Sigma is the final boss from Mega Man X2. With the help of the X-Hunters, Sigma gained a new body much stronger than his original body.[1] X fights Sigma inside the Central Computer Stage after Zero opens the path to him. Once his first form is destroyed, Sigma assumes his true form: the Sigma Virus.
Strategy[]

Sigma Virus[]
Sigma Virus (シグマウィルス) is the final boss from Mega Man X2. With his Reploid body destroyed, Sigma reveals his true form as a virus. Taking the power of the Central Computer, he continues to fight X with an energy body shaped like a 3D wire frame head of Sigma.[3][4] The Sigma Virus can only be harmed by a Charge Shot, Strike Chain, or Shoryuken. It has no health meter, so damage dealt can only be determined by its color (green for default, blue for medium, red for critical). It attacks by summoning enemy Mechaniloids or firing heat rays from its mouth. After losing some health, he may also warp to X's current location to harm him inside his frame.

Mega Man Xtreme 2[]
In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Sigma appears in Extreme Mode after the defeat of Berkana or Gareth, depending on if the player is X or Zero.
Strategy[]
Neo Sigma[]
Sigma's first form is the same as his Neo Sigma body from Mega Man X2, except for the amount of damage he deals and takes, having different weaknesses.
Sigma Beast[]
Instead of the Sigma Virus, Sigma's second form is Sigma Beast (シグマビースト Shiguma Bīsuto), a large Ride Armor.[6] The color of his second form is initially orange, but later alternates between blue and red, which can only be damaged by X while he is blue, and by Zero when red. His weak point is the large lion-like face in his chest. When the Ride Armor takes enough damage, Sigma is temporarily stunned, appearing in his Neo Sigma form, allowing the Maverick Hunters to damage him.
- Green Light Bullet (緑の光弾): Sigma Beast fires a ball of light. Can be reflected by Zero's saber.
- Light Bullet Summon (光弾召喚): Sigma Beast fires a ball of light from the air.
- Laser (レーザー): Sigma Beast jumps and shoots a laser below himself.
- Earthquake (地震): Sigma Beast jumps, causing a tremor that can stun the player.
- Dash (突活): Sigma Beast accelerates with a large shockwave.
- Wave (ウエーブ): Sigma Beast shoots a large shockwave.

Trivia[]
- While Neo Sigma is depicted wearing a cape in official art and in the opening scene of the PlayStation and Sega Saturn version of Mega Man X3, he is never seen wearing it in his in-game sprites.
- The Sigma Virus is one of the few final boss forms without a visible health bar, the other being Master Albert's throne in Mega Man ZX Advent.
- In Compendium of Rockman X, Neo Sigma was only named "Sigma", and Sigma Virus was misnamed as "Neo Sigma".
