His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While his dislike for Victor von Doom can be seen as too spiteful, it's pretty justified due to his shady nature and how his heinous qualities only increase over the course of both films.
- Cares greatly about his friends, especially his best friend Reed Richards, whom he always protected and is always willing to help.
- On top of protecting him, it's mentioned Ben has agreed serveral times too do things he didn't like for Reed's sake.
- While he does tend to clash with Johnny Storm multiple times, it's shown he still cares greatly about the boy.
- Despite technically sharing the admirable standard of the films with his team, Ben stands out as he's making a greater sacrifice than the other members of his team, as his powers also turn him into a monster.
- Also despite the Silver Surfer sacrificing himself to stop Galactus, Ben still manages to stand out due to having less resources compared to the Surfer's cosmic powers.
Fantastic Four (2005)[]
- Accompanies his best friend Reed on his quest to finance his experiment, going to various companies including Victor von Doom's despite Ben's great dislike for him.
- Accepts being co-pilot of the mission for Reed despite him not particularly liking the fact that Johnny Storm will be his captain.
- Moments after being transformed into a rock monster, Ben tries to prevent a man from committing suicide at the Brooklyn Bridge. He later saves that same man when he fell into oncoming traffic.
- While he caused a massive car pile-up, this was an accident as he was just trying to save a man from getting run over, he later also tried to rescue everyone and didn't attack the cops when they held him at gunpoint.
- Stopped a fire truck from falling off the bridge, saving a group of firefighters.
- Despite being heartbroken by his wife leaving him due to his new appearance, he didn't went after her and accepted her decision.
- He didn't blame Reed or anyone else for the accident that turned him into a monster.
- Despite his condition, Ben still didn't lash out on the people that were taking pictures of him or giving weird looks.
- While he did eventually had a big fight with Reed over him going out with Sue instead of working on his cure, his anger and frustration was justified as he was constantly humiliated and mocked throughout the film.
- After being tricked by Doom into being cured with Reed's machine, he initially was happy and even told Victor that the machine would work for him too, meaning that he expected Doom to be cured as well.
- Seeing that he was tricked by Doom and that he was gonna kill the rest of the team, Ben used Reed's machine to become a rock monster again, sacrificing his chance at a normal life for a way to stop Doom.
- Fought Doom directly in a one-on-one fight while Sue rescued Reed, and later was a key part in defeating Victor.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer[]
- As Reed and Sue's wedding was approaching, Ben tried to convinced his best friend to stop his research and focus on his wedding.
- After finding out that Reed was secretly building a sensor to track the movements of the Silver Surfer, Ben was willing to keep the secret from Sue to not interrupt the wedding.
- When Reed got slightly panicked due to his wedding, Ben held him together as he literally got cold feet.
- After the Silver Surfer flew by New York, Ben stopped a helicopter that malfunctioned next to Reed's wedding, saving his girlfriend Alicia and everyone else from getting sliced.
- On a mission to try to capture the Silver Surfer in London, Ben and the team managed to reattach the London Eye after it came off, saving all the people that were there.
- Calmed Johnny down when he got worried about the arrival of the Surfer apparently meaning the end of the world.
- Him and the Fantastic Four manage to separate the Silver Surfer from his board and capture him.
- Realizing about the incoming threat of Galactus and that Doom returned to steal the Surfer's powers, Ben and the rest of the team freed the Surfer from captivity to ask for his help.
- Temporarily gave his powers to Johnny so he could defeat Doom.
- Even while depowered, Ben managed to use a crane to deliver the final blow on a weakened Doom, knocking him into the ocean and seemingly stopping him for good.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can occasionally be a little wrathful and quick to act on impulse before thinking, as seen when he gets annoyed by Johnny, trying to physically attack him due to how much he annoys him, or when he encounters Doom again and immediately tries to break his neck (though this last one is justifiable due to how dangerous he is and the damage he caused).
