General Overview

Generally pleasant: Near Pure Good characters, while they can be mean sometimes, they however show themselves to be very honorable.

Alignment: Near Pure Good characters are always portrayed as either Lawful Good, Neutral Good or Chaotic Good.

Qualities: Near Pure Good characters are never evil or neutral, despite having the occasional corrupting factors.

Positiveness: They are rarely portrayed in a negative fashion.

Categories that are incompatible with Near Pure Good

Anti-Hero

While they fight on the side of good, anti-heroes have too many flaws that prevent them from being near pure good. Also, near pure good characters always fight on the side of good whereas anti-heroes fight on the side of good sometimes depending on if it benefits them and are by nature very corruptible.

Berserkers

They are way too short-tempered, violent and destructive to qualify since they let their anger get the best of them and often lash out at anything and even the smallest things, while wrathful near pure goods can control temper a bit and don't let their anger get the best of them.

Chaotic Neutral

Chaotic Neutral is incompatible with being Near Pure Good as Near Pure Good characters can never be neutral. If they are in a chaotic alignment, it would be Chaotic Good.

Egotists

Egotists often put themselves before others. Near Pure Good heroes often act selflessly and care about others before they care about themselves. Thus, egotists can never qualify for Near Pure Good.

Extremists

Characters that are extremists can never be considered to be Near Pure Good as they are motivated to commit atrocities in the name of good.

Fallen

Unless they end up redeeming themselves, characters that used to be heroes but turned evil can never qualify to be Near Pure Good.

Game Changer

While a Near Pure Good may be serious they do not qualify such category to overall darken the mood as they are supposed to be presented much more positive than that.

Grey Zone

Characters that are in the grey zone are often morally ambiguous, they can be anti-heroes, anti-villains, antagonists, whereas characters that are Near Pure Good are, without a doubt, on the side of good and they want to help people.

Heroes by Proxy

The exact opposite of both Pure Good and Near Pure Good. Despite their flaws, heroes that are Near Pure Good want to commit heroic acts, while heroes by proxy do not actively want to be heroes but are forced into it by circumstance.

Heroic Assassins

Heroic assassins can never qualify to be Near Pure Good as they lack sympathetic, merciful and incorruptible traits that Near Pure Good Heroes have and are too lethal.

Heroic Gangsters

Many heroic gangsters have morally questionable traits that would make them anti-heroic criminals and thus incompatible with Near Pure Good.

Heroic Misanthropes

Heroic misanthropes can never qualify as Near Pure Good as they have too many corrupting qualities to count such as their resentment of humanity.

Heroic Species

These groups have no moral agency.

Heroic Xenophobes

Hating someone based on something that they cannot control is the exact opposite of traits that Near Pure Good characters would have.

Lawful Neutral

Much like Chaotic Neutral above, Lawful Neutral characters can never qualify as Near Pure Good characters can never be neutral. If they are in a lawful alignment, it would be Lawful Good.

On & Off

Despite their flaws, characters that are Near Pure Good are heroes and good people at heart. As such, they don't switch sides.

Organizations

Organizations lack a moral agency.

Teams

The same exact reason why organizations and groups of species are incompatible.

Special Cases That Can Apply

Amoral

Despite the infrequency of NPGs qualifying as this, there can still be characters who still have cases of a moral agency that's unclear. However, their amorality isn't much and they still always function as a good. Those who qualify as this can considered minor amoral.

Control Freaks

It is uncommon for NPGs to be bossy however, it isn't impossible and unlike anti-heroic control freaks, their bossiness is limited and are only slightly controlling. They tend to be bossy because they are just trying to protect others, so they don't mean any harm.

Heroic Jerks

While it is rare for characters who are jerks to qualify for NPG, it isn't impossible, provided their jerkish behavior is fairly minor or if it something that the character in question learns from and they stop doing as time goes on.

Heroic Hegemony

Heroes may qualify under this if they seek to use their powers for peaceful and benevolent means. An example would be a hero trying to defeat a villain who has already conquered the world in order to make it a better place to live. Heroes who seek to have conquest or oppression of groups they have prejudicial views against would not qualify.

Heroic Mercenaries

This is complicated as mercenaries are often guns for hire who are either only after their own self-interests or as a profession as a means to an end. That being said, while being a mercenary is enough to disqualify heroes from being Pure Good, heroic mercenaries can still qualify for Near Pure Good provided they were a mercenary in the past and abandoned their life as a mercenary for the greater good.

Incompetent

Given how scarce the number of Near Pure Goods being this, there are some characters who can still qualify as this. However, their incompetence must not be too serious, and is still at least capable of being very admirable. Near Pure Goods who have this as a prevention should go under minor incompetent.

Lethal

This is a rare category to qualify as who are Near Pure Good almost never willingly kill another character no matter how heinous their crimes are. There can be exceptions to this rule, however, if the Near Pure Good in question's unnecessary violence committed is minor.

Status Dependent upon Player Choice

Characters like these can almost never qualify as many of their decisions are based on what the player ends up picking. Exceptions can, however, be made if the character's personality outside the player's choice meets the standard and if the good decisions made are considered to be canon.

Important Notes

It is highly recommended to add what the hero kept their entire lives and not preventions that they used to have or don't have when factoring preventions.
