Wanda Maximoff is a court merlin of the Asgardian Royal Family, dubbed Scarlet Witch, during the paradox period where the 17th and 21st Centuries were merged. When reality began tearing itself apart, Scarlet Witch summoned Captain Carter from an alternate universe, believing she was essential to their solution. She and Nick Fury chose to betray King Thor to aid the outlawed Carter in locating the Forerunner who caused the entire situation, thus repairing their timeline.

Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, possessed magical abilities which led to her being appointed in the role of advisor to the Asgardian Royal Family. When rifts began to open that caused the reality to collapse in on itself, Scarlet Witch banded together with Queen Hela, Prince Thor, and Nick Fury to summon a hero from another universe to help them. After opening a portal, Scarlet Witch witnessed the arrival of Captain Carter.

However, weeks went by and no progress had been made to saving their world, and Hela was eventually killed by the rift, resulting in Thor becoming the king. Thor turned on Carter and began hunting her, although Scarlet Witch tried to convince her king that she was not the cause of their problems, but still could save them. Scarlet Witch then informed Thor of a Forerunner that had arrived in their world and was unknowingly causing it to be destroyed due to their presence, but she could not find them.

Scarlet Witch attended a court session, but another rift opened up, so Scarlet Witch used her powers to keep it from destroying their reality. Despite her efforts, Scarlet Witch knew that time was running out for all of them. A fight broke out between Thor and band of warriors that were working with Carter, so Scarlet Witch betrayed her king, restraining him, allowing Carter to use the Scepter to identify the Forerunner, which turned out to be Rogers Hood, who was sent back to his time, saving their world.[1]

- Magic: As a royal merlin, Maximoff is a powerful witch capable of casting powerful spells. Her magic is so great that she was able to delay a rift in reality with one hand while at the same time containing Thor with her other hand.
- Chaos Magic: Maximoff can manipulate an ancient and powerful mystical energy known as Chaos Magic. This chaos energy manifest as a luminescent fire or vapor of red hue emanating from her hands and body, with Maximoff using it to cast powerful spells that can even transcend between different universes.
- Spell Casting: Maximoff can use her chaos energy to cast spells. She was able to cast a teleportation spell to summon Captain Carter from another universe to her own universe. She also was able to cast a spell to contain a rift in reality during a very long time.
- Divination: Maximoff knew, through indirect and sensitive means, that there was someone from another time in 1602, which was what was causing the temporal ruptures in reality.
- Telekinesis: Maximoff can move objects and persons with her energy. She contained Thor when he tried to attack Carter.

- In the Marvel 1602 comics, Sister Wanda is a "witchbreed" nun, who aided the Grand Inquisitor Enrique and her brother Petros in saving other witchbreed from being hunted. Being exposed as a witchbreed, Wanda boarded a ship to the New World, as Enrique trusted Carlos Javier to teach her and Petros.
