feet for what would be a mutual death blow from their pistols. However, revealing that the necklace piece had shielded his heart from Basco's shot, Marvelous survived while Basco dies. The Gokaigers obtain all thirty four Greater Powers. TV STORY-Ep. 48: The Fated Showdown
The Greatest Treasure in the Universe[]
Despite his body having still not fully recovered from his showdown with Basco, Captain Marvelous states the time has come for the Gokaigers to claim the Greatest Treasure of the Universe. However, the others worried about using the Great Powers that were stolen by Basco without the approval of their original owners. Suddenly, they are enveloped by a blinding light and before them appear Takayuki Hiba of Sun Vulcan, Sho Hayate of the Changemen, Dai of the Flashmen, Akira of the Maskmen, and Remi Hoshikawa of the Fivemen who reveal that they have watched over the Gokaigers during their travels and thus consider them worthy of their Great Powers yet left a cryptic remark.
Remembering that Basco needed Navi, the Gokaigers find that he can transform into a door that can be opened by the thirty four red Ranger Keys and lead to the center of Earth where the Greatest Treasure in the Universe is. After putting their hands on the Treasure, they hear a voice that introduces itself as the Will of the Planet who communicates with them through it, informing them that they now hold the power to reshape the universe as they see fit. However, any wish made on the treasure would erase the Super Sentai from history. While wondering about what they should do, the Gokaigers are attacked by Insarn in the Great Insarn. Though they manage to defeat Insarn, she was actually a distraction to keep the Gokaigers from learning of the mass Zangyack armada bent on wiping them out. TV STORY-Ep. 49: The Greatest Treasure in the Universe:
The Space Pirates' Last Stand[]
Defeated by the numbers, the wounded space pirates wander through the city helping those who are suffering from the invasion, including some familiar faces they met during their journey. While trying to save a woman covered by debris, Gai is assisted by Goushi of the Zyurangers who insists that the Gokaigers must use the Greatest Treasure in the Universe to protect the Earth, regardless of what would happen with the other Super Sentai heroes. Reunited at the wrecked Gokai Galleon with the others, Gai tries to convince them to make use of the Treasure to erase the Zangyack, but much to his surprise, they do not agree with him, claiming that using the Treasure would not only erase the Super Sentai from history, but also take from the people of Earth the hope and courage that they learned from them. However, they leave the final decision at his hands, and Gai ultimately destroys the Treasure with the Gokai Spear.
The next day comes and Dyrandoh marches forward with an army of Gormin, Zugormin, and Dogomin to start his extermination campaign, but is stopped by the Gokaigers who claim that they will face him not only as pirates, but as a Super Sentai protecting the Earth. TV STORY-Ep. 50: The Day of Battle With Navi using the Free Joker while the others hold Dyrandoh off, Marvelous and Gai ram into the Gigant Horse to take control of it and use it to blast the armada to bits. On the ground, Dyrandoh is shocked at the loss of their great invasion fleet before being destroyed as the Gigant Horse loses altitude fast before crashing into a valley. In shock, the Gokaigers think that Marvelous and Gai are dead, but they escaped as Gosei Red and Go-On Wings Hybrid and flew out of there, landing near the other Gokaigers. But Ackdos also survived, declaring that they should accept their destruction by his hand with Gokaigers explaining they have the power of the thirty-four Super Sentai teams behind them and that Ackdos made a grave error attacking the Earth. Using various Ranger Key combinations, the Gokaigers eventually manage to destroy Ackdos.
Several months later, the Gokaigers reunite at the Snack Safari (now renovated into the Snack New Safari) and are informed that the Zangyack is losing influence throughout the universe, thanks to much of their military might being destroyed in the second invasion of Earth and the deaths of the Emperor and his only heir. Joe said that their splintering was inevitable, and Marvelous asks the owner for another bowl of curry (having finished his fifth helping). Gai then runs in, having said goodbye to his family and friends, and Don informs the crew that the Galleon has been fully repaired and is ready to go. Luka asks where they're headed next, and Marvelous says they're heading for the next Greatest Treasure in the Universe, which he thinks is on the Zangyack homeworld.
When the Gokaigers leave, they are approached by the same group of kids and the two teachers from before, now wanting the Gokaigers' autographs as they saved the world from the Zangyack, which excites Gai as he realises he is now regarded as highly as he regards the Super Sentai. However, Ahim tells them that they're pirates who were looking for a treasure, and that the Zangyack were only in their way. The Gokaigers leave (though Gai promises an autograph later) and the kids thank the Gokaigers and wish them luck on their journey. On board the repaired Galleon, Marvelous opens the Treanger Chest and releases the 192 Ranger Keys back to their original owners, while Gai yells that he'll be back for New Year's, and hopefully for spring and summer breaks too. As the Gokaigers turn to re-enter the ship, Marvelous spots a figure at the bow: AkaRed, who nods his approval before disappearing. Marvelous bids his mentor a final goodbye. Once nearly out the Earth's atmosphere, Marvelous exclaims that their next destination is the Zangyack homeworld, with his fellow crewmates confirming on this. He then turns the wheel, and the Galleon sails off into space taking its crew towards new adventures. TV STORY-Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates

Counterparts[]
With all the Ranger Keys gathered, each of the original five Gokaigers has what seems to be a counterpart from each of the 34 previous Sentai Teams and the four Sentai teams that succeed them. This is because of a preference for the first three Gokaigers, Marvelous, Joe and Luka, of using the Ranger Keys associated with their respective colors. Ahim mostly uses pink and white keys and some non-pink and white keys, and Don uses green and black keys and some non-green and black keys. However, as pink, white, green, black and yellow are not present in every team, they adjust accordingly. When a Sentai team has both a white and pink ranger or both a green and black ranger, Ahim will use the pink or black key. Gai's counterpart is every sixth ranger of each team that has them. Additional rangers and other heroes don't have any counterparts and are used when deemed necessary. It should be noted though, that as these are just preferences and associations, the Gokaigers can use any color Ranger Key and have done so multiple times.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Ranger Keys (海賊戦隊ゴーカイジャーレンジャーキー Kaizoku Sentai Gōkaijā Renjā Kī): These keys are the main Ranger Keys used by the Gokaigers. The core 5 Gokaiger Keys can be used in GokaiOh to execute the Gokai Star Burst finisher. When all 6 Gokaiger Keys are used together, they summon the Kanzen Soul, allowing GokaiOh, GoZyuJin and Engine Machalcon to combine into Kanzen GokaiOh.
- Gokai Red Key (ゴーカイレッドキー Gōkai Reddo Kī): Captain Marvelous' personal Ranger Key that allows him to transform into Gokai Red.
- Gokai Blue Key (ゴーカイブルーキー Gōkai Burū Kī): Joe Gibken's personal Ranger Key that allows him to transform into Gokai Blue.
- Gokai Yellow Key (ゴーカイイエローキー Gōkai Ierō Kī): Luka Millfy's personal Ranger Key that allows her to transform into Gokai Yellow.
- Gokai Green Key (ゴーカイグリーンキー Gōkai Gurīn Kī): Don Dogoier's personal Ranger Key that allows him to transform into Gokai Green.
- Gokai Pink Key (ゴーカイピンクキー Gōkai Pinku Kī): Ahim de Famille's personal Ranger Key that allows her to transform into Gokai Pink.
- Gokai Silver Key (ゴーカイシルバーキー Gokai Shirubā Kī): Gai Ikari's personal Ranger Key that allows him to transform into Gokai Silver.
- Gold Anchor Key (ゴールドアンカーキー Gōrudo Ankā Kī): A special key that allows Gai to access Gold Mode, his personal super mode which grants him the combined powers of all 15 Sixth Rangers. After Gai somehow fused the keys of Go-On Gold and Go-On Silver, Don would later suggest that he do the same with all 15 Sixth Ranger keys using his imagination. After Gai pleaded for it, all 15 Sixth Rangers banded together to form the Golden Anchor Key, a key-shaped like an Anchor with all the Sixth Rangers faces on it. Gai normally uses his Ranger Keys by placing them inside his Gokai Cellular and then scanning them, but the Anchor Key is instead inserted in a slot in the bottom of the Gokai Cellular. Normally only used by Gai, the Super DVD has Captain Marvelous use it.
- Gokai Christmas Key (ゴーカイクリスマスキー Gōkai Kurisumasu Kī): Combined form of the Gokai Red and Gokai Green Keys, with a gold Gokaiger emblem on the helmet.
The Legend Sentai Ressha (レジェンド戦隊レッシャー Rejendo Sentai Ressha) are Ressha based on the mecha, specifically those belonging to the Red heroes, of the ToQgers' predeceeding Super Sentai teams. They can form a unique combination of ToQ-Oh reminiscent of past Sentai Robos by switching with Red Ressha. The ToQ Changer toy is shown to have sounds for Legend Ressha of all 37 previous Sentai.
Gokaiger Ressha (ゴーカイジャーレッシャー Gōkaijā Ressha) - The Ressha associated with the Gokaigers, based off of Gokai Red's Gokai Galleon; when replacing Red Ressha in ToQ-Oh, it forms ToQ-Oh GokaiOh. Also appears as an SG Ressha. The GokaigerSoul (ゴーバスターソウル GōkaijāSōru) as yet only exists as an unused sound in the Ryusoulgers' Ryusoul Ken.[1][2]

- The Gokaigers are notable as being the Sentai team that has come to the most antagonistic blows with other Sentai teams, and even other heroes, such as Kamen Riders, fighting most of the teams and heroes that have come after them. However, each time they have come to peaceful terms and aid them in the end.

Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross[]
As the then current Super Sentai team, the Gokaigers were one of the five teams featured in Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross. GokaiOh was also featured. Unlike the Goseigers, Shinkengers and Go-Ongers, who all appeared with their Sixth Rangers (the other team being the Gorengers, who had no Sixth), Gokai Silver was absent in this game.
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Gathered Transformation! 35 Sentai![]
The story of this game involves the Gokaigers going to a planet Navi tells them has the true Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Once the Gokaigers arrive, they're attacked by Zangyack and all the Ranger Keys are lost, scattered across the world. You'll play as Gokai Red most of the time as he searches the planet looking for the keys. Beating enemies unlocks new maps that contain areas with new keys etc. There are also minigames involved that allow you to play as the other Gokaigers. Gokai Silver is the game's hidden character and unlike the Wii game, Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross, you can Gokai Change into every team.
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Let's Go Gokai Galleon[]
Both GokaiOh and the Gokai Galleon are playable in the iOS game Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Let's Go Gokai Galleon. The game is a third person shooter that allows the user to control the Gokai Galleon or GokaiOh to destroy a series of oncoming obstacles as well as enemy Zangyack ships.
